QUEST 30 (TRICK OR TREAT). - open to all

[So here's the fun part about being a witch when Halloween is impending: she's got all sorts of interesting ways of playing harmless "tricks" on people. Granted, she'll kind of feel people out first to see if they've got a sense of humor about it before she ever asks, but if your character seems like a good sport who can handle a little fun, rest assured she'll be making good use of her red credentials and popping the question: ]

Hey, trick or treat!

[And, in the event that one is not provided, she'll use illusion magic to draw on your face! This might come in the form of huge Groucho Marx eyebrows, or a handlebar mustache, or cat whiskers, or something else that's essentially harmless (no dicks will be drawn on anyone's faces unless explicitly OOCly requested). This illusion will last twenty-four hours before fading, and is pretty much indelible; it can't be covered up or removed unless you've got magic of your own that can dispel hers!]

Oh! Um, hold on.

( trick or treat, and jon automatically starts sifting through his pockets, tongue pressed to the upper row of his teeth as he searches through them until he manages to pull out a napkin full of dried strawberries. look, it's important to always keep stuff on you when you're a growing boy!!

aand offers the napkin out to summer, grin on his lips. )

I've got a treat.

[OH NO OH NO THAT'S SO CUTE. Look at Jon go, always prepared like a proper boy scout. She almost feels bad about taking one of his strawberries, except that she never feels bad about taking food and that's kind of the whole point of this anyway.]

All right, a treat it is.

[She plucks a strawberry and pops it into her mouth.]

Mm, these are great. Have you been getting asked that question a lot lately?

Not that much! But I've always got treats on me.

( he gets hungry, ok. don't judge him. she takes one and he takes one after, shoves it into his mouth before offering his napkin full back towards her. sharing is caring. )

Bet you thought you'd get to pull a trick, but no sirree, I'm always ready.

Aww. I had a really good trick up my sleeve, too.

[But alas, he has escaped her trickiness this time. OR HAS HE.]

Of course I do!

( how is he so excited? who knows, but jon definitely. is. look, he's practically bouncing on his heels. )

I want to see a cool trick!

Haha, all right. Hold still —

[She raises a finger aloft, then makes a few theatrical sweeping motions for good measure before pointing at Jon's face and drawing a few short, straight lines from the tip of his nose out over his cheeks.]

Abracadabra. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.

[She grins at him, then digs in her pocket for a little hand mirror and holds it up to show him the set of black cat's whiskers she's just magicked onto his face.]

( there's a wrinkle to his nose at the spell because he's. definitely trying to solve the mystery of what the heck that means. until she holds up the mirror and shows him the whiskers, and jon looks even more excited. is that even possible? he's doing it. )

Oh, wow! Cool! How'd you do that?!

Magic!

[Good thing she's got a whole assortment of vaguely flashy but ultimately harmless parlor tricks at her disposal. They're good for moments like this, when she wants to do something fun like snap her fingers and create a flurry of miniature purple fireworks above them.

Which she does.]

That's what witches do best, you know?

( her nifty tricks are definitely enough to please jon, who claps his hands together when the mini purple fireworks start going off, smile wide at his lips. )

I knew of a really cool magician, back home! Her name is Zatanna.

Oh, yeah? What kind of magic does she do, sleight of hand?

[Because she notes he does say magician, which could possibly be a slightly different distinction between witch and wizard and the like.]

She does real magic. Part of a superhero team and everything!

( or was?? something like that. )

She says stuff backwards and blam, it happens!

Don't you mean mlab, it happens?

[BACKWARDS MAGIC.]

That's pretty neat. Why does it have to be backwards?

Oh, yeah. Mlab.

( but the question catches him off guard a bit, raising an index finger to press against his lips. )

I really don't know? I'm sure there's a reason for it, but no one's told me.
