Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

( an easy lift of his shoulders and yuu drops the topic. for now. guren knows what he's doing, yuu won't question it when it comes to this. not now, at least. )

So don't feed Crowley but don't let him go off and do bad vampire stuff, got it.

[Thanks! Guren is quiet after that, thinking, as always, but when he turns to look at Yuu, it's... softer. He's worried about having him here for a number of reasons, but it's a relief all the same.

After a few moments of silence, he moves closer just enough to ruffle his hair.]

There are a lot of good people here. You'll make good friends.

( wow rude, ruining his hair. a hand raises to try and shove guren's off of his hair, but there's not much intent behind it. guren can mess up his hair all he wants, it's not going to get any messier. and he kind of likes it--having someone who does reach out to him like this.

even if guren's gross. )

You said they're family, right? I'll protect them.

Haha.

[Guren laughs, only ruffling more aggressively in those few seconds before he finally pulls his hand back.]

We'll see about that, brat. [He'll protect them, he knows. They'll protect him too, in their own ways.] But you're right. They're family.

( guren's hand lifts and yuu takes a moment to fuss with his hair, flattening down strands and fixing the top back into place. doesn't solve the whole duckbutt problem, but. he can't see that, so who cares? )

And when we get out of here, we'll get out of here together.

Yeah. Together.

[He blinks across the room at his bookshelf, again, eyeing the embroidery before he turns around and steps back towards the door.]

There's someone who we're going to bring along, too. His world dealt with a real apocalypse. He doesn't have anyone there like we do, so I told him I'd find a way for him to fit in with us.

( guren is done in his room so yuu is also, easily following after him through the doorframe while keeping approximately two steps back. )

Who's he?

Dextera.

[He glances over his shoulder at him as he leads him down the hallway and then down the stairs.]

Black hair, a long coat, blue eyes... He can't talk, so he uses sign language.

Okay. I'll keep an eye out for him.

( not that he'll have any idea of what dextera is saying but he'll do his best. as yuu generally does. )

Is there a reason we're bringing him home, or? Not that it matters.

...Because he's family.

[Guren just got finished saying a lot of people here are family, but the way he says this is a little different. He's not looking at Yuu anymore, just leading them into the kitchen, but for Guren, the less he says, the more it means.]

( there are a lot of things yuu doesn't understand--but this isn't one of them. the pause, the way guren looks away, keeps moving.

this is someone extremely important. not just some random scrub he wants yuu to be careful of so he calls them 'family'. )

I get it. ( he says easy, speeds up his own gait to ram right into guren's side. ) I'll protect him, too.

[There's the world's smallest smile, if Yuu catches it quick enough, when he bumps him like that. He pushes right back, a little harder than Yuu. By now, though, they're in the kitchen, and his steps slow to a stop, anyway. He leans back against the counter, grabbing a few strawberries from a basket on the counter to hold in his hand. He was just hungry, okay. He never stops to have real meals.]

So, is there anything confusing you that no one has gone over yet?

Killer forest, no colors for some reason, something about the water. .

( look he was listening even if he wasn't listening well. small steps, right? guren leans against the counter and yuu follows after, reaching for a few of the strawberries himself to shove a few into his mouth.

[Guren holds out his own last strawberry for Yuu to take, but it's one of those things where he'll yank it away slightly before handing it over, if Yuu goes for it.]

You can use the bed. I don't always end up back here, anyway, when I'm working or doing other things.

( yes thank you for the delicious strawberry--or it would be thanks, except guren's fucking rude and pulls it away as soon as yuu almost grabs hold of it. awful. his brows knit tight together, but whatever. there are some on the table, so he takes a handful of those instead. )

What do you do around here?

I lead the defense force, I've been trying to make some drugs that are helpful to everyone, I look for ways out of here, things like that.

[Too much is what he does. Sleeping isn't one of those things, and eating barely is too? Honestly, he probably won't come home tonight and that will be the first sign of how he's pushing himself.]

Quests, too.

( god damnit, guren. it's fine, yuu will get after him for being irresponsible eventually. not that he can talk either, but. )

I'll help with the defense force. And quest whatevers. And you can test out stuff on me!

[Stares at him... Why is he so quick to volunteer for that. He's a great way to test things, yes, but hasn't he been through enough... Guren will have to consider it. Unlike everyone else here, he can't deny that Yuu is the most hardy.]

Yeah. [He's tired, and he drops the strawberry he teased Yuu with back in Yuu's hand, take it.]

Just make sure you take care of yourself here. I need you alive.

( because guren needs someone who is willing to help with the hard stuff, and yuu's here. and he's willing. he trusts guren enough, and if anything does go wrong? it's fine, his body fixes itself anyway. being a test subject is fine as long as the end gets him where yuu wants to be: with his family, mika human again, and without all that. . nonsensey stuff.

the strawberry gets held within a palm, and he takes a moment to give guren a dirty look for handing it over after hogging it before shoving it right into his mouth and talking before he finishes chewing: )

I doubt this place could kill me even if it really, really tried to.

Let's not try to find out.

[Again, he reaches over to place his palm on the top of Yuu's head, but it's barely a ruffle at all for how quick it is. He doesn't want to overdo it too much, even if he did miss the kid.

He uses that as a chance to step away from the counter, though.]

So, what are you going to do now? Take a look around? Meet more people?

I'll probably wander around a little.

( there's not even an attempt to duck out of the way this time, busy distracted with his strawberry leaves. guren can have his hair. that's fine. he's picking apart these greens leaf by leaf by leaf. . fun stuff. )

See what kind of stuff I can find. This place isn't that big.

It's not. Sorry you wound up here.

[It's a pain in the ass. It's so frustrating— everything about this is something he should be able to think a way out of, but it's been six months and nothing. That goes against who he is, what he needs, everything.

Then again, Yuu apparently being from the future is a comfort.]

Just don't go into the forest alone.

Nah, it's fine. I mean, you're here, and I definitely couldn't leave you alone.

( it's said happily enough, lips spread into a grin wide enough to show the bits of strawberry left in his teeth. whatever, he's happy enough. and definitely leaving the mess of leaves on the ground when moving to walk away from guren and out of his house. )

I'll go with a friend!

[That's fine and all, but HOLD ON—]

Hey, stupid Yuu. Where do you think you're going without cleaning up that mess?

Out?

( that sounded like a warning shot so he's going to wait approximately two seconds and then start running towards the door, later nerd. )
