[By the time the other two show up, Maribelle is already atop her horse, her staff in one arm, the other tomes on her lap.]

Well, it's about time!

[Keith doesn't have much comment to the less-than-friendly-greeting, instead shrugging a shoulder. He's hardly the most social under the best of circumstances, and if this is how it's starting out, he'll stick to business.

His sword is currently in its dagger form, still tucked away in its sheath. He's dressed, as per usual, in his form-fitting Blade uniform, all in black, hood up, but at least he has the mask off. That's progress.]

Before we go... this could get dangerous. Last time I went into the woods, we got attacked by shadows that sucked all the warmth right out of us. I don't recommend trying it out. So we really should stay alert.

[Momo waves to both of her teammates as she approaches, a heavy steel polearm in her grip. The blade on it is long, sharp, and shining in the morning sunlight. The girl herself is in her Hero Outfit, seemingly at ease despite the lack of covering.]

I understand, Keith.

[She nods to Maribelle as well, gesturing with her polearm.]

I'm ready when you both are. Is there anything you feel you need, either of you, before we go? I've had a pretty full breakfast, and I've got plenty of food with me, so energy is not a concern.

[Maribelle waves a dismissive hand.]

We're both aware of the dangers here. I am a Shepherd, it is my duty to protect and serve. Whatever dangers we face, we'll make it through, whether it be by force or a clever escape.

[She tugs the reigns, and her horse begins to move forward.]

Come along, let's not dawdle.

This isn't any of our worlds. The dangers here are things we may never have even dreamed of. Let's not get overconfident. [...though in fairness overconfident is sort of Keith's specialty, but after the incident with the shadows the last time he went deep into the woods, he's at least aware that this place doesn't always play fair.]

But yeah, we'll make our way through whatever we have to.

[A glance over at Momo and he manages something of a smile.] I'm good to go. [So he will fall into step.]

[Momo ignores the comment from Maribelle and sets off at a brisk pace.]

I'm sure we'll be fine. Let's just get moving.

[She doesn't know what significance herding sheep has, and feels like Maribelle would react badly to being questioned on it...]

I'll assume both of you have been in forests before, but just so you know I'm going to mark trees as we go to keep ups from getting lost.

[A nod of approval!]

The last thing we need is to get lost. Who knows how large this forest may be... And we should set a time limit as best we can. We don't want to be here for too long.

[Not that she's offering any way to do so. That's for you commoners to figure out.]

Good idea. But it sort of feels like these woods have a mind of their own. When Dave and I were out here, we definitely got led where it wanted us to go.

[Keith is aware how nuts that sounds, but it was entirely nuts when it happened too. Hopefully this excursion will go a great deal less disastrously. He’s hoping anyway. Even if optimism has never exactly been his strongest suit, he’ll give it a shot. It’s important to figure out what’s out in the woods anyway, if they’re ever going to try to the bottom of this place and how to get home.]

We can keep an eye on the sun and the light. It’d be better to be back before night sets in.

[She doesn't doubt it. However that doesn't stop her from creating a ball of twine, and preparing small things to stick into trees. She will go at this Theseus Style.]

Agreed. And as a note, one of my classmates, Tenya Iida, is on standby. I have a flaregun, and if we need help I'll use it. If something happens to me, then Keith, would you mind? It's in my belt pouch.

[Sorry Maribelle, you look more like a Fantasy Princess, so...]

His quirk is speed. He can be to us extremely fast.

[A thoughtful pause, watching Momo's powers in action. Once she realizes she's staring, she quickly shakes her head. considering...]

Perhaps we should explain what our abilities are, so we can plan better. Miss Momo and I know each other's skills, but with a third party, we should do it again.

[Clearing her throat, holding up her staff.]

Aside from my elemental tomes, which allow for offensive attacks, I can heal any of you should you get injured. It's no excuse to jump head-first into danger, but should we run into some trouble, we are not helpless. I don't need either of you trying to brave things out and hiding a broken bone or any such thing.

