t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. You're looking pretty good for getting broken up...

[ how are they here, if they are that same Ghost? Lupin is well aware that the dead can walk here; it's happened multiple times, including once to Akira (to his dismay.) He supposes he'd assumed it wouldn't work that way for the gems. According to Cairn, they didn't "die;" they were simply broken down until they were no longer a complete consciousness.

He then wonders why he's even wondering about it. There's so much inexplicable magic nonsense here that if he's going to question this, he might as well question everything. Ghost starts walking again, and he does too. ]

The two of you don't seem much alike.

[overlayed]

Thank you. [ They know it's a joke at their expense, but what else can they say? This is as strange to them as it is to Lupin, and they have even less information to work with. And besides, they aren't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. ]

Yes, we're very different. I'm sure you've seen how they are. [ Rude, selfish, violent Cairngorm. All their flaws personified, and now finally removed. Isn't this what they always wanted? To finally be their own person? To live a singular existence?

It hurts to be so unsure. ]

[ and now it's already beginning. Lupin looks at them from corner of his eyes. "How they are," as if they're expecting Lupin to say something bad about them. ]

I have. They're so shy that they can seem mean, but they care a lot about people, even if they're afraid to show it. [ he replies without missing a beat, looking over at Ghost with a smile. ] You, on the other hand, seem pretty easy to talk to.

[overlayed]

[ ...No, their sibling is decidedly not shy. A weird stance to take, in their opinion. ] ...I suppose. [ Caring a lot about people, however, isn't something Ghost can disagree with. At least not fully. Cairngorm only cares about one person besides themself, Ghost thinks. ] We certainly care very much about Lapis- enough for them to do incredibly dangerous and risky things... [ They sigh, clearly embarrassed on Cairn's behalf. ] Please don't think too badly of them for it.

[ They don't seem to say much of Lupin's compliment, other than an offhand "I'm here to help". They mean it, but they don't seem to want to make themselves the focus of the conversation. ]

[ apparently, that was a little too subtle. They don't seem outright hateful or dismissive towards Cairngorm, at least, which is what he was afraid of... maybe it's more of a sibling rivalry? He can hope so, even if he doubts it's that simple. ]

I don't at all! We're good friends, actually. They're usually the one yelling at me for doing dangerous things.

Is that so?

[ Their hands move to adjust their tie. Their mind dwells on their last conscious moments, and they suppose there's a sort of half-truth to what Lupin says. ]

How long have you known each other?

Well, we both got here at the same time... So almost six months by now. Not that long, by your standards.

[ not that long by human standards, either, honestly, but it doesn't take long to make friends with somebody, especially if you're Arsène Lupin. ]
