Event Eleven.

"Four ducks on a pond,
A grass-bank beyond,
A blue sky of spring,
White clouds on the wing;
What a little thing
To remember for years --
To remember with tears!"

he day is normal. It's a bit chillier than it's been, the nip of fall in the air, but as the new people in the Town settle in... things have gotten peaceful.

And yet. When everyone goes out to greet their neighbors, to hug their friends, to shake hands or make eye contact or who knows what -- they'll realize very, very quickly that nothing about today is normal at all, actually.

Hopefully nobody minds a little extra sharing today.

Welcome to Awash's eleventh event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

You are welcome to start your own posts or logs for this event as well. If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!

I've been looked after. These are just scratches.

[You know, visible, on his face. No one will bully him into Magical Healing, he won't allow it. He's fine!!!]

If you say so. Just don't forget to rest.

[He lightly nudges Reim's shoulder, at that--expecting the grasping of hands earlier had already fulfilled the terms of memory exchange, but then the scene will shift for Reim.

you're in a hollow of a cave in the middle of winter. it's snowing heavily outside, and your leg is injured. you have a fire, at least, but it'll only last so long, and if you can't get out of here, you'll freeze to death tonight.

---

you wake up somewhere warm and dry, your leg bandaged up. small children peer down at you, cheering excitedly when you come to, before their mother comes in to explain that her husband found you and took you to their home last night. he went to go cultivate land on the mountain slopes, she says. he won't be back until tomorrow.

to your chagrin, your stomach growls and she laughs and goes to busy herself in the kitchen, when one of the children opens the screen door to the outside. before your eyes is a green field of rice, and you can't help but wonder if you were seeing things.

---

you weren't. you go out into the fields the next morning to thank the man who saved your life, and you see it again. he finds you there -- tells you not to push yourself too hard -- and soon after admits he's been the one who cultivated all of these fields. It's nothing special, he says, I've just been working on them nonstop.

(there's a sweet scent in the air, you realize, suddenly. a familiar one. where do you know it from...?)

I'm tougher than most. I can work day and night without a problem.

(now you know.)

Ginko blinks as the thought of that incident flashes across his mind, before he realizes what's occurred again, and he chuckles softly.]

[Oh-- so that's what that's like; seeing someone else's memory. It hasn't happened to him nearly as much as his own memories have just spread around every single person he's talked to lately. And that was...

He clears his throat, lifting a hand to sort of half-cover his mouth, doing his best to hide the slight smile there. Now listen-]

Saying such things about resting, and then a memory like that comes through...? If I didn't know better, I'd wager you've figured out how to pick one at will.

That would be convenient, wouldn't it?

[It's a nicer memory than some of the ones he's shared, certainly--even with how it begins. He'd visited that valley again a few times down the road, and that family had still been happy and peaceful--even in the times the fields weren't quite so green. He's glad for them.]

I wouldn't avoid memories like that one, certainly.

It was... peaceful, for the most part.

[Besides the near-death, anyway. If nothing else, this week has been informative about just how different each of their lives are from each other's.]

Yes. Happily it was able to remain so, even when those fields weren't able to remain as perpetually green.

[He seems fond in his recollection, even though in truth, he barely knew them for a week before he had to move on, as he always does.]

I'd been concerned about them, at the time, but they were able to settle things amongst themselves.
