he day is normal. It's a bit chillier than it's been, the nip of fall in the air, but as the new people in the Town settle in... things have gotten peaceful. And yet. When everyone goes out to greet their neighbors, to hug their friends, to shake hands or make eye contact or who knows what -- they'll realize very, very quickly that nothing about today is normal at all, actually. [There's a pause, while he cranes his neck a bit, and then...] I'm sorry, but what is that behind you?

[Rin looks over his shoulder in brief surprise.]

[He stands up, turning around so Connor can see the big fluffy tail attached to Rin's back.]

I'm uh. Not completely human.

...Yes. So I can see.

[Why does he have... a tail? He said he's not human, so he's apparently not just a person who enjoys dressing up as animals as a recreational hobby.]

What are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Demon. Half, actually. My mom was human, but she passed away when I was born.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. [Condolences are a thing you give to a statement like that, right? But he's more interested in the demon part.] But you're a demon? Like Mr. Valvatorez?

Not like I really knew her.

Dunno who that is! There are other demons here?

He's the only one I've met. He has pointed ears and talks a lot about comrades.

[He's pretty nice for a guy that wants to scare humans.]

[Was he an unknown Demon King? Or just a relatively high level with some related kin? Is this a demon Rin even wants to meet? Some weren't exactly happy with his existence...]

I mean, I was raised like I was human for most of my life, so I don't really know how actual uh... Gehenna-born demons work all that well.

[He isn't sure what that means. His systems weren't really made with anything more than cursory understandings of religions and myths, and without the internet he can't search for anything more.
