DAVE, QUEST 35

[Quest info here!]

[It didn't take him long to read the quests, necessarily, but it took him some time to decide what he wanted to do about it. As usual, when he didn't know what to do though he took some time to himself before immediately seeking out a person he knew would have some kind of opinion on it.

It's why he immediately goes off to find Dave, though he also seems to be thinking this over all the same.]

...I'm starting to think maybe Ochako was right about Mr. F and what he's doing. Have you seen this round of quests yet?

[ dave's on the couch reading a purloined library book.

so, a fairy tale. he puts it down on his chest when john comes in, though, lips quirking up. john looks too worried to be thinking about anything other than the color loss quest, but that same not-happy expression is what leads dave to say: ]

Egbert, are you proposing we cuddle?

[ teasing smiles out of john is maybe one of his favorite hobbies. ]

[It's enough to temporarily distract him, at least, and he looks a little flustered for a moment.]

What? [The idea's appealing and he kind of thinks maybe they should do that instead. It renders a grin though, because:] Like you need a quest for that.

[What if we stall in talking about the actual quest he wants to talk about? Good plan.]

Maybe I like being rewarded for hitting on my boyfriend, you don't know my life. [ but he got the grin he was looking for, so dave's content. ] However, I know your top priority is not hitting on me, even though it totally should be. So. Color thing?

[windeity]

Shut up, I totally know your life. [He makes a face, but yeah.] But yeah. Color thing. ...we can cuddle after? But I'm just wondering how that one works.

Cuddling? Well, when two people like each other a lot, sometimes they share a blanket and hug. [ he says it slowly, as if to a child.

yeah he's just giving john a hard time. ]

I dunno. Try to do the windy thing, but with color.

[A dead-eyed stare as he uses a bit of the wind to lift up the book Dave was reading and lightly thwap him behind the head with it.]

Not that, dumbass. You really think it's kind of like that? The windy thing is more about blowing stuff around.

I mean...just kind of try to blow my color over to you, I guess.

[ apparently he doesn't care if john experiments, although he throws a retaliatory pillow at him for the book thumping. ]

[There's an "ow" as the pillow smacks him in the face.]

Do you really want to try this? Like seriously.

OCHAKO, QUEST 33

[Quest info here!]

[It was happenstance that John and Ochako decided they were going to be the ones to take on this particular quest. John didn't even really know what a sphinx was outside of what he'd seen in movies and comics, but he couldn't bring himself to be surprised by the fact that there was apparently one of these creatures roaming around.

The good thing, he figured, was that having someone like Ochako on board to help him hunt this thing down wasn't the worst idea. They could cover a lot of ground and probably find it quickly. It's why he doesn't seem at all bothered waiting for her at the edge of the forest, hovering a few inches off the ground as he waves toward her upon spotting her.]

So we just have to find this thing, right? That doesn't sound like it will be too hard.

[thriftea]

[Ochako lifts a hand in greeting before jogging straight over his way. Puzzles... are definitely not her strong point, but as she offers him a smile she's the very picture of confidence.]

I don't think so, either! It sounds like it should be pretty big, so we'll find its tracks for sure. [She holds her hands up to her face, clenching her fingers into claws.] And who knows? Maybe we'll hear it roar!

[But as she heads into the forest, gesturing for him to follow her, she honestly hopes... that they don't hear any roars at all. That's too scary.]

[So this is going to go well, basically. At least it's with a friend that he trusts and if they don't find the sphinx...oh well. That's about the extent of it.]

If we hear a roar, I'm voting right now that we scout from the air. I doubt sphinxes can jump that high. [But he follows her into the forest. They'll have to look for tracks, and he almost wishes Jade was here because he has a feeling she could have sniffed this thing out.] Ochako, have you ever gone hunting before? What else should we looking for besides tracks? Fur?

[Ochako, the great huntress, looks back at him... and shrugs.]

Tracks should be enough, right? I didn't even think about fur...

[Honesty is the best policy, and yet she can't help but to feel slightly embarrassed. She's just going to cover that up by glancing up at the thick canopy of limbs above them.]

Maybe we really should go up and look? I'll be okay if I don't stay up there too long. [She HOPES.] You can take that side, and I can take this side.

[She's probably going to get sick as a dog, but it's a sacrifice... she's willing to make...]

[Should he be worried? He suddenly has a lot of concerns and he looks at her warily even as he begins lifting off from the ground.]

Only if you're sure? I could also probably carry you so you aren't using your Quirk and we can have two sets of eyes looking in the same place.

[He's maybe grown used to carrying people. It's a thing that happens.]

[Ochako is, like, a split-second away from activating her quirk when he says that, and she immediately pauses to give him a curious look. It makes sense? It is, in fact, a good idea, but...]

Carry me? Without using my quirk. [Or so she assumes, anyway. HMM.] We can... try it, I guess, but what if I'm too heavy?

[Okuyasu can pick her up with one arm, but John is... well, my dude, she's just sayin'!]

[Okay now he kind of looks offended.] Okay first of all, I am pretty sure you are smaller than me and second of all I'm using to carrying someone whose limbs are way longer than yours and are therefore heavier. It'll be fine! It is at least worth a shot.

[thriftea]

[Well, dang! She didn't mean to, like, actually offend him, and she promptly holds both hands up in front of her in that universal "Whoops, I messed up!" gesture. Forgive her!!]

Okay, okay! You're right! It is worth a shot, so—

D-Do I have to do anything, or do you just have to... pick me up?

[They're doing so well already.]

QUEST 35, ICHIMATSU

[Quest info here!]

[So after everything that happened with what he and Dave experienced, he's a little...well, he's a little horrified, but he's simultaneously curious. He's curious, and he knows better than to repeat the process but it doesn't stop him from wanting to try it in reverse and see what happens. It's hard to find someone else he'd trust enough to ask who wouldn't feel too bad about it, and while he's thinking about it it's then that he remembers Ichimatsu is the type of person who's fairly apathetic to everything.

So. He goes and he finds Ichimatsu's house. How did he find it? Don't worry about it. He knocks on the door though and as soon as Ichimatsu answers the door John doesn't even give him a chance to say anything before he grins.]

You're not doing anything right now, right?

[nyahilistic]

[The thing about having a house is that you have to... actually stay somewhere specific to be considered having one. Which Ichimatsu doesn't. He actually is more frequently "found" sleeping in weird places like alleys or on boxes around like... a stray cat...]

[But that's entirely beside the point. Maybe he's got somewhere he sometimes keeps his things. Maybe he was just checking out this particular house. He sometimes cleans himself in some vague sense of the word, so maybe he was doing that, here! Either way the house John's knocking on happens to be one Ichimatsu is currently inside of, though he's absolutely perplexed as to how the Windy Boy found him. Which shows on his face.]

...the last time you asked me this I ate a fairy, John.

[Look we don't question the windy boy. He might have just barged into a lot of empty houses, we don't know. Besides that though, he just raises an eyebrow.]

Yeah, okay, but that was all you. I never told you to actually eat the fairy. [...or at least that's what he's going with here.]

[A frown.] Valid, but I wouldn't have been near the fairies to eat them if you hadn't brought the idea to my attention.

[There's a shrug. Okay, can't deny that.]

Okay, that is fine and I can accept that, but what if I told you that I kind of know exactly what will happen to you this time?

I'd probably say bullshit, but also maybe not bullshit because somehow that sounds feasible.

Have you bothered reading the quests for this month on the forum yet? Or am I going to be the bearer of bad news again?
