t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [ Fushimi actually leans back in complete confusion. What? What?? Fushimi can't make the slightest sense of how Momo's brain is getting from Point A to Point 3.14. ]

...No. [ No, he does not model, but also, "No" as a general concept for how Fushimi is feeling about this entire, somewhat regrettable meeting -- hm. ]

Ankles aren't indecent here. That's stupid. [ He isn't quite calling Momo stupid, so that's something, probably. It's just the idea of it that's stupid! There we go. ]

[ "Stupid" is just shy of "funny"— which is the mantra Momo subscribes to, in all of his probably misguided and semi-self-imposed optimism. Despite Fushimi's easy rejection of Momo's pleasantries, all Momo does is laugh; he didn't say anything that wasn't true, after all. ]

That's a relief! I didn't accidentally offend you, then. ☆ First impressions are really important, after all!

[ A tip of his head, garnished with a wink. Ugh. ]

[ "Ugh" sure is right, in Fushimi's mind, and his first impression of Momo is pretty solidly a confused Ugh?, question mark and all. He thought he'd met just about every possible personality type, but apparently there were some undiscovered ones that he has even less of an idea on how to deal with. ]

...What kind of first impression are you trying to make?

[ Because he can't even tell. Fushimi Saruhiko has probably never laughed in his entire life. ]

[ Challenge accepted, tbqh.

Which is to say— well. Momo makes a quick note to himself that this person is likely the no-nonsense type, the kind of person with either very little patience for smalltalk or very little frames of reference for them.

That's fine. He figures that a place like this could do that to someone, so he keeps smiling. ]

The kind that'd make you want to talk to me again! [ Shameless. It also happens to be true. ] How 'bout it? Do I pass?

[dualtone]

No. [ It's very quick and matter-of-fact, but there isn't a bite to it -- it has that degree of impersonality to it that indicates that Fushimi isn't rejecting Momo as a human being, just human beings as a concept. ]

I don't like talking to people. [ It's a pain, and he's terrible at it, and people have, like, feelings that Fushimi is extremely ill-equipped to deal with. Once he talked to a girl and made her cry and it was awful.

The fact that Fushimi is talking to Momo right now is not lost on him, of course. ]

[ Oh. This—

—Reminds Momo so much of a time in his past, of '5 years ago' and a silver-haired young man with his arms folded and his sharp gaze fixed on anything but his adoring fans. Momo almost laughs at the association, but he keeps it swallowed; he's pretty sure that Fushimi wouldn't appreciate it.

He tips his head, and hums under his breath. ]

Haha! Then you can just think of me as a backdrop. [ Momo. Pretends to be a tree? Hands held up and out, back ramrod-straight. Why is he like this. ] It's better than nothing in a place like this, right?

i have to arrest momo for being too cute, this is a crime, this is criminal

[dualtone]

... it's fine. [ It isn't fine, probably, because Fushimi is probably acting like a jerk and Momo seems like an airhead and neither of those things is exactly fine, but -- well, it doesn't seem like Momo is holding the fact that Fushimi is a jerk against him, so Fushimi will try to swallow down his urge to critique Momo. Or at least keep it down to a dull roar, you know. ]

There's a lot of people here who like talking. [ People who don't sound as exhausted and vaguely irritated as Fushimi. ] I care more about information.

[ Which... is in short supply, these days, for any of them. ]

[ There are a lot of people here who are nice and friendly and who are willing to commiserate, true. Momo doesn't doubt that (he's already run into people who were far kinder than he'd ever have anticipated), but it's apparent that knowing that doesn't deter him from continuing to occupy this particular space.

Meaning, he doesn't look discouraged at all. He's still all teeth and bright eyes, attentive posture and vague curiosity. ]

Ah, I can get behind information, too! If we're all gonna make it out of here in one piece, we're definitely gonna need to network and keep tabs on who knows what.

[ Surprisingly pragmatic of someone who looks like he couldn't care less. ]

—So! What's your name? [ welcome to hell, fushimi saruhiko ]

[ Fushimi has no idea how people can put up with people who are as energetic and perky as Momo. It feels exhausting just being next to him. Fushimi needs about six more cups of coffee (but that would ruin his careful coffee rationing, which is probably half the reason he feels exceptionally irritated). ]

... Fushimi. [ And then, because Fushimi is at least vaguely aware that normal people volunteer slightly more information than a SINGULAR NAME: ] I live in Ruga, with the guy that runs the defense force... he can fill you in on anything you need to know.
