Event Ten.

Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter." | |
Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! |

To see the "internet"? [He fingerquotes this with one hand, a gentle self-burn of his total technological ignorance here. It's all good.] That would be helpful, thank you.
no subject
[Well, at least the young man has a sense of humour, even in this strange predicament. He leads him over to the door, surveying the house dubiously.]
Looks like the place could use some work... Are you sure you still want to trade places?
no subject
I don't know if I can condone anyone living in a place like this, now that I'm seeing it up close... Are you going to be alright here?
[He looks like a strong wind could give him a run for his money, that's all.]
no subject
[He heads inside, looking around. Maybe once it was a cosy little cottage, but as it stands now, it's just as shabby inside as outside, a thin layer of dust covering most things except a laptop lying on a table.]
Oh, there it is. Guess that's for me? [He moves over to open it up. While it boots up, a thought occurs to him--] Ah! Sorry, I invited you to my house and didn't even ask your name...
no subject
Oh-- it's Reim! Reim Lunettes. And on the personal computers, I'm apparently going by "CC3300."
[Which, naturally, he has memorized already.]
no subject
[Is that an invitation to be a friend? It might be. Anyway, his laptop loads up and he peers at the screen, scratching his head.]
Looks like I'm "FFFF00"... At least it's easy to remember. [Why they couldn't just make up their own screennames instead of getting weird codes is beyond him, though that would make too much sense for a place like this.]
no subject
I'm told they don't mean anything in particular. [He was... kind of hoping for ciphers... alas.] I suppose it's convenient to have this much provided to us.
no subject
Hmm... I don't know if it's convenient as much as unsettling. It's like whoever dragged us here had everything set up in advance.
[And if a villain is behind all this, one who doesn't show themselves or make their intentions immediately clear is far more dangerous. He doesn't like it.]
no subject
Well... I was hoping to keep my spirits a little higher, but you have a point. I've only learned that the person supposedly in charge can contact us, but can't be contacted in turn.
[Mildly terrifying, but then again, shadowy organizations are starting to feel par for the course after what he's been through at home.]
no subject
[Oops, he's being a downer, isn't he. He sighs.] Well, that's what I think, but I'm sure we'll figure things out.
no subject
Hold on, could you be referring to the "quests"...? I don't disagree with you, but evidently not playing along with those "quests" can end badly for us, regardless of what they are.
[He's been here for a day and already he's infodumping. Well. He wrote it all down.]
Already, it's getting ridiculous...
no subject
[...Although if this is a hostage situation, what is he supposed to do when he's also one of the hostages? Even with all his years of hero experience, this place has thrown him for a loop. It's a frustrating experience, not being able to immediately help people like usual.
Oh, right, he's spacing out when Reim is still here, isn't he? He offers an apologetic look.]
Sorry, I got a little sidetracked. Take a seat, and I'll show you how to use this.
no subject
And he just waits politely until the conversation comes back around... aha. Excellent!!]
Right! I'm in your care.
[It's just a laptop. Endure.]
no subject
[He starts by showing him what everything on the keyboard does, then explains the forum setup, how to click on things to navigate them, and how posts and their responses work, both with how to read them, and how to type and send a reply. It's a little weird seeing everyones' fonts being tied to a set colour, but then, there's nothing normal about this setup in the least.
Once he's done with his (hopefully not confusing) explanation, he passes the laptop to Reim.]
Do you want to try? I don't mind if you want to practice posting things with my username.
no subject
So he takes some notes on the basic functions, and then suddenly there's a laptop being passed to him and he just looks at it for a moment. He presses a key, and then a few more, and then he's typed out "reim" because...]
...I'm not sure what I should write about.
no subject
Ah, well, people use these things in a similar way to talking to others face to face. Only in this case, what you post is public. Some people use it to share news or information, others might just want conversation, maybe serious discussion. Some might want to share their interests with other people...
Why don't you start just by introducing yourself? Keep it simple.
no subject
In that case, shouldn't I use my own...? [He pokes at the keys again, anyway, but all he actually does is hit enter a few times.] Or simply go outside and meet someone.
[You kids and your internet.]
