Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

[ She tries to watch as inconspicuously as possible while trying to find another towel for herself. Her own is much smaller when she gets her hands on it, one of her many designated for her face - it will now be used to try and dry her boots off. ]

..I don't know? [ She hasn't really given it much thought, and it shows through the tone of voice she uses to respond with. ] I had it with me before I got here, 'cause I was leaving my hotel. Did nothing come along with you?
fivefingerdeathpunch: maybe listening, maybe staring into the distance (what if I dyed my hair purple?)

[Jotaro pauses in drying one foot to check his pockets, fishing out his wallet, a fresh pack of cigarettes, and his lighter. There's also a folded piece of paper he doesn't recognize, and his notebook and pen are gone, but he remembers forgetting those at home when he headed out this morning, so he's pretty sure it didn't get stolen by who or whatever brought them here.]

I didn't have anything else on me, so that must be it. [And then, at last, he notices the second, smaller towel.] ...How many of these did you pack?

[ Lottie pushes herself off the ground the slightest bit to get a better look at his things. The wallet seems most important - at least if they got kidnapped no one could steal their credit card information. The cigarettes? Not so much. ]

Oh! Wait a sec. [ Rummaging through her suitcase pockets produces a similar looking piece of paper. It's a little crumpled and torn from her attempt at reading it earlier, something she tries to hide by strategically placing her hands across the tears. ] Did you read that thing yet?

And to answer your question, three. You can't expect me to use one towel for everything!
fivefingerdeathpunch: Jotaro paying attention (tell me your Columbo fan theories)

[Some people might consider such an answer ridiculous, excessive, a waste of luggage space. Jotaro just makes a noise of understanding--he's usually fine with hotel towels because he stays in the ones where everything's fancy, but he can see where someone might feel better bringing their own.

He unfolds his mystery paper and skims the contents, a brief letter containing no real information except that he's supposed to be staying at an address he doesn't recognize.]
It sounds like we're expected to be here a while. You ever heard of this "Bluo" place?

[ She appreciates his lack of response for her answer - as much of a necessity as it is, there's always those naysayers out there that just don't understand! Lottie perks a little. Maybe helping this guy wasn't such a bad idea after all? ]

No, never! Mine said "Flavo". They have to be next to each other or something.

[ She even unfolds hers for him to see, raising it up to reading level for him. While she doesn't like the idea of ''''living'''' anywhere after being kidnapped, a freak out right now is. Totally not appropriate. She opts for a far friendlier response instead. ]

After you're done, did you want to try looking for them?
fivefingerdeathpunch: looking up at something (for me to change the shape I'm in)

[personal profile] fivefingerdeathpunch 2018-09-15 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure.

[There's nothing about her that screams "vast mystical powers", and this place is weird enough so far that he'd feel a little bad sending a defenseless woman off to explore on her own. He makes a note of her address and starts putting his own things back in his pockets, glancing around as he does so and spotting, not too far away, the community board and its map of town.]

That might help.

Thanks. [ Lottie shoves the note back into her bag, zipping up the pocket before turning her head over to the community board and map. The raggedy, kind of worn, community board. Huh.. Convenient. Her eyes squint at the discovery, naturally suspicious.

But that doesn't stop her from leaving her things where they are (it's not that far away, anyway) to check out the writing on the board. ]

"Need a couple of volunteers to help run a small farm"?

[ She completely misses that map in favor of being openly appalled at the idea of manual labor. ]
fivefingerdeathpunch: Jotaro rubbing the back of his neck on the side with his birthmark (I really have no idea)

[And this is the part where budding friendships are torched, because Jotaro knows the polite, sociable things to do here would be to either stay put and watch Lottie's bag or go and look at the board with her, but. But! He also realizes he's been feeling with perfect certainty the presence of one of his family members--his mom, probably, since she was the one nearby right before he found himself in an enormous well, but conceivably also his grandfather since freaky phenomena are more his thing--and there is nothing more important to him than making sure they're okay.

Which is all to say that as soon as Lottie is distracted by the posted messages, Jotaro sets her towel on her bag without a word, sneaks off to disappear as best he can in the little crowd that's developing as more people make it out of the well, and then starts making for Flavo.

Sorry, green-haired lady. He'll at least feel guilty about it later...]
