Who: Minato, youuu and also questfriends eventually, probably
Where: Around Town, Near The Woods
When: Nebulous November Time
What: In which Minato's depressed Aigis is gone, distractions are attempted to be found, and he's way too close to the woods (also, quests)
Warnings: None atm!
A - distractions will surely help;
[It never really gets easier when people go home, but Aigis... Aigis was special. There was so much left unsaid, so much that he should have told her before she left, and now the thought that he's lost his chance to do so forever is... honestly really hard to swallow.
It's impossible not to notice that she's gone. Her room (and Levy's, too...) is empty, and while he's grateful for Valvatorez still being there so that he's not entirely left alone again, it's still far too quiet.
So he tries to keep himself busy. It'll be pretty easy to find him, considering he's out wandering pretty exclusively; he doesn't want to go back to the empty house, so he can be found fishing at the dock, head bowed, or listlessly walking through the town, hands shoved into his pockets and headphones on, or picking up skeleton bones to pile them up with a distant frown on his face.
Boy he looks like he's having such a great time.]
B - distractions, take two;
[Eventually, he tries something different when that's not working; he gathers what he has for ingredients, and he bakes. He's gotten much better at baking in this place after the past six or seven odd months here, because it's not like there's much more to do. They're nothing special, since he can only work with what he's got, but there's plenty of honey and some chocolate from his color rewards previously and since pie crusts have color restored...!!
... Well, flour isn't restored yet, but presumably mixing colorless flour and eggs with color to make pie crust and only pie crust makes it suddenly have color...? That's bizarre but Minato's getting pretty used to the town's weird rules, it's fine.
So! Apple pie and chocolate pie it is, sweetened with honey, complete with purple milk for the chocolate pie (does that make the chocolate pie purple-brown...?), and they turn out...pretty okay! However, it's infinitely more pie than he is willing to personally eat, so.
Knock knock, there's Minato at your door with a slice of pie.]
...Do you want this?
[Please take it.]
C - this is the bad option;
[Minato knows better, he really does. But...
It doesn't stop him from standing right at the edge of the woods, close enough to be beneath the shaded boughs, peering into the trees. It's cold, so he's got his hoodie on, hands tucked deeply into the pocket, scarf wrapped tightly around his neck...
But he's looking a bit too intently out there, fingers idly toying with the charm Guren gave him in his pocket, looking perhaps a bit too deeply in thought.
Watch him long enough without interrupting, and he might even take a step deeper into the woods.
(He knows he shouldn't, he really does, but... but what if they're all out there?)]
D - wildcard/quests

Mm... I'd like that, I think.
[He's quiet for a moment, but this time it's to try to get his thoughts in order--and then he nods.]
Her name is Aigis, and... she's a battle robot.
[YEP.]
But...even though she's a robot, she's also so kind, and sweet, and protective and caring. All on her own...that's the person she's decided to be.
no subject
But he's... serious, she thinks, so—well, given the circumstances, she'll hold her many questions for a later time. The robot is his friend, and he misses her; that's all she really needs to know at this point in time.]
Aigis, [she slowly repeats, making sure to properly pronounce it.] It sounds like she's everything anyone could want in a friend. And she's a robot! I wish I could have met her.
[She leans back over his way and gently bumps into him one again.]
It was nice having her with you, wasn't it? But it's also nice to know that she's safe, even though you miss her.
[She says it softly, kindly, because she knows that feeling very well indeed.]

Thankfully, Ochako makes the right call there with not taking it as a joke, and... well, her words are spot on too. He might never get to see her again from here, but...
But...
She at least safe. She's home, with Mitsuru and Yukari and the others. She's...
He hopes she's happy.]
... You're right... You know, Ochako-san, you're pretty wise.
[It's said softly, this time with a hint of a teasing tone.]
It does make me feel better to think of it that way. She's safe, and with our other friends... that's the best place for her.
[Not tied down to him, stuck in a past she can't return to.]

It's hard, I know, but... it really is good for people to go home. Even though I still miss Yaomomo, I'm glad she wasn't here for the werewolves, or the sirens, or anything else, you know? We just have to hang in there until we can see them again! And we will.
[Too bad that she knows nothing about Minato's tragique circumstances!! Hearing that is probably like a stab to the heart, my dude, but Ochako is oblivious as she opens her arms and goes in for a hug. A loose one, since Minato isn't really the touchy-feely sort, but! She knows how it feels to lose people you care for! Just because he seems slightly more cheerful now doesn't mean that he feels GREAT, and what's more comforting than a hug from a friend?]
It never gets better, but it does get easier. I promise.

It's true that those words don't really make him feel better at all; thinking about how he'll never see them again is an extra painful thing, but something that losing Aigis has put back into stark contrast for him. Still, he's at least already been thinking about it, so Ochako's words... just get a soft sigh from him.
It's fine. She doesn't know, and...she doesn't need to know, especially at a time like this when it would only make her feel bad. Instead, Minato...does lean into that hug, eyes sliding shut for a moment, lifting his arms to hug Ochako back even. He may not be super touchy-feely, but the people in the town tend to be, and he's getting used to it.
Also... it's kind of nice right now.]
... You're right about that. [Most everything gets easier with time, doesn't it?] I'll be okay, I think... It just really took me by surprise.
[Aigis is... Aigis. From the moment he met her, she was always by his side, always dependable, always there when he needed her. Waking up to her gone before him was...shocking, to say the least.]

Not getting to say goodbye is the worst part. But just remember that I'm here for you, okay, Minato-kun? And if you ever want to talk about her, or about anything else—it's never too heavy. You're a good friend! [One of her favorite friends she's made here, actually, but she doesn't want him to think that she's only saying that out of some misguided sense of sympathy.] We'll get through everything together.
no subject
But...well, he thinks that might be a bit embarrassing to say, so for now, he just smiles a little, dipping his head.]
Yeah... you're right. We're in this together, so...that helps. It really does.
[He feels less lonely, at least--which is huge.]
... Did you come out here this early to fish? Maybe we can fish a bit together.
