t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [ She's glad he's looking the other way - she'd automatically think him to be some weird, sleazy guy if he so much as glanced at the inside of her (newly appointed) livelihood. It's good to see some common decency in people! Specifically men. But it can be extended to people, this time. ]

I'm Lottie. [ Is it rude to not return the sentiment? It's not like she really feels one way or the other about this encounter.. Much less this guy. It'd probably still be nice to hear it from someone, though. Comforting, maybe? ] And same here, Jion.

[ Already pulling out what she needs, she bends down to take off her boots in exchange for some sandals. Her height instantly goes down by a few inches. She picks up her wet shoes to shake them out a little. ]

Where were you before you were stuck in the well?

Where?

[ He automatically looks at Lottie before remembering what he's holding and averting his eyes once more. ]

Vanadzor. In Armenia. Or, well -- the camp I'm stationed at is a bit outside the city, but it's close enough, I guess. [ He frowns thoughtfully. ] Funny thing is though, I don't remember falling asleep. It wasn't late, so I'm pretty sure I was still checking my equipment when I just woke up in that well. Sure was a surprise.

[ He gives a slightly annoyed huff, but ah well. That's all over and done with now. ]

How about you?

[ Lottie's knowledge of any place outside of California? So null and void that she can only comprehend Armenia being only 'far' from where she lives. The mention of being stationed somewhere is odd - kinda explains the scar. She thinks even if she asked him to elaborate, all of that would go over her head, so she lets him speak. ]

Yeah, it was in the middle of the day for me last I remember. I haven't wrapped my head around like, how even getting here was possible. How'd they even get someone like you? [ Someone big, tall, and probably threatening. If anyone were going to get kidnapped, Lottie thinks sticking to people with her stature would be easier, wouldn't it?

Her boots are shoved into her case, the zipper closing it shut before giving a hesitant pat to his arm to let him know he can drop it. ]

Well, I definitely wasn't anywhere near where you were. I was on my way back to LA, so I was still in the States. Me and my friends were leaving a hotel and then.. I'm here.

[ Someone like him? Jion gives a curious tilt of the head at that. Someone like him, as in ... a soldier? Or someone not-totally-human? He's not exactly sure what that has to do with being here, but maybe she knows something that he doesn't?

So he doesn't question it, just gently lowers the suitcase to the ground when Lottie pats his arm and taking up the extended handle.

Weirdly, it's the mention of LA that gets him perking up. ]

LA! You're from California! [ He's never been to Cali before, and that much is obvious from his enthusiastic curiosity even before he keeps talking. ] Man, this has got to be a really big change of scenery then. It's really crowded and busy there, right? Must've been extra shocking ... [ He obvious wants to ask what LA is like, but hesitates just because bringing up the very home she's missing right at this moment seems like a bad idea. ]

[ Contrary to what he may think, Lottie would love to indulge in his curiosity. Mostly because his fawning kind of makes her feel important, and gets her to focus on something else other than the way her feet ache from trotting around in her heels all day. ]

Yup! I have my own apartment and everything, it's really great. [ Lies. She hates LA as much as she likes living there. It's always smelly, there's too much traffic, too dirty, and hard to navigate. But it's not like he... has to know that. Why destroy the image, right? ] It's completely different from a lot of places you'll go to! Especially this one.. Obviously, this one.

[ She takes out her phone from the waistband of her skirt, wiping off the screen before putting in her password. Her screensaver and wallpaper? Both pictures of herself. ]

I got pics, if you want to see?

[ He nods along enthusiastically to everything Lottie says, because it sounds about right. After all, everything he's seen of LA in movies makes it seem like a pretty special place, and it's definitely a far cry from anywhere he's had to live.

So of course he perks up at her offer. ]

Yeah, if you have them!

[ He's clearly the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, eagerly stepping a little closer in hopes of getting a better look. (He notices her screensaver, of course, but says nothing about it just yet.) ]

If you're in LA are you an actor? Or is it bad to actually ask that to people who live there, I know it's kinda just a stereotype.

[ Oh, she definitely has them. It's a shame she can't access her website directly, there's a lot more content on there than her gallery. She swipes through her folders to get to the good stuff - while it isn't labelled where in LA it is, it's a folder with photos set in that location.

She hands the phone over to him. ]

You can swipe through these ones. [ Some include Lottie posing, looking far more put together and perfect than she does now, and some don't. Which makes sense why he asks his question - her ego inflates that much more. ]

It isn't, don't worry.. [ He actually isn't that wrong - a lot of people tend to move to LA for that reason. But hers is.. oddly specific. ] I moved to LA to become a fashion blogger. [ She doesn't think she could really act all that well, anyway. But she is good at standing and looking pretty! ] Now, I have my own line of clothes, following, and I model.

[ He handles her phone carefully -- something tells him Lottie really wouldn't take it well if he dropped it -- and flicks through the photos with open fascination. The shots of her are nice, of course, but he's admittedly more fascinated by the scenery. It's really different from any city he's been in. ]

Fashion blogger?

[ There's a vague note of recognition, but he doesn't really get the magnitude of what 'fashion blogger' means until she lists off her accomplishments in more detail. ]

-- oh! Man, that's really cool! I guess it makes sense though, you look like you really know your clothes, and you're really pretty!

[ It's not flirting or anything. Just an honest observation. ]

[ She definitely wouldn't. In all honestly she would probably go some variation of ballistic if he dropped it, so it's nice to see someone treat her phone as tenderly as she does. Lottie even looks a little smug, livelier than before, at his blatant praise.

It feels nice to be appreciated by the public, even if the public had no idea who you were two minutes ago. Gotta look at the bright side! ]

..Oh, thanks! Gotta stay ahead of the trends, y'know.

[ And she can tell, in an odd way, he means that compliment genuinely. Maybe it's because she doesn't feel uncomfortable or slightly threatened, like the usual response she'd feel from a man.. A good sign? ]
