Who: Minato, youuu and also questfriends eventually, probably
Where: Around Town, Near The Woods
When: Nebulous November Time
What: In which Minato's depressed Aigis is gone, distractions are attempted to be found, and he's way too close to the woods (also, quests)
Warnings: None atm!
A - distractions will surely help;
[It never really gets easier when people go home, but Aigis... Aigis was special. There was so much left unsaid, so much that he should have told her before she left, and now the thought that he's lost his chance to do so forever is... honestly really hard to swallow.
It's impossible not to notice that she's gone. Her room (and Levy's, too...) is empty, and while he's grateful for Valvatorez still being there so that he's not entirely left alone again, it's still far too quiet.
So he tries to keep himself busy. It'll be pretty easy to find him, considering he's out wandering pretty exclusively; he doesn't want to go back to the empty house, so he can be found fishing at the dock, head bowed, or listlessly walking through the town, hands shoved into his pockets and headphones on, or picking up skeleton bones to pile them up with a distant frown on his face.
Boy he looks like he's having such a great time.]
B - distractions, take two;
[Eventually, he tries something different when that's not working; he gathers what he has for ingredients, and he bakes. He's gotten much better at baking in this place after the past six or seven odd months here, because it's not like there's much more to do. They're nothing special, since he can only work with what he's got, but there's plenty of honey and some chocolate from his color rewards previously and since pie crusts have color restored...!!
... Well, flour isn't restored yet, but presumably mixing colorless flour and eggs with color to make pie crust and only pie crust makes it suddenly have color...? That's bizarre but Minato's getting pretty used to the town's weird rules, it's fine.
So! Apple pie and chocolate pie it is, sweetened with honey, complete with purple milk for the chocolate pie (does that make the chocolate pie purple-brown...?), and they turn out...pretty okay! However, it's infinitely more pie than he is willing to personally eat, so.
Knock knock, there's Minato at your door with a slice of pie.]
...Do you want this?
[Please take it.]
C - this is the bad option;
[Minato knows better, he really does. But...
It doesn't stop him from standing right at the edge of the woods, close enough to be beneath the shaded boughs, peering into the trees. It's cold, so he's got his hoodie on, hands tucked deeply into the pocket, scarf wrapped tightly around his neck...
But he's looking a bit too intently out there, fingers idly toying with the charm Guren gave him in his pocket, looking perhaps a bit too deeply in thought.
Watch him long enough without interrupting, and he might even take a step deeper into the woods.
(He knows he shouldn't, he really does, but... but what if they're all out there?)]
D - wildcard/quests

Why can this kindness not exist in his world now? Why did things end up that way?
He looks down at the blanket and slowly hugs it to his chest. ]
... Thank you.
Do you... do you want to come in?
no subject
[Minato agrees very easily...!!
... Partially because he likes spending time with Sinistra, and, admittedly, partially because he doesn't like the cold, and it is cold out here.]
I wanted to see how you were doing lately, anyway.
no subject
It has been a difficult week.
no subject
[He can kind of guess what Sinistra's referring to, but even so, he doesn't know everything that's happened.
So, quietly:]
Will you tell me about it? Just what you're comfortable sharing.
no subject
But... That is past now.
[ and his mirror is gone so... He's dealing with it. ]
no subject
[He doesn't think Sinistra's just fine, but...for now, he'll leave it alone.]
When people leave, it's... hard on everyone, I know.
[But when it's people you love... it's even harder, whether they're the ones who left or the ones who are affected by it.
Minato's going to go ahead and take a seat at Sin's table, and.....pauses.
Mirror...? Mirror. There's definitely a mirror casually laying on the table, and he doesn't know if it's Sinistra's or-- (He left his at home, didn't he...?)
...He's afraid to look into it, though, to find out.]
no subject
[ He pauses, also catching sight of the mirror on the table. Is it back? ]
I thought I was rid of that.
[ No, wait, does it look the same as his? Maybe it's a new one. He hasn't left since he got his so he's not aware they can follow, either. He heaves a sigh. ]
If that is what I think it is, I would avoid looking into it.
no subject
There's a lot that's alarming here. If it's not Sinistra's...
(A. what did Sin do with his, and B. that means it's--)]
... What did you do with yours, Sinistra-san? If it's not yours then maybe...
[... Tentatively, Minato glances at it, and then reaches out to try to flip it over. But it's much too late for that, really; from the mirror, there's the soft tone of Minato's voice.
"Are you going to leave me alone like this...? I don't want to be alone anymore."
... Oh. He grimaces a little.]
... it's mine.
no subject
[ He admits to it maybe too easily. He's not concerned about it. Whatever punishment he receives, if there is one at all, will be worth not listening to his own voice incessantly harassing him.
