What: A team goes to see if they can chat up some ghosts outside of town

[ Everything is ready, including Nico. He spent the day preparing food offerings, packed them up in a sack and texted the people he was going to invite along. It was a simple message "Ghost raising tonight. Meet at church after sundown. Nico" that went out to everyone in his party about noon. He even sent it to Guren just in case the man was no longer grounded and still wanted to come along.

Nico is standing around at the church shortly before sunset in case anyone decides to show up early, his sake of offerings sitting at his feet. Most of the chitchat before everyone arrives is idle and not very informative. If he's going to be giving instructions or details then he'd prefer to only have to do it once. Once everyone is gathered, he nods. Sasuke's advice from earlier is kept in mind and before they even head out into the woods, he decides to give everyone the rundown on what's going to happen. ]

So now that most of us are here, let me explain what'll happen. We'll head out into the forest a little ways and Percy's very large dog will dig a hole. I'll do some chanting, throw an offering into the hole and a sort of wispy fog will form that will sort of look like humans. The figures will come forward to partake of the offering and become solid form. From there we can start asking questions. [ Hopefully. ] We don't need a whole lot of ghosts so I'll have to keep chanting and focusing to keep the others at bay. Once we have a few fully-formed ghosts, I will banish the rest so we can have a nice chat with them.

[ This leader thing is not something Nico is used to but only two people here have actually done this before - him and Percy. ]

John will be our air support and keep a look out for any outside threats that might interfere with the ritual. [ He nods at the teen once. ] Percy will stick close to the center with me so he can keep an eye on everything and because I know for a fact that his sword works on ghosts. Everyone else, fan out in a circle and do your best to keep most of the ghosts at bay. Mrs. O'Leary... the dog can get anyone back to town if they get hurt. Oh and don't freak out when you see her because when I say she's very large, I mean that she's the size of a tank.

If the ghosts are capable, everyone should be able to get a chance to ask things so think about what you want to say.

[ His eyes move through the group of people collected. ]

[ dave immediately raises his hand, although his question is. not super important. i.e.: ] Do I get to pet the dog??? [ probably it's safe to just give him an eyeroll and move on. ] Because I would like to pet the dog? How big of a tank are we talking here? I don't actually know many different types but like. Does she slobber??? Is it buckets of slobber??

[ ........apparently he has no questions about the actual plan. just the dog. ]

[There's a slight laugh.]

It is a tidal wave of slobber. [He loves his dog.] But she's pretty friendly to people who are friendly to her.

I can do air support. [That seems to be the main thing, and he thinks about his actual question for a few moments.] What're our chances of summoning someone that's not going to actually want to talk to us though?

[ A simple nod as John accepts his role as air support and then he focuses on the important thing. ]

I can't really say for sure. When I tried to summon ghosts here in town, not a single one showed up so I have no idea if we'll even get one out in the forest. If we can get at least one person who will talk to us, we might have to consider ourselves lucky.

[ He frowns. ] Personally, I find it more unusual that I couldn't summon anyone in a town where people should have lived and died.

Have you always been successful with your summoning? [He frowns in thought.] Sometimes our powers don't work that well in town. Dave's powers get kind of messed up in town, but mine work just fine.

[Val is a bazillion years old, but that doesn't count!! Sasuke ends up being the (1) Adult™ on this trip. Strangely, he stands like a silent sentinel near the edge and back of the group without really giving much input to planning or teamwork.

It seems maybe he's already spoken enough with Nico.

He has no questions, but everyone else is free to bug him while they're standing around the church to collect themselves, figuring out what has to be done once they all get inside.

Otherwise...

It's just a matter of going into the forest.

Typically, he's use to recon work, alone, being fast and hidden as appropriate for a ninja. With a gaggle of teenagers, however, even with an ancient demon vampire, he stays with them, lingering near the outer edge and toward the back. He wants to keep them all mostly within line of sight. In case something in the forest surprises them. The sharingan is activated so he can pick up on any quick movements.]

I can be a distraction if it's required. I assume all of you have some ability to defend yourselves as it is.

[But also Nico is plenty aware of the fact Val can transform into a dragon and stop whatever from following the rest of them.]
