A grass-bank beyond, A blue sky of spring, White clouds on the wing; What a little thing To remember for years -- To remember with tears!" | |
Welcome to Awash's eleventh event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. |
respect him pls
The hat is a bit much, I know, but it isn't stupid— [Which is as far as he gets in his defense of his weird summon thing, as it floats curiously over to Sierra and bumps unceremoniously into her shoulder. It does nothing at all when Reim touches it, but his very close connection to it is apparently enough for that much to count as touching him, and so—
It's a scene in the middle of a courtyard, with Reim bustling around a bunch of excitable young people who are enjoying their midday tea. They seem to be in the middle of trying to convince one of them, a dark-haired young man almost as tall as Reim himself and clearly too old to be sulking like a child, to stop sulking like a child over how many things Reim does better than him, including "humility" and "looking good in uniform."
It's ridiculous. Reim spends a whole minute singing the praises of this young man's knitting abilities and thanking him for a scarf, while two other teens babble incessantly about his cooking. The dark-haired young man is near tears. Reim's thoughts on this matter are completely sincere, like that really is the best scarf he's ever owned and this young man is really and truly dazzling.
Dazzling comes up a lot in his thoughts. What a wonderful man!! This goes on for a short time, before the memory cuts off when another young man arrives on the scene and abruptly makes everyone present feel a little uncomfortable, Reim included—
And here they are, in reality. Reim clears his throat.]
—As I was saying...
absolutely not
she can’t imagine being that honest about anything ever, let alone about her feelings for another person. there’s a look nearing disgust on her face when all is said and done, but mostly, she’s just the regular type of uncomfortable that comes from getting too intimate with a memory. ]
…
[ she pinches the bridge of her nose. ]
Do you still have the scarf?
no subject
Listen.]
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do! It's incredibly well-made!
[hmph!!]
no subject
[ hm, is she making fun of him ]
no subject
[It's A Lecture. Respect his scarf and his doofy friends.]
no subject
she can’t believe he retained the formality, and there’s a moment of genuine surprise on her face before she pretends like of course he would keep going with it. everyone else here has been so irreverent. ]
I am appreciative. [ look at her moving on like nothing happened. ] I appreciate… your cute bunny. I did mean it when I said it was stupid, but it’s cute, too.
no subject
It's a hare, technically... [As much as that matters, considering it is both giant and floating. And also, wearing a hat.] Thank you, I suppose.
no subject
[ is it, perhaps, his fursona… or in terms more appropriate to her world, is it the curse of a beast? a summon? ]
no subject
Oh, no- goodness, no. We are... connected, however, via contract, so I suppose we must intermingle in some fashion.
[Honestly these things don't make much sense.]
no subject
[ hmmmm. she’s certainly thinking about something, but it’s not clear what it is yet. ]
Back to the contracts… I’m still working on ours, but I’d like a clause that requires you to don a pair bunny ears. Hare ears, if you like. I think they’d suit you.
no subject
I quit.
no subject
[ for all this harassing she’s doing, though, she’s having a good time… she likes him. there’s something about his fussy nature that makes her want to tease, but not push him so far that he finds her unpleasant. what a tightrope. ]
Shouldn’t you give notice for this type of thing?
no subject
I'm afraid in dire straits such as these, emergency measures must be taken with excessive haste.
So no, I don't need to do that at all.
no subject
And after I so graciously gave you the option for hare ears, if you insisted on making a fuss… all right. I’ll strike it from the list. [ she smiles, genuinely pleasant instead of tricky this time. ] Come back. I’m not unreasonable.
no subject
Is that so? What is your next suggestion, then?
no subject
Let’s start over. I’ll show you a memory, too, so we’re even, and then we’ll move forward with your employment prospects.
[ she holds out her hand, almost like she’s expecting him to kiss it—but whatever he decides to do as long as he touches it will be fine with her. ]
no subject
[Somehow... it's because he's so good at being a secretary, that's what he means. Kind of.
Still, why not; it's worth seeing what happens for the sake of knowing, if nothing else, so he reaches out to take her hand. Not kiss it, jeez, calm down.]

sierra, surrounded by an angry mob—objectively, it’s quite a scary sight. they’re all townspeople, infuriated by her presence. the capital, they say, has fallen victim to hordes of vampires and zombies, and she’s one of them, infiltrating the once-peaceful town with her demonic presence. they contradict themselves by, in the same breath, demanding why she does nothing but sleep all day, but it’s lost in the fury of the mob.
“wait a minute, wait a minute. what’s going on here?” a man, an outsider, asks upon catching sight of sierra in the middle of the group.
“get out of here! this hussy is one of them!”
sierra blinks. “hussy?”
“that’s right! that’s right!! this pale faced woman is too suspicious!”
“…pale-faced woman?”
“hey, come on, stop it,” the man says, trying to be helpful. “this little girl—”
and before he can finish, sierra demands, with her rage at maximum— “little girl? who do you think i am?! from my view, you’re all just children! all that noise you’ve been making disturbed my sleep!”
without another warning, she raises her hand, the rune flashing just before the sky darkens and bolts of lightning are called down, reckless and irreverent, to shock the townspeople into scattering away from her with cries of fear, and yes, probably pain as well. the anger is unsightly on her youthful face, especially when she’s tried to keep herself undercover upon arrival in this town, but it fades into annoyed satisfaction just before the memory ends.
sierra herself, in the real world, looks… not at all contrite, but maybe surprised that that’s the memory that got shown. ]
no subject
At the same time.
She did call down a ton of lightning just to be petty... Sierra...]
...I see, [he manages, and looks at her for a moment, trying to gauge whether or not she'd appreciate some sympathetic platitudes or just wants him to keep refusing bunny ears requests.]
no subject
[ like that makes it better. in her mind, maybe a part of her deserved all that fury for siring the vampire that was behind the attacks in the first place, but any guilt she might have is hidden far below. ]
As you can see, I have a knack for crowd control.
no subject
[He doesn't know all the details, and he can't say he approves of throwing a bunch of lightning at people for calling her names - trying to attack her, certainly, but "little girl"? Please! But-]
For what it's worth... [ahem!!] You shouldn't have been treated that way.
no subject
[ it’s an unexpected bit of kindness. no one has ever told her this, when vampires have been nothing but a blight—even if sierra has only ever had a temper.
she pauses, and tries to make it not look like hesitation. ]
Flattery won’t get you anything, you know.
no subject
Is that so? I'll write "flattery is totally unnecessary and in fact discouraged" into my contract, shall I?
[He's petty, but at least for this it only goes skin deep; he isn't the type to bother her about her feelings or pester her with more kindness when she pauses like that. So. This.]
no subject
[ it’s more fun when he teases her, on the heels of that embarrassing display of kindness. this memory thing has her out of sorts, and the less sincere she can be, the better. ]
no subject
That remains to be seen. Perhaps flattery will be your reward for outstanding leadership.
[so, lol]
