Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

I see. [ Pleased nod! Knowledge: obtained. Who would've thought that such technology existed.. ]

Does an instrument do anything more useful than just signal how to act? I've only seen them in battle before now, but they were the kind that must have told when to attack.. I didn't realize each one called for a different command, though.

Oh, indeed! [ Phos, is this really a can of worms you want to open— ]

Music can be used for a variety of things—to uphold morale and to darken the mood… All that limits the player is his skill. [ A pause. ] And perhaps the listener’s hearing.

You must be very skilled. [ The beauty of these worms is in the eye of the beholder. ]

Is it something that can be taught? Could I ask you to teach me the basics at some point? Just for fun, of course.

I should be glad to. [ Not like he has anything better to do, though the compliment does make him smile a little more. ]

But we will need to find you your own instrument first. [ If he’d had a normal harp, he’d just lend it to them, buuuuut… ]

Ah- really? Thank you..

[ They'll return the smile, giving an understanding nod. Special instrument = hands off. ]

I'll keep an eye out for something we can use. I'm Phosphophyllite, by the way.

Haha, that is quite the mouthful. [ He’s also racking his brains to see if someone famous might be named that…no such luck, though. ]

I am merely called Archer. It is very much a pleasure.

It is, right? [ they give a forced haha, I have totally never heard that one before kind of laugh, but their smile barely falters. ]

You can call me Phos, if it's easier. Nice to meet you, Archer.. And thank you again for sharing your "mourning music" with me.

[ Poor guy. No one’s gonna be able to sing of the valor of the great Phosphophyllite anytime soon. ]

Oh, you have no need to thank me. Music must be shared, for good or ill. Ah, for any songs to go unheard of, even by the ghosts of things long past…it would be very sad indeed.
