Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

[ Lottie is infinitely glad that this girl is aware of that. She makes sure to smile, and make it look less strained, just so her efforts feel appreciated. Lottie even (doubly) makes sure not to stare too much at her pinky, and that odd thimble, even if she's insanely curious. ]

Someone has to, right? [ Welcome people? God. Awkward. But at least Elizabeth fawning over Lottie's collection of clothes makes her feel more at ease. This is something she's far more familiar with than all the gray and hopelessness of this town. ]

Thanks. This isn't even everything I have! [ A pause. ] Well, I guess now it is.

[ It's all name brand stuff, something she's starting to think this girl doesn't know about. She moves closer to grab at a pink dress, displaying it up for her. It's long-sleeved, barely covers the important bits length wise, and comes with the deepest v-neck imaginable. It's also? Super soft. The Ultimate Power Move. ] This one is one of my faves. I actually wore this yesterday, with... [ She points at a pair of red boots. ] Those.

[ She's absolutely, 100% correct, because each piece that Elizabeth looks at is with a kind of interest like she's seeing something brand new. She'd seen a little of modern fashion after making a small, inter-dimensional trip to an early 2000s mall, but. That's still nothing nearly as stylish as what Lottie has an assortment of. So when she shows off the short pink dress, Elizabeth is at first a little surprised, since it's definitely far shorter than anything she's used to seeing, but in a way, she likes that. It symbolizes something new and modern, and for someone trying to wholeheartedly run away from her time. ]

I probably don't need to tell you, but make sure to take care of it. Everything here is, well...

[ She holds up her arms to demonstrate her "outfit." She looks more like someone straight out of a renaissance festival than anything... ]

Definitely not as pretty.

[ It's a nice way to put it, for sure, but with a wry smile, she just returns to admiring the selection. ]

If no one has mentioned it to you yet, I'm sorry for the weird question, but when are you from?

[ Lottie lowers the dress a fragment, brows scrunching up as she tries to pinpoint what exactly she feels.. looking at this poor, definitely ye olden times, girl. Her eyes trail the fabric wrapped around her arms, down her torso and all the way to her shoes.

She thinks she feels bad?? That has to be it. She's felt awkward since she tried to hide behind nothing, so it definitely isn't that. Yeah.. she probably feels bad that a pretty girl is suffering the woes of having nothing good to wear. ]
Wow.. That's all that's here? [ It still looks good, kind of? Lottie isn't sure how to express that, or any real condolences for the fashion in this place, so she simply continues with a softer, less incredulous, tone. ] Stuff like that?

[ Her body slouches when she isn't being looked at by the understanding stranger, hovering above her as she decides to put the dress back in the pile. ]

Not really.. No one's even asked about when. [ Only where. It catches her off guard, but she still answers after an odd stare. ] 2018, why?

[ That definitely explains it. It's not the most futuristic time she's heard from people here, but it's definitely up there. It at least makes it very easy to explain why she's asking, considering her own answer. ]

Oh, just because your clothes are a lot more modern than ones I've seen. Where I cam from, it was 1912.

[ She says it so easily and matter-of-fact that Lottie might not really get the full time she needs to process that. Even before Elizabeth came here, the concept of other times, other worlds... It wasn't new. It was something easy and familiar for her, since alternate realities were a concept she could grasp in a surprisingly physical way. So. Without much of a pause, she answers Lottie's first question. ]

Unfortunately, yes. It's not the worst, since it's better than having to actually make it ourselves, but... I don't know. It looks old-fashioned even to me.
