Elizabeth is able to open portals to other worlds and timelines that she calls Tears (Major spoilers for Bioshock Infinite in that link, for the record). In short, Tears are portals to other worlds that work like a window. You can look through and see and even reach out and interact with the world in limited capacity. At her previous canon point, she had little control over them, but at her new one, she's gotten much better at being able to "pick" where she wants them to open to, though it's hardly perfect. Hence practicing! By some restrictions of Chroma, you're unlikely to be able to take anything but small things from the Tears, and for ease of threading, any other characters from your canon you see through it you won't be able to interact with. Alas, I don't know all canons, so I can't rp other characters!
We can handwave and assume the two of them made arrangements for where to meet beforehand, though for actually creating Tears, I do need some information from you! Just fill out this form and plop it under the toplevel for my reference, then tag at your leisure!
Character Name:
World Description: Give me a description of your character's world, and a Wiki where applicable. Elizabeth will ask your character to describe it to her, but this is useful for me to describe it in a tag! Give as much information as you want.
Variables: Imagine AUs of your character's canon/world along the lines of "if this one thing changed, then,". What would be some things that might change? How would this effect the world at large? This can be as small as "strawberries are now purple" or as large as "the evil king won the war, and the country is controlled by him." If you have specific ideas for things you'd like to see, let me know and I'll accommodate!
Constants: On the other hand, what would stay the same? What are the things that make your canon your canon, such as the main character, mechanics, etc. These are the things that would make it feel like a different series entirely if you took it away.
WORLD DESCRIPTIONS
sorry this is late!!! work has been crazy
World Description: Lottie's world is generally just modern day Earth. Everything in Canon generally matches up to events in the real world, so for example Rihanna very much exists in Snotgirl and has released her makeup/lingerie line, Comic-Con is a thing, etc. The only thing is it's just set mainly in Los Angeles (a very crowded city, lots of traffic, tons of high end stores and haughty people), since it's the best place for anyone seeking fame and recognition to go to.
Variables: I don't have much of a preference on which one is used, but here's a few I came up with. If you need more just let me know!!
- Smartphones aren't available to the general public unless you're someone with a big following. Very Exclusive. Social media is still a thing (twitter/facebook/instagram) but everyone just has to use their computers now if they can't access the phones with the apps for it since all that is available are... various flip phones. Everyone is stuck with their MP3 players and burning their music onto blank CDs, carrying around digital cameras to take their pictures if they want something good, GPS inside cars are rampant, payphones are very much a thing and you have to pay for your ringtones. Fashion by extension is perpetually stuck in the 90s and early 2000s, never really getting better. Everyone just looks really embarrassing.
- Technology is just way better in this AU for some reason, and sentient roombas/etc. are a thing. Androids are still being developed for public use but are advertised generally everywhere. Stores hardly have any human employees, phones are more in tune with their users needs and desires with AI being more evolved, and talking cars are all the rage.
- Superheroes aren't just exclusive to comic books? More practical heroes versus ones with magic - think of people like Batman.. just being really rich and really bored. Someone just.... did it one day and now it's real. LA is exclusively always caught up with something criminal related, masked heroes are endorsing products on TV and on your favorite apps, being interviewed on the news. Likewise villains are surfacing as a response, some being big baddies and others just small time thugs. Over time the whole crime fighting business became more serious instead of the joke it initially was, becoming more global and widespread - not just an LA thing. Then you have......... the regular people. Who just deal with all of the destroyed public property from super-fights like it's their job.
- Public transit is widely known as just a better mode of transportation. Less cars on the road and more people either using trains, buses, or just walking from Point A to B. Bikes are now a cool thing to stunt with on social media instead of things like expensive sports cars. Not motorcycles, just actual bikes.
- Everything is the same except 'brunch' was just never invented. No more mimosas and talking shit. Haters Brunch for Lottie and friends becomes Haters Dinner.
Constants: The things that would for sure stay the same are Lottie staying in her same circle of friends (Misty and Meg), and becoming a fashion blogger. No matter what she'd still live in Los Angeles, in her own apartment, attending parties, selling her own merch and being generally insufferable. Sunny would've broke up with her and Lottie would've met Caroline by ordering the same drink at Starbucks. Gay crisis ensues. As far as the things that make Snotgirl what it is, is the presence of social media, computers, phones, and fashion.
