Who: Minato, youuu and also questfriends eventually, probably
Where: Around Town, Near The Woods
When: Nebulous November Time
What: In which Minato's depressed Aigis is gone, distractions are attempted to be found, and he's way too close to the woods (also, quests)
Warnings: None atm!
A - distractions will surely help;
[It never really gets easier when people go home, but Aigis... Aigis was special. There was so much left unsaid, so much that he should have told her before she left, and now the thought that he's lost his chance to do so forever is... honestly really hard to swallow.
It's impossible not to notice that she's gone. Her room (and Levy's, too...) is empty, and while he's grateful for Valvatorez still being there so that he's not entirely left alone again, it's still far too quiet.
So he tries to keep himself busy. It'll be pretty easy to find him, considering he's out wandering pretty exclusively; he doesn't want to go back to the empty house, so he can be found fishing at the dock, head bowed, or listlessly walking through the town, hands shoved into his pockets and headphones on, or picking up skeleton bones to pile them up with a distant frown on his face.
Boy he looks like he's having such a great time.]
B - distractions, take two;
[Eventually, he tries something different when that's not working; he gathers what he has for ingredients, and he bakes. He's gotten much better at baking in this place after the past six or seven odd months here, because it's not like there's much more to do. They're nothing special, since he can only work with what he's got, but there's plenty of honey and some chocolate from his color rewards previously and since pie crusts have color restored...!!
... Well, flour isn't restored yet, but presumably mixing colorless flour and eggs with color to make pie crust and only pie crust makes it suddenly have color...? That's bizarre but Minato's getting pretty used to the town's weird rules, it's fine.
So! Apple pie and chocolate pie it is, sweetened with honey, complete with purple milk for the chocolate pie (does that make the chocolate pie purple-brown...?), and they turn out...pretty okay! However, it's infinitely more pie than he is willing to personally eat, so.
Knock knock, there's Minato at your door with a slice of pie.]
...Do you want this?
[Please take it.]
C - this is the bad option;
[Minato knows better, he really does. But...
It doesn't stop him from standing right at the edge of the woods, close enough to be beneath the shaded boughs, peering into the trees. It's cold, so he's got his hoodie on, hands tucked deeply into the pocket, scarf wrapped tightly around his neck...
But he's looking a bit too intently out there, fingers idly toying with the charm Guren gave him in his pocket, looking perhaps a bit too deeply in thought.
Watch him long enough without interrupting, and he might even take a step deeper into the woods.
(He knows he shouldn't, he really does, but... but what if they're all out there?)]
D - wildcard/quests

kalisona or via PM if you'd like a personalized prompt or to plot! I'll probably toss quests in here too when they're released.]

[Akira approaches him, because he isn't sure why Minato is piling up skeleton bones like that, and something about the whole thing doesn't sit right with him. For one thing, the activity itself is pretty morbid, and for another, his expression as he does it is worrying.
Akira has one hand held up, stopping only a few feet away.]
What's up?
no subject
[Minato makes a bit of a face as he sets the bone down in a pile, brushing off his hands.]
I just thought we should do something about these, you know...? They're everywhere.
no subject
[He wonders if that's all it is, but he knows he won't get much out of Minato from questioning him directly. So instead, he looks around, before walking closer to a nearby bone.]
Want some help?
no subject
[Nobody really likes picking up bones, but...
If Akira really does want to help, Minato thinks that maybe, he really wouldn't mind the company.]
no subject
[He smiles a little at that, before bending to pick up a bone. Yeah, it's... definitely gross, but he's willing to do it.]
no subject
Let's see how much we can get done, then.
[And with that, for now, Minato lapses into silence, focusing almost grimly on the task in front of them. At least it's something to take his mind off of things...?]
no subject
Eventually, though, he can't help but speak, if only because something has entered his mind.]
Is this what they mean by graveyard shift?
[A bad joke.]
no subject
That must be why I feel bone tired doing this.
[This is what protag bonding looks like.]
no subject
He picks up a skeleton hand, and gives a little wave with it at Minato.]
We just have to knuckle down.
no subject
[!!]
Very... humerous.
[MORE BONES, into the pile 'o bones.]
no subject
I had to do something to lighten the mood. You were being too sternum.
[And in go some more!]
no subject
Minato snorts despite himself, shaking his head.]
Ah... I think I ran out of bone puns, actually...
no subject
Me too.
[He tosses the last bones he has in his hands into the pile.]
At least I got a laugh out of you.
no subject
... Sorry... was I worrying you?
no subject
[He shrugs.]
You're trying to keep your mind off something, right?
[That much is obvious.]
no subject
[...A sigh, and Minato shrugs a little. Fair's fair--Akira told Minato when Yusuke went home.]
One of my team... she went home recently.
no subject
[Not necessarily that she went home, but... He knows Minato was probably happy to see her. To have her leave again so soon, it must be lonely.]
Did you get to spend some time with her, at least?
no subject
[It could be worse, right...?
But it could've been better, too.]
It was really good to see her again, I guess I'm just... I wish I would've made more of that time.
no subject
...Things left unsaid?
[Maybe there's a chance they'll meet again... or maybe there isn't. Akira feels like there's a lot more to Minato's circumstances than he's been told, but he's not sure what that means yet.]
no subject
[A long pause, and Minato looks at the pile of bones, gaze distant.]
But... doesn't it feel like there'll always be things left unsaid with the people you care about...?
no subject
[Does it...? Hm. It certainly felt that with with Akechi for him, even if their circumstances were... different.
Did it feel that way for Futaba and Haru and Makoto? Probably. It seems like there's never enough time...]
That's why it's good to tell people if you have something to say.
no subject
... It's easier said than done sometimes, isn't it...?
no subject
[After all, it's not something Akira is good at, either. He can listen, he can give affirmations and advice, but when it comes to himself, his feelings...
Maybe he'll leave a lot of things unsaid, too.]
I think... your friends know, though. Even if you didn't say it.
no subject
[He doesn't know if it's true or not, but he sure hopes so.]
Thankfully... I have good friends here to remind me of those things too. Thanks, Akira-san... for looking out for me like this.
no subject
Someone has to.
[But he only means it to tease. Though it is true - Minato needs people who care, because he isn't the kind of person to care about himself.]
When we're done with this, want to get dinner?
[They can talk about nicer things next.]
