Event Thirteen.

The cracks of paint and varnish on the brow; Soon to distrust all impulses of flesh That strews its sawdust on the chamber floor, While at the window peer two crones Who once were Juliet and Jessica. | |
Welcome to Awash's thirteenth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. Please keep in mind that while this is a general event log, it is also an intro log; be sure to pay plenty of attention to our newcomers! |

[ Of course, Akechi would rather not have anyone else find his at all, but things hardly go as he wants in this place. ]
I wouldn't worry too much about these mirrors, though. [ Hah, liar. ] It wouldn't be the first time this place has dug its clutches into a person's deepest feelings and distorted it into something else. For all I know, that image of you as a monster could be nothing more than an overly elaborate metaphor.
[ You know, like the cognition he has seen all across Palaces everywhere before. Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if these mirrors were something like that; for all that he knows how messed up he really is, that pesky reflection of his seems to have taken it up a notch or several.
(So if it does show up, they can perfectly pretend that is all it is, right? Distorted cognition.) ]

Oh... Yeah. It's something like that.
[SOMETHING... Time to change the subject to divert attention from himself.]
So this has happened to you before? How long have you been here?
no subject
Well. For now, at least, he won't press. ]
For several months, I'm afraid. While I can't say we've ever had mirrors following us everywhere before, there has been at least one occasion when furniture all across town developed the ability to talk and mostly spew insults at us.
[ Not just insults, but secrets, too, though Akechi doesn't particularly want to remember those bits.
And that's exactly why he must be reminded: ]
Insults and secrets! Like Akira has been keeping from you! He's lying to you!
[ Eyebrows shooting up, Akechi spins on his heels, trying to quickly locate the source of this unfortunate memory. Where the hell is that damn mirror... ]
no subject
Hey-- I'm not lying about anything! I barely know you.
[...The mirror is talking about him, right?] Don't listen to it.

[ What is this guy even going on about? Akechi barely has the time to turn and give him a questioning glare-- one that ppossibly comes off as more belligerent than he intended, but he's not exactly pleased with the idea of having a random stranger grabbing on to his arm and holding him back when he clearly has more urgent matters to tend to. ]
This isn't about you, it's--
[ Y'know. Like that pesky mirror again. ]
He doesn't like you! He's just using you! Everybody only wants to use you!!
[ Shit. ]
Please let go of me. I need to find it.

[Akira does let him go, but his brow furrows, listening to the mirror. It sounds like Akechi's voice, only beneath that paranoia, the voice sounds like it's in pain, too. So even if it's nothing to do with him and is talking about some other Akira, he comes to a decision.]
I'll help you look.
