and away the skeleton shambles, almost certainly going straight toward you in its escape attempts... and it's missing an arm? from just a couple feet away stands 5'5 zelda with that missing skeleton arm in her hand, brandished like a weapon. yes you better believe she's even priming it with some soft hits against the palm of her hand like it's a goddamn club. this is how you do it in hyrule baby. ]

Go on, take it out! Teach it a lesson about encroaching on the safety of the town. Unholy abominations such as these cannot be given leeway.

[ "hey zelda, chill" - no, this happens all the time in hyrule and she hates it. ]

II. Local holy woman rounds up kickball team with a skeleton head.

[ to whoever you may be, she's tossing a ball over to you -- no just kidding, it's the head of a skeleton she whacked off. it's still shaking a little, the last vestiges of its cursed existence still clinging on for dear life! fun! ]

Give it a swift kick to that shambling hoard over there - [ pointing to a few skeletons sadly shambling over ] - I want to conduct a test and take notes. It's for the good of the quest.

(also she's still carrying the arm of a skeleton like a weapon, because that's just what you do in hyrule when skeletons act tough and try to jump you.) ]

[ are you part of the exclusive red club (of like 33 people)? then congratulations, because during the month you're going to have a very smiley zelda knocking on your door, basket tucked into one of her arms by the elbow. it looks like something is inside? what could it be? well don't worry about that right now because-- ]

Good day! In the spirit of the quest, I am here to request from you a treat. Now if you are not prepared to provide me with something to my liking, I shall have no choice but to impose trickery on you. Please do not take it personally, as it's just in good fun, but I also won't go easy on you just because of my good heart.

[ ooc: no non-quest prompts at the moment but that might change as the month goes on! if you want to do something with zelda outside quests though, she'll be spending a good chunk of her month between the church, tidying up and praying as usual, and outside the forest hunting for bugs and lizards for her elixirs with her bare hands. toss that up into a wildcard toplevel and we can roll with it.

[Red club member here minding his own business, only a little slow in answering the door when Zelda knocks because he's already having a weird time this month and waiting to see if the knocking gets louder and more impatient is the Chroma version of screening phone calls.

That is exactly the rule! [ says zelda, not knowing what the rules are but she's just rolling with this. ] Remember though, don't take it too hard. I'm only doing this as part of a quest.

[ with that said, she digs into her basket and pulls out a glass vial. it isn't much larger than a cup and looks perfect to drink from. only the liquid inside is a shade of sapphire and its rather thick looking, like medicine. ]

[She had mystery drinks prepared, too, incredible. He takes the vial from her and looks at her with a disbelieving expression, like, is this it...]

I wonder if it counts as a "trick" if I'm expecting it, [he says this, but whatever, he's going to knock this little vial back like a shot, anyway. Bottoms up!!]

the elixir has a rather cool taste to it, refreshing even, and for a few seconds reim won't really feel any different. but like a switch turned, his body temperature will begin to rapidly cool down and chill, as if he were standing in the middle of snowy weather without a warm jacket on. it isn't a matter of clothing here though, as the elixir takes quick effect over his whole body. congratulations on taking her chilly elixir - used commonly for crossing the blazing hot deserts of gerudo valley. ]

Hmm.

[Well, it has a nice, crisp... flavor? Like really good ice water? But he doesn't really get the point, until he's abruptly getting very cold, very quickly. He holds the vial back out to her hastily, like handing it back will reverse this very concerning effect—]

Am I- I'm sorry, but am I dying? [no, reim] Or at least poisoned?

[These are the most likely explanations!!]

[ she takes the vial back when he offers it, surprised at his manners even now, and just chuckles. ]

It wouldn't be much of a trick if I told you what was happening.

[ the good news is it'll wear off in under fifteen minutes due to low potency, and won't get worse over time. the bad news is, well, everything else. ]

I think murder is a bit much for a trick...!!

[Are his teeth chattering?? What's happening, princess??? Maybe if he holds very still, it will circulate through his system slower.

Ahaha! Relax, I wouldn't poison you. Consider this... an experiment.

[ and on that note, she's going to reach for the sheikah slate on her belt and ping it awake so she can punch in some notes about his state. ugh she really should have starter a timer from the moment he drank, and this isn't really a controlled environment, but it does look to be effective at least. ]

Your body will go back to normal in time. How long it takes is what I'll measure in observation of your state.

An elixir! I mix them out of natural resources from the land.

[ what those resources are she'll tell if he asks, but he will regret the answer. she's very excited while explaining this however, her mad scientist side unleashed. ]

Together they mix into temporary combat augments, healing potions, and physiological shifts in the body. The latter of which you're experiencing.

[You know, he's just going to pretend that was made out of pure, filtered water and like, maybe some perfectly edible herbs or something. Like a mysterious tea instead of something terrible.]

Not to be rude while I freeze to death from the inside out, but why do you have that elixir?

Typically they're mixed when crossing the desert valleys in the southern lands of my country. Travelers wouldn't be able to safely cross under the hot sun without one of these elixirs to cool them down.

I am sorry, but like I said, it's in the spirit of the quest. I promise the elixir won't cause permanent damage to your systems. It's a very common mixture.

[ all her elixirs are ones that can be easily made by the every day person who just knows what they're doing. it's not even very potent since she avoided mixing in monster parts. ]
