Who: Minato, youuu and also questfriends eventually, probably
Where: Around Town, Near The Woods
When: Nebulous November Time
What: In which Minato's depressed Aigis is gone, distractions are attempted to be found, and he's way too close to the woods (also, quests)
Warnings: None atm!
A - distractions will surely help;
[It never really gets easier when people go home, but Aigis... Aigis was special. There was so much left unsaid, so much that he should have told her before she left, and now the thought that he's lost his chance to do so forever is... honestly really hard to swallow.
It's impossible not to notice that she's gone. Her room (and Levy's, too...) is empty, and while he's grateful for Valvatorez still being there so that he's not entirely left alone again, it's still far too quiet.
So he tries to keep himself busy. It'll be pretty easy to find him, considering he's out wandering pretty exclusively; he doesn't want to go back to the empty house, so he can be found fishing at the dock, head bowed, or listlessly walking through the town, hands shoved into his pockets and headphones on, or picking up skeleton bones to pile them up with a distant frown on his face.
Boy he looks like he's having such a great time.]
B - distractions, take two;
[Eventually, he tries something different when that's not working; he gathers what he has for ingredients, and he bakes. He's gotten much better at baking in this place after the past six or seven odd months here, because it's not like there's much more to do. They're nothing special, since he can only work with what he's got, but there's plenty of honey and some chocolate from his color rewards previously and since pie crusts have color restored...!!
... Well, flour isn't restored yet, but presumably mixing colorless flour and eggs with color to make pie crust and only pie crust makes it suddenly have color...? That's bizarre but Minato's getting pretty used to the town's weird rules, it's fine.
So! Apple pie and chocolate pie it is, sweetened with honey, complete with purple milk for the chocolate pie (does that make the chocolate pie purple-brown...?), and they turn out...pretty okay! However, it's infinitely more pie than he is willing to personally eat, so.
Knock knock, there's Minato at your door with a slice of pie.]
...Do you want this?
[Please take it.]
C - this is the bad option;
[Minato knows better, he really does. But...
It doesn't stop him from standing right at the edge of the woods, close enough to be beneath the shaded boughs, peering into the trees. It's cold, so he's got his hoodie on, hands tucked deeply into the pocket, scarf wrapped tightly around his neck...
But he's looking a bit too intently out there, fingers idly toying with the charm Guren gave him in his pocket, looking perhaps a bit too deeply in thought.
Watch him long enough without interrupting, and he might even take a step deeper into the woods.
(He knows he shouldn't, he really does, but... but what if they're all out there?)]
D - wildcard/quests

Secondly, teasing.]
no subject
[Minato says that much obediently, though there's a faintly amused expression on his face, and he seems a lot more relaxed than he did before.]
But that doesn't mean it isn't nice to hear, still, you kno2.
no subject
Is that your way of asking me to say it again?
no subject
He's not shameless enough for that; he blinks, a little startled by the words, and then clears his throat and shakes his head.]
Ah... no, that's okay. Just hearing it once is enough for me.
[It'd be really embarrassing to hear her say it point blank like that again.]
no subject
Because after a pause she's grinning at him.]
...I like you.
no subject
Critical hit to the heart. Shiho's never this blunt and forthright with things, and even if it's just to fluster him... that's still a lot.
It works.
He...dips his head, and clears his throat, and there's definitely a bit of a flush to his cheeks.
Aaaaah.]
Shiho-chan...
[...]
You're vicious. [ROMANCE IS ALIVE.]
no subject
Of course. But that's what makes me cute. [She has no shame as she leans in a little to peer at him since his head is lowered and all.]
no subject
He's definitely a little red, which Shiho leaning into his personal space isn't exactly going to make go away...
He does hold his ground, though, meeting her eyes with an expression that's honestly fond (and a little embarrassed still).]
