Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

[Sasuke's attention lifts, and he looks back out over what he can see of the town. It's a lot bigger than it seems when climbing out of the well. The forest makes up a huge majority of it, though.]

Not particularly. The well and the board. Some of Ruga and Bluo. The forest on the Ruga side.

[His attention drops back to Percy momentarily. And then he begins to pick his way carefully down the roof toward the lowest portion before it drops off to the ground.]

How high can you jump?

[He hasn't been able to get a bird's eye view of the town, but hearing that makes him wonder just how big the town really is. He walks closer to the church and toward the lowest overhang, studying it for a moment.]

Probably high enough. [He's had enough practice climbing shit that this shouldn't be that hard.] You're not too far from the ground.

[With careful ease, Sasuke follows Percy and matches the position. He squats down to one knee on the edge, and his right arm falls out from between the front of the cloak. It stretches down as far as possible, palm-up, an offering.]

Jump and grab. I'll lift you up.

[...should he trust knock-off Gerard Way? He thinks about it for a second before deciding there's nothing to lose and jumping, taking Sasuke's hand and using his free arm to begin hauling himself up. He has enough climbing skills to manage.]

[Look. Gerard Way is wholesome and wouldn't ever have an unstable, tragic backstory. Right?

Easily, Sasuke's hand catches Percy by the forearm. In the end, Percy doesn't even have to try to help. Sasuke taps into a bit more chakra, and it's easy to haul the boy straight up over the roof while he stands. When most of Percy gets by the roof, he hefts a final time and lets go, allowing Percy to hop onto the roof flat just by landing.

It's hard to say what's more surprising: being pulled up so easily one-handed, or the flare of the cloak revealing Sasuke actually, in fact, only has one arm. Maybe the limp left sleeve before it's hidden again by the cloak explains the strength? Possibly.]

[Well that was easy. He finds that he doesn't have to exert as much effort as usual and he pulls himself up the last bit of the way to land on the roof next to Sasuke. He's about to say "thanks" or something like that, but he's also a little stunned because like. Wow.

...huh.]

Thanks, man. Most people can't lift that much around here. [ESPECIALLY WITH ONE ARM? Wait what in the fuck, does Sasuke actually only have one arm? What is this.] View's not bad though.

[Do he got the one arm? HE DOOOOOOO.]

Be careful where you step. The roof isn't sturdy in some places. [But Sasuke let Percy up anyway? Sasuke helped Percy up, so either Sasuke is world's worst dad (he is), or he trusts there's something more to Percy than what meets the eye.

Or he could just be into letting teenagers figure out their own path instead of coddling them.] What's your name?

Got it. [The hell is happening in Boruto. But nevertheless Percy notes it and leaves it alone and he's steady on his feet while keeping an eye on where he's stepping.]

Percy. [Does he need to give out his last name? Probably not.] You were one of the people who just showed up in the well not that long ago, right?

[It seems a bit rude, but Percy hadn't asked for his name yet, so he doesn't offer it in return. He watches Percy move across the roof just to make sure. He hasn't run into any problems himself, but he's also partially cheating.

Using chakra to run on water and on ceilings, why not use it on rickety building roofs to keep his weight off? Same thing.] I was.

Were you with the first people to arrive here or the second?

[He'll maybe remember to ask later but right now it doesn't seem too important. He's also a little on guard to make sure he's not about to suddenly get pushed off the roof or tricked, but that happens when a majority of adults you know are monsters trying to kill you.]

I was with the second group. It's been a couple of months now but I can't say I'm surprised you guys showed up, too.

A reoccurrence. [It isn't a question. More of like a sigh without a sigh. Sasuke follows after Percy careful, though not in any hurry. His attention is divided out across the town.] Did you come with others from your world?

[A nod, though Sasuke's free to interpret it as "yes it's a reoccurrence" and "yes I came with someone else." Give him time to step across the roof to get a look at the town.]

Yeah, but she disappeared already. [Which is stupid and he's mad but whatever.] But someone else I know turned up this time so maybe that's just a reoccurrence, too. It's been a while since I've seen her but the town probably doesn't care.

[Yeah guess who doesn't know Nico's around at the time of this thread...] I'm gonna guess you're alone...?

[It’s faint, but Sasuke’s face is sympathetic for a moment or two even if Percy misses it. Disappeared. Someone else had talked about those who come and go.

RIP that Nico never explicitly said “Percy Jackson” when talking about Percy, or Sasuke would make the connection.]

I am. [He doesn’t sound bothered by this, but maybe it’s how he usually sounds about everything.] Some say they arrived alone, some say they arrived with others. Some have others come later.

If it isn’t a dimensional anomaly, if it’s the village... then perhaps there is a reason behind the choosing. Try not to be too concerned with how we got here. It happened.

Let’s focus on how to get back.

[It's fine, Percy's literally going to go a whole week before realizing Nico's here because that's just how his life is. Idiot. He misses the expression but it's something he constantly thinks about. There's a noise of acknowledgement though.]

That's all true. I showed up with Annabeth, but a different girl I know showed up this time. Nobody's sure why. You'd think there'd be a reason for choosing, but. [He shakes his head.]

Believe me, I'm working on it. Figuring out a way back or at least finding out where people go from here. That's all I want to know right now.