[Keith nods. All right. He's pretty eager to hear what these two can do. ...though he did see what Momo just did there, and that was plain impressive. He may not know what elemental tomes do exactly, but offense sounds good. So these two both have... magic. That's what he's filing all this away as in his head.

...as for him.]

[WELL. Sorry, ladies. That's Keith. At least he's pretty damn good with it.]

I've explained how my power works to you, I think, Keith?

[She hopes so. Given that he's seen what she's doing though, it doesn't seem like he'll need much explanation.]

If not, I can just make things. I've got a few things like flashbangs, and a taser, and things like that already pre-made so I think we'll have the tools we need, but if something does happen I'll make more.

[You're doing your best, Keith.]

Excellent, so now we're all informed.

[At the very least, maribelle still seems satisfied! Swordmasters are very important in her world.]

Any battles we run into must be quick and decisive - we need to know right away if it's worth the effort. Information is our first resource here!

[Keith nods.]

If we aren't going to win, it's better to retreat if we can, instead of someone winding up hurt.

[THAT SAID.] It'd still be valuable information to know what dangers we might face out here and what they're susceptible to. The shadows Dave and I ran into couldn't be attached physically. Not sure what magic would've done.

[That also said, he will be the first into any fight given the opportunity because that's his nature.]

[Its about then that they pass into the forest, the shade of the trees casting a gloomy shadow over the little group.]

Agreed, information is valuable, because if there's one danger, I guarantee we'll have to overcome it later.

[Stepping onto the path, Momo immediately starts by staking an orange flag to the ground near a tree. And tying the twine to it.]

Our guiderope.

Is that so?

[She can't help but smirk a little, lightly tapping the tomes on her lap.]

Let it be known I'd be more than happy to experiment.

[Ah, guiderope made! Point of success!]

Very good. On we go.

IF we run into them, go for it. I'd love to see someone find a way to hit back at them. But if it doesn't work we need to get away and fast.

[Keith does not recommend the experience. It was awful. He's just now starting to be able to feel warm again.]

Guiderope. I like it.

[He casts a glance skyward. They have plenty of daylight, and with the sun where it is, he thinks he can keep their direction fairly consistent.]

[Off they go down the path, a path that gradually seems to narrow, despite not...actually being any smaller. They're still able to walk 3 abreast if they want.]

So, have either of you done foresting adventures before?

[Just...to keep some chatter up.]

Not for the sake of exploration, no. But I have traveled through forests, across deserts, on the sea... All by my lord's orders, and with other members of the Shepherds, of course.

[She's so used to everyone knowing what that is back home that she sometimes forgets to explain it here.]

[Keith has at least put together that she doesn't mean actual herders of sheep so there's that.] Uh I mean... some of the planets the other paladins and I visited and fought the Galra on had woods. This one planet the beings her lived there could shape and reprogram plant matter. It was pretty impressive.

[But generally he's in space and there's not a lot of forest in space.] You?

Well. I've done training excursions into the forest that focused on exploration.

[And since that doesn't sound terribly useful, compared to the rest...]

And one big battle against a huge group of supervillains.

[Tree magic, is that what Keith is saying?]

... You actually call them supervillains?

[What are you, six?]

[Don't let Pidge year you calling it magic though.]

Pretty sure they're an actual legitimate thing in her universe. [Keith answers, glancing up,] We're all from different worlds. As far as I know in my world, shepherds hang out with sheep or in manger scenes at Christmas. I'm guessing that's not what you mean though. You don't look like the sheep...ish type. [Almost a joke!] Maybe we shouldn't get stuck on vocabulary.

[A glance around and then back the way they came to make sure Momo's guiderope is still, well, guiding. So far so good.]

Individuals with Quirks who act villainously? What else should we call them?

[There's a sarcastic bite to her words.]

Anyway we have more important things to worry about. The forest is changing.
