Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter." | |
Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! |

[His daughter, huh.] I wouldn't have guessed. You look pretty young to be a dad already.
no subject
My wife had her when we were about twenty.
[He doesn't ever answer the first question.]
no subject
What's she like?
[It's fine. No answer to that question is an answer itself.]
no subject
Who, my wife? Or Sarada?
no subject
[Because she's always so curious about people's families...but also because she always feels better when she gets to talk about the people she misses back home.]
no subject
He may be thirty-something, but it's funny to see him visibly struggle like a teenager with this.] My wife's name is Sakura. She has pink hair, and a Hundred Seal on her forehead in the shape of a diamond--if you happen to see her here. She's a medical ninja.
She's very kind and patient. She likes sweet red bean dumplings or pickled plums, but hates anything spicy.
Sarada... [This time, the pause is longer. His face draws into something slightly more pensive, and his lips thin. He actually doesn't know much about Sarada.] I'm...
She's very smart. She's training to become Hokage, the leader of our village. It's a dream of hers.
no subject
They sound like amazing people. [She notices that there's less about Sarada and what there is is less personal than what he could say about his wife. But she wasn't going to comment on that.] Sounds like you're lucky to have them.
no subject
Answering her question, he realizes just how little he knows about his own daughter. It seemed... more something Sakura could handle. What a crappy dad. He'd put work ahead of his family and stayed gone almost ten years. It was to protect them, but what had this done to Sarada?
He hadn't even known what she looked like... When they met, he nearly attacked her.]
I am. You may have been friends. She's a little younger than you.
no subject
Well, I can never have too many cute girls as friends.
[And all girls are cute.
Look, she's trying not to comment because she feels like only children blurt out all the questions they think of but Kaoru has always been bad at keeping out of other people's business and she's seen enough family's with problems (too many) that she can't help but want to do something.
She sits back and yes, it's in mid air so technically it makes no difference in terms of making her more relaxed but she's never liked being still.]
Was everything okay between you two? I mean, teenage girls can be a handful! [She laughs a little.] I should know, right? We don't always make it easy.
no subject
She isn't a bad daughter. [But he pauses like before, in a thoughtfully uncertain way. Something about the visible part of his face softens, eye downcast from Kaoru's gaze. And then he looks up and off, frowning.] Work keeps me busy.
I... haven't been home very much. To protect our village, I need to do some things elsewhere.
[He hopes Kaoru understands what he means without being so detailed. He's a deadbeat dad, too. End him.]
no subject
Maybe someone else might have reassured him it couldn't be helped or that it was worth it. But well.]
When I was little, I stayed at this...I guess it's like a 24/7 daycare? [Sort of? But that part doesn't matter, actually.)] Anyway, one of my best friends didn't see her parents much because they were busy with work and with taking care of her baby brother who was sick a lot. Aoi actually thought they'd sold her.
[Which was funny now but had made Aoi really sad back then.]
After her dad knew how lonely he made her, he came to visit more often and really tried to make up for everything by being a part of her life. Now Aoi complains a lot about how everytime she goes home he's always showing her off to his co-workers and friends but we can tell she's actually really happy about all that.
I'm sure Sarada-chan would be the same. You've probably missed out on a lot of things and you can't ever get that back, but if she's around my age then there's still time, right? Even if you can't spend that much time with your family, I'm sure it'd make them happy to know that you care about them and that you'll try to be there for them as much as you can.
no subject
But it's needed.
His absence wasn't something he hadn't seen, hadn't understood. His absence was something he put on the back burner. Sarada has Sakura, her mother, a fine woman if anything, and that was enough... he thought.]
You're right. [In brief meetings, he's told Sakura as much--as little as it may be for someone like him. Sakura probably understands his actions better than his words by now. Sarada, not so much.] I regret I didn't have the opportunity to say so before ending up here.
Thank you. My name is Sasuke Uchiha, in case you meet someone looking for me.
no subject
[The past can be regrettable, but it was the future that was important.]
I'm Kaoru Akashi! It's nice to meet you, Uchiha-san. So, is it okay for me to give out your name and location to anyone asking? Or is there anyone I should lie to about where you are? Like a stalker or something.
no subject
Hello, Kaoru. [If he had been younger, the story would be different. People were searching for him, friend and foe. He was hunting and hunted. He had enemies.
But now isn't the same; he's powerful, he's more wise and less risky. If someone comes looking for him in the wrong ways, he'll know how to handle them.] No. You can tell whoever is asking.
Do you think I have a stalker?
