Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

[ zelda at the moment is by the board, setting up her posting, making sure it sticks right and doesn't fall off. she hears someone walking near but pays them no mind... that is until she feels a distinct feeling off water gliding past her boots. ]

Hm? [ she turns away from the board and there is kohaku right beside, drenched. ] Oh no. You poor girl, did you just come out of the well?

[ Kohaku jumps a bit as she's spoken to, looking over to the other girl. She wasn't expecting to be spoken to by ... well, anyone. Unless it was someone she knew, or unless she spoke first. She smiles a little at Zelda in response. ]

Is it that obvious?

[ Spoilers: It is. ]

[ it really is. ]

Please, come with me. I can give you a towel, and we can figure out where you're staying.

[ It's not like she's trying very hard to hide it, at least. With no knowledge of this place and no idea what to do now that she'd solved the well problem, all she can really do is nod in response to the other woman. ]

Okay. Thank you.

[ There are so many questions. She doesn't want to bombard this nice lady with too many of them at once, though, so she's trying to think of what the most important ones are. ]

... Where are we?

[ Other than a location with a well. ]

Chroma. Or that's what we call the town.

[ it's not a 100% agreed upon used name, but she rather likes it. she'll lead the way to her home in bluo, figuring she can help answer any questions she has along the way. ]

It's a town far away from your home. All our homes really. You shouldn't expect to leave anytime soon.

[ Chroma. It is a very nice name, she agrees. Kohaku begins to follow her new companion. ]

It is? How do you know?

[ There's that rising panic welling up inside of her at the possibility. Things were not good back home ... ]

[ she turns her head back to kohaku and smiles sadly, pointing to her ears. ]

Do you see these? Your ears must be round like most other people here, but this is my natural shape. It's because I'm a Hylian - a race of people I'm certain you've never heard of before.
spiria: (⌠ depressed ⌡)

[personal profile] spiria 2018-09-10 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
... Oh.

[ She was right, people back home didn't really have ears shaped like that. Hylian was also a race she had never heard of. ]

You're right about that.

[ She wasn't even going to bother asking how she knew that they couldn't go home. If this girl had been here for a while and hadn't found a way back, then there was no known way. If she had had any doubts, all it would have taken was one look at the way she smiled to know that she wasn't lying. ]

Is there at least any way to know how people back home are doing, even if we can't go there ourselves?

[ She'd be placated if she could at least know that everyone was okay. She could also try to soma link later, but if they were really that far away from home, would it even work? ]

I'm afraid not. [ it would be more bearable to be here for a lot of people if that could be the case. ] I've attempted to pray and hope my message has reached the ears of those back in my home... I have no way of knowing if it has though.

[ it may seem unreliable to many, but she must believe that they can hear her. sometimes faith is all there is. ]

It could be possible someone you know will come through the well. But one can never predict.
spiria: (⌠ unsure ⌡)

[personal profile] spiria 2018-09-12 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ That was a thought, at least. It might make her feel better to try. ]

I'd like to think that it will reach them.

[ She perks up a little at that. It would be nice if she could see someone from her world again, but given the state of things back home it might have been better if they were only down by one. ]

An excellent choice.

[ it speaks to this girl's optimism. anyone here, especially for the longterm, needs to keep a head held high if they plan to make it through the tougher times. ]

If you ever want to pray with me, to send your energy, let me know. ...My name is Zelda, by the by.

It's nice to meet you, Zelda. I'm Kohaku.

[ She smiles at the girl. The circumstances were ... Not great, but at least she made a friend. That was pretty important. ]

I might take you up on that sometime. I guess if I'm going to be here for a while, though ... um.

[ ... Where does she even start? She knows she needs to get some form of settled, but where to even begin with that? Her mind suddenly drew a blank when she went to think about that. ]
