Event Thirteen.

To love a human face was to discover
The cracks of paint and varnish on the brow;
Soon to distrust all impulses of flesh
That strews its sawdust on the chamber floor,
While at the window peer two crones
Who once were Juliet and Jessica.

t's a regular morning here in the Town. The sun isn't shining at all, snow is falling like crazy, and...there may be the sounds of shouts coming from the well, thoroughly muffled.

Okay, so it's not a regular morning at all, but you'd better go help those people! The newcomers are here again. Of course, once you get to the well, you'll notice that there's actually no real help you can offer -- it's totally frozen over.

As for the newcomers, well... hopefully being suddenly dumped into freezing cold water in the middle of November in a dark, damp well is your idea of a good time, because that's your life now!

And that's not even taking into account the mirrors in everyone's homes that are about to wake up and start chattering...

Welcome to Awash's thirteenth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. Please keep in mind that while this is a general event log, it is also an intro log; be sure to pay plenty of attention to our newcomers!

If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

[ colour! ]

can't say i've heard of either of those names
but that's not too weird around here with all of us coming from different universes and all
you're fresh out the well, huh? sucks about the weather. also super suspicious timing about the weather cause i swear it was much warmer yesterday
i'm Michael btw

Hello, Michael. It is a pleasure to meet you.

Could you please explain what you mean by "different universes"? I could make a few educated guesses, but nothing about this place makes sense to me. I would much rather hear it from someone more knowledgeable about the subject.

Is it possible we are at a higher elevation? That might explain the sudden change in weather and temperature that you have described.

oh sure!
i mean idk if i'd call myself knowledgeable but i'll take a stab at it
so i come from a planet called Earth right
and there are other people here who come from Earth too
but they're not the SAME Earth
like the countries and a lot of the history seems like they match up in most places
but mine doesn't have any magic or anything while there are a couple people who come from Earths where people have super powers or super advanced robots or psychic abilities
so you could say they're parallel to each other! like if you traced a picture of Earth onto a new layer and then just kept doing that and laid all the layers on top of each other
they all exist but just not on the same layer of reality
if that analogy makes sense i mean.
we also got people who come from totally different planets to Earth but i haven't figured out yet if any of us share universes with any of those non-Earth places yet
i'm guessing probably not tho since the rules of magic and stuff seem like they're different for everyone???
it's super interesting actually!!

wow that got kinda long

[ sorry... Lux... hope you were ready for that assault of red text... ]

anyway i honestly have no idea how high up we are
none of us can get through the other side of the forest to find out
so anything's possible!
i think with the town's track record it's more likely to be some more weird magic stuff tho

[ Oh! ]

I appreciate how thorough this is. Let me see if I have this right.

- Worlds are able to overlap. They may or may not have similarities to one another.
- There is more than one static "world" represented (eg. Earth, Runeterra—my home)
- People brought to Chroma may or may not be from the same iteration of the same/similar world
- Worlds can vary drastically in structure and physics
- No one is sure why they have been brought to Chroma

Is this all correct thus far? Have I missed anything?

Are we able to see these worlds in relation to one another? For example, like stars in the night sky. You also mentioned that these worlds run parallel to one another. Does this mean that they would not normally be able to interact or affect one another?

no you pretty much got all of it!!! thanks for following me down that rabbit hole lmao
we've got a few theories floating round about why we're all here but we haven't been able to confirm them yet or anything
like we've noticed that color keeps coming back to stuff and that it seems like that happens when people in town do stuff together
so we think we might have all got dragged here by #Fx6 to fix the whole monochrome situation
but like i said we're not 100% on that yet

idk if we can see the other worlds or not really
i mean if any of the different planets DID share a universe it'd be possible through like, telescopes and stuff
but we'd probably be so far away from each other that we'd be looking at the super distant past of each others' planet
but yeah for the parallel worlds thing that's EXACTLY what i mean!
you could live your whole life without knowing there's another version of your planet out there somewhere
there's somebody else i was talking to the other day on the forums who can make connections between different universes tho. she's probably got a better handle on all this many-worlds-fact stuff than i have

Of course. Thank you for taking the time to break this down for me. I love to learn new things, and you have opened up a new world of knowledge for me to explore.

So, if that is true, that means that there may be a world that looks exactly the same as your own, but the sky is green, or yellow, or purple? That is fascinating! Just imagine all of the possibilities! I would love to see a world like this!

L

P.S. Idk? Lmao? What do these mean, exactly?

aw it's no big! happy to spread the knowledge and all
i dunno why the color of the sky was the first place you went to to illustrate that but ykw: i can dig it. Earth with a purple sky would be SICK

ps: whoops i forgot about internet-speak again
i should start getting a dictionary for when this happens haha
they're like acronyms!! to help you type faster and stuff. there's a whole bunch of them
but idk = i don't know and lmao = laughing my ass off
oh and ykw = you know what
since we're at it

Sick? As in the sky would be sick? I'm trying to figure out what that would involve. Maybe large amounts of rain for a "runny nose"? Or quickly shifting between that and extreme drought? Or perhaps rapid temperature changes? Figuring out the various effects and how they would affect the people living in a world like that might be a fun thought exercise!

What would the weather be like, if the sky was under the weather?

Are there any other acronyms that I might encounter here, or that I should be made aware of?

LMAO no i meant like
it'd be really neat!!
but your idea is way cooler!!! i mean it'd probably SUCK for the people living in THAT universe but i guess they'd develop all kinds of ways to deal with it if that's just how things were
maybe they'd have sky doctors

re: acronyms
how much time do you got? last time i did this for someone from a non-internet world i ended up figuring out there's a LOT

I hadn't thought of sky doctors! But I under how you would give the sky a thorough check-up. I imagine it would be very complicated.

I have no intention of leaving the house until this cold has at least somewhat subsided, so I don't believe lack of time would be an issue.

oh man for SURE
maybe they'd have to have a whole global team working on it
like co-ordinate everyone to do the check-up on their bit of sky all at the same time and then feed all that intel back to HQ to sync it all up?
or maybe they could use satellites and stuff to help out too, i dunno
i mean they do that to monitor the ozone layer already

welp
i guess it's time to buckle up then
where do you want me to start, most useful first?

I would imagine they might have specialists who focus on certain weather conditions, or for seasons as well. A summerologist who specializes in thunderstorms perhaps?

The most practical or useful terms may be a good place to start. Focusing on commonly used terms might not be a bad idea, either. I trust your judgement.