... That's true. [He can't deny it!!] Just like this, when you're having a lot of fun... that's when I think Shiho-chan is the cutest.
no subject
...Isn't saying something like that against the rules? [But she doesn't let go of his hand even if looking at her like that and then making a statement like that was supremely unfair.
And if they're breaking rules (whatever those arbitrary rules are??)...]
But I guess, I don't hate that.
no subject
That's good to hear.
[After all...]
I don't think I could stop breaking those rules even if I tried. It comes too naturally.
no subject
And here I thought you were going to be a good influence on me. [But what she doesn't say is that he already is in some ways. When he tells her he trusts her, she can't help but want to learn to trust like that too.]
no subject
Ah... here I thought you were going to be the good influence on me. Now what do we do...?
[He asks that--but he's turning to head away from the woods now, Shiho having expertly distracted Minato away from doing something Very Stupid.]
no subject
[Seeing him turn away from the woods and being distracted from his thoughts is comforting though. Of course she'd have followed him straight into the forest if need be, but it's a good thing that he'll be safer now.]
We can do anything you want. Or you could let me walk you back to your house this time, if you want.
no subject
... Yeah, maybe going home is a good idea.
[He's still going to have to come to terms with the fact that Aigis is gone, but... the part of him that was ready to fling himself into danger is gone, stabilized and tempered by Shiho's quiet understanding.]
You know...even if you're not the good influence, you're still really dependable. Thanks...for sticking with me, even though I was acting pretty dumb.
no subject
But for now, she gives his hand a squeeze.]
You weren't. [Because she once shot someone with a stun gun for hurting Kaoru.] And sometimes you need to do stuff like this, just... not alone. Right?
Just don't go telling other people I'm dependable in case they start asking me to do more or something. [But she's laughing anyway as she says it.]
no subject
He won't question it.]
Ah, right...we can't have that.
[And a bit more softly:]
I don't mind taking more of your attention anyway.
[Minato that's cheesy.]
no subject
Well, you have a lot of it already, you know.
no subject
... Then I'm really honored, you know?
[He means that sincerely, too--Shiho's the sort of person who could have all sorts of friends and admirers, as far as he's concerned. The fact that she spends so much time with him... it makes him happy.]
no subject
Because she can see his amusement and his sincerity. She can see his happiness and she isn't unaffected by it. It's impossible.
Her eyes flick down briefly before she looks at him.]
....Even your thoughts are actually kind of embarrassing, huh. [But she's not letting go.]
no subject
(Besides...he still thinks her powers are amazing.)]
I think that probably won't change... [Teasingly:] If you're going to peek, you'll just have to deal with my embarrassing thoughts too, you know?
no subject
It’s not like I can just stop. [She’s physically unable to stop her own psychometry entirely.
And she doesn’t want to let go of his hand, shifting her grip just a little to curl her fingers around his.] And you know all you have to do is think about something as hard as you can and I won’t be able to get through. Like... pink elephants or something.
no subject
Pink elephants, huh...? [oh god now he can't stop thinking about pink elephants.
A FIRM SHAKE OF HIS HEAD.]
... Anyway, you know I don't mind. Anything you read is fair game, as far as I'm concerned.
[He doesn't have anything to hide...!! M...mostly. It's fine, though, he's not thinking about that right now. He's thinking about pink elephants, in fact, though it's mostly by accident. He can't get it out of his head now that she put the idea into his head? Oops.]
no subject
It's cute.]
...All I see right now is elephants, though.
no subject
[Ah..... ]
... I can't stop thinking about them now.
[SHIHO... THIS IS YOUR FAULT. A beat.]
Oh...there's my place.
[...]
That's probably a good thing, because now I think I'm going to be stuck thinking about pink elephants all night.
no subject
[She gives him a bright smile, already too amused with his pink elephant thoughts. But since they're here, she probably has to let go of his hand soon. She gives it a squeeze, eyes looking briefly down at their joined hands before turning that look back to him.]
Well, I guess it's goodbye for now then.
