Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. We don't know the deity that reigns over the land. There's little to go by, but I would love to hear one of yours.

I can compose one. After all, the land and the people are what make the deity. If we should uncover more of that…

Then you would have more material?

[ it's been a long time since she's heard a hymn of any sort... ]

Perhaps some other time - can you share with me one you already know? One from your realm.

I suppose there is no harm in it. [ He pulls out his harp and begins strumming a tune that sounds a little like this. ]

[ thanks for bringing back the hot tunes of my childhood. ]

[ she puts the broom down and then leans against the brick walls as he prepares, knowing she must give undivided attention to this. there's a low anticipation brewing until he begins to play, which is when she closes her eyes and lets the song be her sole focus. the harp is her own favored instrument and in good time she finds herself humming to the melody, smiling all the same throughout. ]

[ He smiles by the end of it, feeling a light flutter in his heart at the way she sings along to the tune. It’s doubtful that anyone would find it familiar, but to have someone engage with him like this…it’s nostalgic.

I am glad that it is to your liking. I have composed it myself.

[ she gives him a few claps for his work at the end, thoroughly impressed and pleased. it feels nice to have such a gentleman in a town of mostly headstrong men, his mannerisms remind her very much of home. ]

It was beautiful, Archer. I'm curious now, are you a bard by trade?

I’m more a warrior than a bard, I’m afraid. [ Though granted, he gets that question a lot anyway. ]

[withwisdom]

Warrior. A knight perhaps?

[ he has the mannerisms of one from her experiences, so she wants to be certain. it'd explain this familiar feeling a great deal. ]

[noholdsbard]

Indeed, I am. [ The fact that she’s caught on so quickly is a relief—but a part of him does feel a little concerned. He’s not very good at hiding his real identity, after all. ]

Though at the moment, I serve no king.

[withwisdom]

Quite alright. There is no king in this land as well, so you are a free spirit to wander. So long as you keep to your chivalry, all will be well.

[noholdsbard]

Is that so? [ Well, it’s better not to reveal too much about his personal situation. But a woman who appreciates chivalry is somebody he can definitely get along with. ]

Then, on my honor, I would devote myself to the healing of this land for as long as I am able.
