t's a regular morning here in the Town. The sun isn't shining at all, snow is falling like crazy, and...there may be the sounds of shouts coming from the well, thoroughly muffled.

Okay, so it's not a regular morning at all, but you'd better go help those people! The newcomers are here again. Of course, once you get to the well, you'll notice that there's actually no real help you can offer -- it's totally frozen over.

As for the newcomers, well... hopefully being suddenly dumped into freezing cold water in the middle of November in a dark, damp well is your idea of a good time, because that's your life now!

And that's not even taking into account the mirrors in everyone's homes that are about to wake up and start chattering...

[ Right. Of course he does. Jion suppresses a small wince, determined to move past this embarrassment by changing the subject, and gives a nod. ]

Um, you said 'exploring,' so -- are you new here? To Chroma, I mean. Or you just had some spare time on your hands?

No, I'm new, you guessed correctly. I just wanted to meet as many people as I could.

[HE'S BEING A PROTAG.]

I should apologize for coming in so fast...the door was open.

[ Noooo we're not talking about that any more, we're talking about you/Yu! Jion flaps a hand in hurried denial. ]

No, it's okay! I, um, I just unlocked the door first because my hands were gonna be full and I didn't wanna get blood on the doorknob since my roommates, and ...

[ He mumbles that in a rush, trailing off. ]

But, um, you're pretty bold, just going around meeting people already. You haven't been here long at all, right? I know I mostly just worried to myself when I first ended up here, I think it takes guts to put yourself out there like that. [ An awkward laugh. ] That's probably a good thing, though. Did you already hear about the thing here with bonds?

[Okay, okay we're not talking about this anymore!! He was about to answer all those questions when--]

Bonds?! What do you mean about bonds?

[Don't mind him suddenly looking super surprised but oddly ready for anything?]

[ Jion looks startled in turn by Yu's sudden excitement. Why does this guy sound so hyped about this ... ? ]

Um! Well. You know how this place is all weirdly-colored? A lot of stuff in black and white? Apparently this place values people here making 'bonds,' and that's how some stuff gets its color back? I don't really get it, but it's what people who've been here way longer than me have said, so I think it's correct.

[ And then, curiously, ]

Why, is there something similar where you're from?

[BONDS ARE THE GREATEST JION PLEASE UNDERSTAND.]

Well...sort of. The bonds between myself and my friends was very important.

[He doesn't want to say everything that happened, but suffice to say, he sounds like it is a very big part of his life.]

To think a place like this is affected too...I guess that means we need to become friends!

[Not that they wouldn't have become friends, but now Yu is on a mission! Form as many bonds as possible!]

[ “Too”? ?? ??? ?

Jion looks like he definitely doesn’t understand what Yu is getting at, but he does ultimately give an awkward laugh. ]

Um, sure? I mean, I don’t mind if you’re okay with it? After you saw, uh — [ Nope, never mind, not circling back to that. ] — y’know. And to be honest, there’s a lot here I don’t totally understand, like the whole ‘bond’ thing, but you look like you know what you’re talking about so I’ll take your word for it. Maybe you’ll be the one to figure out how to get all of us out of this place?

[ He’s mostly joking about that last bit; that’s really too much pressure to place on one person. ]

Then I'll do my best.

[CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. This is Yu Narukami, after all. He grins at him like, yeap no big deal he'll do it.]

[ That's ... so flagrantly confident that he almost kind of buys it? Jion stares dumbly for a moment before laughing. ]

Well, I'm looking forward to it, then! But don't push yourself too hard, okay? A lot of weird things tend to happen here, so you should probably be at least a little careful.

In that case, you have nothing to fear about me, I've dealt with a lot of very weird things for the past year and a half.

[Goddesses, going into TVs, fighting tournaments, defeating a god via dance...]

I think I'll be able to take care of myself just fine.
