Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

[What makes it even worse is that Mogget doesn't need to eat? He just really, really likes to eat.]

More of a title than a name.

[Just, you know, a casual observation. But after pausing to watch a (much too skinny) bird hop from branch to branch, he glances back up at his companion.]

Well, Archer? Do you sense what you are searching for?

[ Wow Mogget, you really are a little shit…! ]

It appears not. [ He doesn’t seem offended by that snide way Mogget’s referring to him.

Because, well…he’s not wrong. ]

Perhaps we will have better luck somewhere with a greater magical or spiritual significance.

[Oh, buddy. Mogget gives him the flattest possible look, because he's just along for the ride. Don't make him think, or expect him to seriously look!!]

Like a church, perhaps?

[He's already changing course, so it better be!]

[ Truly no other creature has perfected the bitch please look quite like a cat. ]

Oh yes! That would be a fine start indeed. [ He’s following suit, not at all minding the absurdity of trailing after the guidance of a small animal. ]

Perhaps on the way over, you might also give me some way of addressing you. [ He’s not asking for his real name, of course, if he doesn’t feel like giving it out… ]

[Toward Flavo they go, then! It didn't take him long at all to memorize that rough map tacked to the board, so he confidently leads them through various twists and turns.]

My name? [He hums thoughtfully, almost like this is a Very Serious Matter. Spoiler alert: it's not! He just likes the drama.] I've a great deal of them, but you may call me Mogget. A pleasure.

[And that last bit as said as sarcastically as he can, because it's him.]

Mogget… [ He repeats that in a low voice, as if he’s totally in awe with the fact that Mogget has many names…! It’s almost as if… ]

It is indeed a pleasure. Those who carry many names tend to be beings of great power…if they are not villains full of mischief.

[ And he honestly doesn’t know which category Mogget falls into, but considering the magic he’d seen he’s more inclined to believe the former. Lucky you, Mogget!!!! ]

[Mogget chuckles—yes, chuckles—as he steers them toward the church looming in the distance, because the truth... is rarely clear-cut. Even he can admit this.]

Which am I? I suppose you shall have to wait and see.

[He bounds a few steps ahead, looking around at the church's surroundings. He's not sensing anything magical about this place? It's just another run-down building, but like he's going to actually say that. If Tristan knows something he doesn't....]

For now, I suggest you focus your attention on finding this leyline of yours.

[ Honestly making him laugh feels like huge progress already. Tristan doesn’t crack a lot of jokes to begin with. Or non-jokes that sound like them, at any rate.

But he obediently steps inside the church to look around, but if there is anything magical here to be sensed, he’s not finding it either. And yet…

And yet… ]

I cannot sense anything at all. But…I do think this might be worth returning to in the future.

[When you're kind-of-sort-of-but-not-really a god, you have no time for mystical bullshit. A church? Lame.]

It is rather quiet, is it not? A good place for a nap. [He even hops up onto a dusty pew, testing its comfort with a paw before looking back at Tristan.] Or would you come here for other reasons?

Does the deity of this church not interest you? [ He gets the feeling that Mogget doesn’t, really, what with how casually he seeks to nap in here.

Granted, he doesn’t think whoever’s running the joint minds if a cat’s doing it. And there’s no one here to give tedious sermons, anyway. ]

If nothing else, I am very curious as to see what manner of being the former residents of this town had worshiped.
