t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. I thought as much. Have you been informed about the situation we've all found ourselves in?

We’re trapped and this place is garish. Have I missed anything else?

[ the colors that have been restored don’t always seem to be the right ones, from her perspective… and all of the houses are ugly. ]

Well, it's far more complicated than that. For starters... let's see, do you know what a "computer" is?

[regrede]

[ no… she doesn’t like admitting that there are things she’s not aware of, but the longer she pauses, the more obvious it would become anyway. ]

I’ll have you explain it to me now.

[Oh thank gods, finally, someone else whose world doesn't have them! She's a little pleased.]

They're machines used for long-distance communication. With it, you can be miles away and yet be able to send messages to one another in seconds. And on these machines, an anonymous source gives us quests. Completing the quests restores color to the town, and rewards us with items.

In seconds?

[ finally, she seems intrigued. it’s much faster than a letter or a carrier pigeon could be, and that’s exciting. she doesn’t know who she would talk to here, but having the power is nice. ]

I don’t like being told what to do, but the “computer” sounds like a boon.

Indeed, I believe many worlds would be much better off with such technology. But you won't really believe it until you try it for yourself.
