QUEST 28 - VAL

[Quest info here!]

[It's not that hard to decide which of these quests is the easiest. As it is, Percy approaches the garden with the full intention of carving a pumpkin and dragging someone along with him. Unfortunately, that someone is Val because Percy's a sadist and has a lot more questions for the vampire-demon than he cares to admit.

He meets Val at the head of the garden, waving a hand before slipping it into his pocket.]

Hey dude. Hope you have some ideas.

[promissum]

[ Percy is a rude child, but honestly he gets a kick out of it. In a strange way he's reminded of Fuka- which may or may not be an insult.

Besides, before anything else Val's sense of duty wins out.]

What do people normally carve into these? Faces?

[hydrokinetics]

[Sorry about him, like, all the time, but he's genuinely a good kid otherwise? Val please?? But anyway, he figures it'll be something they can tackle together so...he shrugs.]

Faces, places, logos...pretty much whatever you want. There isn't really a wrong way to do this pumpkin carving thing.

[Not intimidating...!]

Very well. Are there knives here?

[Because he might have a sword on him, but it's much too large to successfully do anything but maul a pumpkin.]

[There's a gesture.] Looks like someone set up everything to make it easier on us. [Dave. Dave set up a bunch of stuff and it looks like they came at a not-busy time. That makes it a little easier and he moves ahead.]

You'll want one that's big enough to have a surface to work on, but not too big that it's going to be hard to gut it. [Is he excited? Incredibly.]

[He'll pick out a medium sized pumpkin without much trouble and settle down, carving out the top.]

Is this a tradition for you?

[He'll also take a medium-sized pumpkin and start carving the top. This is the easy part.]

Yeah. It's a Halloween thing where I'm from. People do it all the time and leave them on their porches or outside of their front doors as decoration.

To ward off bad luck? Or just something to do?

[Like... what's the reason here?]

There was probably a reason in ye olde whatever, but now it's just for fun. Demons know how to have fun, don't they?

QUEST 29 - NICO AND SADIE

[hydrokinetics]

[Quest info here!]

[So like. Monsters. He can think of two people to have his back when he needs to fight monsters, and it isn't too difficult to contact both Nico and Sadie to get them to meet him at the edge of the woods. He figures it's better to work together, not to mention the fact that it's easier to keep an eye on both kids this way.

It'd be nice if they got to know each other better, but that's his own thought process. What better way to bond than by fighting stuff?

So yeah. He's waiting for them, Riptide in his hand in pen form as he twirls it between his fingers. Which kid shows up first?]

[ Turns out it's Nico who shows up first. Which he does by just walking up to where Percy is waiting. His own Stygian sword is at his hip in its near permanent place these days but he technically doesn't need it - not for this particular quest.

Hands are stuffed into the pockets of his coat but when he steps up to Percy, one hand drags out a small sack. Which he holds out to the older demigod. ]

Here, take it. [ Inside are three cubes of ambrosia, not a whole lot but more than either of them had before. He kept half for himself and the rest are going to Percy. ] Found it in my room when I woke up this morning.

[Somehow that doesn't surprise him, actually. It's like Nico to actually be a little more punctual than Percy or Sadie would be given they're their own brand of chaotic, but it makes him feel better knowing where Nico's at.

Still, he's surprised by the offering and he takes the sack, pocketing his pen and untying it.]

Sweet. [No, he's still surprised, but he recognizes it immediately and begins to retie the bundle.] Thanks, dude. It'll be good to have on-hand for whenever. Might've been a quest reward.

[Sadie should probably apologize for being the last to arrive. She won't, because she's Like That, and when she comes into view she's walking up the path at a leisurely pace, fiddling with a red ring on her finger.

When she spots them, she raises her hand in a wave and calls out.]

Hey! Haven't kept you two waiting long, I hope.

[ If Percy is worried about Nico going off on his own to fight some skeletons, he shouldn't. These things aren't like other undead beings they've had to face down. They're pretty easy.

He nods in response to the older demigod's response. Nico had figured the ambrosia was a some sort of quest reward. ] Try to not need it now that we have some.

[ Then his attention is drawn away to the blond approaching them and Nico shifts to include her in a triangle formation. ]

I got here not long before you did. Let's go stomp some skeletons. Are we going in with a plan or just winging it?

[He makes a face because wow excuse you, child, he'll be fine and probably won't need ambrosia? But he automatically shifts to include Sadie in the formation as well and he doesn't even seem to think that she's really late. The ring gets his attention but he doesn't say anything about it, shaking his head at both of their statements.]

Seeing how I got here not long before he did and didn't come up with a plan? Figured we'd be fine winging it. Most of the monsters that wander around out here are easy enough to figure out. It'll be like training.

Plans are boring anyway!

[This is probably going to go terribly, but it'll be fun(?) so it's fine.]

Besides, we're three powerful, marginally capable human beings. I'm sure we can figure it out. [She grins.] Worst case scenario, we just blow them up and call it a day.

[ Don't give him that face, Percy. They both know you get into so much trouble.

Well, he figured the other demigo wouldn't have a plan but Nico's never worked alongside Sadie before. Guess she's a "no plan" kind of girl. Feels like maybe something will go horribly wrong. ]

Worst case scenario, I'll order them to disarm and then you can blow them up or knock them down. [ Maybe they'll literally pull off their arms...

This is why they take Nico along on quests involving the dead. He is their back-up. ]

[Forest quest, forest quest. Val is at the edge of the forest. While he's not bouncing in anticipation, he does look excited to get out there.

He does perk up and straighten as he spots Percy.]

Are you ready?

[hydrokinetics]

[Val...it's fine, Percy's pretty anxious to get going if only because it gives him something to do and it allows him to explore further. He approaches the edge of the forest and he waves a hand.]

About as ready as we can be. The forest likes to change on us though. Think you're prepared for that?

[promissum]

Of course! The item worlds change on me every time we go in there, so this shouldn't be a problem.

[He's excited to go out and explore. The town can only relieve his boredom for so long before he needs to go fight or find something to do.]

[hydrokinetics]

If you say so. [Given how casual he is though he doesn't seem like he disagrees. With that, there's a grin and Percy turns to begin heading straight into the woods.] Got a destination in mind, or are we just going until we see something interesting? Sometimes the latter actually works out.

We're just going in. I'm sure we'll find something or other.

[With so few leads he'll take anything at all.]

Sometimes I feel like the forest is splitting itself up so that different people find different things every time they go in. I've only gone in a few times before but it was always a different outcome. I don't think I've heard of anyone actually going in and having a normal experience.

As long as it's not mutant bees again, I'll take it.

I've gone in to explore with Zelda. We ended up finding some kind of holy pond.[Which would've probably been better if anybody but him found it, but they came back with some healing water. It's fine.]

Then let us begin.

I think you mentioned that before. The last couple of times I've been in haven't given me much to work with. I've had better luck with the ocean. [For obvious reasons. He'll follow right along with his hands in his pockets.] I wouldn't recommend it to everybody though.