The sound of Minato's voice drifting gently out of the mirror answers his only question about it and shifts his attention to Minato's face. ]
You did not have it in your hands, did you? Oh... Did it... it followed you?
[ Did he just not notice it? ]
no subject
[It doesn't matter that it's a mirror, it's magic!
Minato...makes a vague face at it.]
We shouldn't listen to it, probably. [But also--!] I'm a little worried that you smashed yours--
[From the mirror: "You can't just ignore all of your problems forever, even if you try really hard. It's not fair, you know...? It's really unfair."
... Minato frowns.]
no subject
[ There's a frustrated and short grunt from him. Why does something like this have to bother Minato, of all people? He didn't deserve such an annoyance.
He steps close to the mirror and tries to take one side of it and...
flip it over onto its face. If it will stay that way, maybe it will help. ]
I will not pay it mind, for your sake.
no subject
Thanks... sorry, I didn't realize it would follow me over here.
[A faint frown, and he shakes his head.]
Well... not that I want to let it change what I want to do today regardless.
[AHEM.]
Maybe it'll stay quiet now-- ["Please don't leave me alone. Not like the others... I'm tired of being alone."
HM.
THANKS HE HATES IT.]
no subject
[ He wonders if the mirrors are a test. A curse? Maybe something worse than that. He's not familiar enough with magic to understand. He only knows, if Minato's is as bad as his mirror had been, it could drive him crazy. ]
They are persistent...
[ He places his palm on Minato's head with care.
Minato's mirror is echoing words his own had cried out time and again. He couldn't do anything for himself. He never can. But maybe he can do something for Minato for once? ]
I would break it for you, but you seem hesitant. Is there something you would like to do that could distract from it?
no subject
I feel like I shouldn't be bothered by this sort of thing anymore. I'm already aware of these issues, so...
[He should be stable enough to handle the mirror's whispers, he thinks.
But Sinistra is right--distracting themselves is the best possible option.]
A distraction sounds nice, though. Is there anything I can help with around here...? It looks pretty clean here, actually.
no subject
The people in my world are all still coping with those kinds of feelings. The state of the world has twisted them and trapped them in those feelings. I think it is fair if they do bother you. They might always bother you... it's being consumed that is bad.
[ He speaks from experience, of course. ]
Hm... this is my first time seeing the snow. Kisa taught me how to play in it, but only by making something out of the snow. Maybe you could show me the way that you enjoy the snow?
no subject
Minato thinks he's come to terms with all of this a long time ago. He had to, when he was coming up against his death. It wasn't the sort of thing that could be tackled head on without that.]
Mm... okay, that sounds good.
[In truth, Minato's not much for cold weather, but he can at least appreciate the fun of spending time with someone else--and also in Sinistra actually suggesting an activity.]</small. Have you ever had a snowball fight?
no subject
A snowball fight? No... what do you do? I do not want to hurt you...
no subject
It's not dangerous. I guess it sounds kind of bad, huh...?
[He flashes Sinistra a small smile, shaking his head.]
You make snowballs out of the snow, and throw them at each other. Since the snow is so soft, it doesn't hurt to get hit by them.
no subject
[ He won't lie about it. Fighting isn't fun to him! But he does trust Minato on these things. ]
If you say it is fun and I don't have to hurt you, then I will try it.
[ He wants to help Minato, after all, and a distraction seems good right now. ]
no subject
Minato's weak to cold, so it probably won't take him long to cave and want to go back inside, but for now...!! For now, he is strong.
For now, he crouches to pat snow lightly into a small ball, not all that compact, and then he tosses it just as lightly to Sin in an underhand through so it's pretty easy to catch.]
See? Snowballs like this.
no subject
He stands just a few feet away as Minato crouches down and digs into the snow. He's observing in silence, wondering who first thought to do this kind of thing with snow. Thoughts of a man who, until recently, had only played chess and knew nothing else of games.
He catches the ball and looks just a bit amazed. ]
It held together.
no subject
[Minato quickly makes another snowball, and chucks it at the wall of Sin's house, where it splats apart very easily.]
See? That's why it's not dangerous to throw them at each other, so long as you avoid any ice.
no subject
He nods, understanding now how it works. He's still not totally keen on throwing things at Minato, but if it's a game he wants to try, Sinistra will do it.
He leans down and grabs some snow in his bare hands, balling it up in his palms. He also throws it at the wall, showing that he got Minato's lesson loud and clear. ]
Is there a goal to the fight?
no subject
And Minato just nods firmly and, quite solemnly:]
The goal is to have a good time.
[GOT IT?]
no subject
[ it sounds simple enough, though his hands are already cold. He nods at Minato.]
Shall we begin?
