Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

...No, I'm pretty sure they can't. I would definitely know if they could.

[For whatever reason, the answer is given with humor in her voice. It's not immediately clear what she finds funny, especially since she's moving on quickly.

She's still surprised, but the initial shock has faded enough that she can slip easily enough into her usual mode: banter.]

You know, somehow, you sound exactly how I'd imagine a cat would.

[You know, full of judgment.]

[Now both eyes are open, because welcome, Natalie, to Mogget's One-Stop Banter Shop. It's open 24/7.]

Really? What a coincidence. You sound exactly how I'd imagined a young human would: like a silly little know-it-all.

[Harsh! But there isn't anything hateful about his tone; it is, in fact, surprisingly mild. He's just bored... and curious as to what her reaction will be. Some humans explode! Other humans sulk! Only the most interesting humans bite back, which is why he watches her face very, very carefully.]

[Her lips quirk upwards into a half smile, but it's hard to tell whether it's amusement about his absurd this situation is, or if she just genuinely enjoys joking around like this.]

Oh, no, the talking cat thinks I'm silly. How will I ever go on with this blow to my pride?

What humans normally do, I suppose. Whine? Cry? [He stretches his paws out in front of him, rolling his shoulders in a sort of shrug.] Or if I'm exceptionally unlucky, perhaps you will do both.

[A small noise of amusement escapes her mouth as she gives a shrug of her own, tilting her head slightly.]

In the absence of any kleenex, I reserve the right to wipe all my tears away on your fur.

[Mogget doesn't know what the fuck a kleenex is, but this human clearly isn't afraid of him. It's... slightly annoying, because his ego is hyuge, yet he can't help but to approve of her attitude. Hmm!]

And I reserve the right to scratch your nose. What is your name, girl?

That's one of the least annoying places you could go for. I mean, it'd hurt, but it wouldn't be that inconvenient.

[Just casually giving advice on the most effective cat attacks, as one does. She doesn't seem to have any qualms about moving on quickly from that topic.]

Natalie. Please tell me you have a really embarrassing and cutesy name, that would make being here almost worth it.

[He chuckles dryly, because doesn't the inconvenience of a scratch depend on how deeply he decides to carve? But hey, he's new here! He's on (relatively) good behavior for the time being, so...]

Perhaps it is? Perhaps it isn't. You will have ample time to ponder the many possibilities, Natalie.

[Because as he finally sits up, he pointedly does not give her his name. And he looks rather smug about it, too. Cats!]

That aside, you are lucky indeed if a silly name is all that is necessary for you to almost enjoy your stay here. You have seen the state of your new surroundings, yes?

Oh, come on. That's totally unfair, you have to tell me your name.

[He doesn't, and she knows it, but she's hoping that her completely affronted tone will somehow convince him nonetheless. As he continues on, she gives a small shrug, and her first response is, of course, sarcastic.]

No, I'm completely unable to see anything at all at any point, so I hadn't noticed yet. [There's barely a beat, before:] Yes, I've seen the state of my surroundings.
