t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [Okuni has a piece of paper in her hand with every intention of tacking it on that board, but then she looks down and sees Mogget talking to her -- and immediately forgets what she was doing.]

Are you some kind of demon cat? [YOU'RE TALKING, MOGGET!!! Anyway, she crouches down to get a better look at him.] Or did the town turn you into one for failing a quest?

[A cat's personal bubble is sacred, Okuni, but Mogget doesn't move away; instead, he stares right back at her, tucking away that interesting information for later pondering. Quests and town-inflicted punishments? Hmm. His kind of town... as long as he's not the one being punished...]

Turning into a cat was the reward; turning into a dog was the punishment.

[He yawns, showing off those nice, extra pointy white teeth, because waking up in the well sucked? It's about time he had a bit of fun.]

Or perhaps I am a demon? A being sent here to haunt a rude, nosy girl, but a freshly caught fish may convince me to go back from whence I came...

Okuni has a bit of experience taking care of or corralling cats, but her brother's really the cat charmer of the family. Still, would cat charisma work on a not-actually-a-cat...]

Hehe, really! [She looks excited at that proclamation, MOGGET...] I can't say I haven't done anything to deserve getting haunted. How exciting!

[She wants to pick him up!! She fortunately doesn't, because what if demon cat actually murders her right here and now.]

I can get you a fish if you promise to stay here and tell me more. How about it?

[This demon cat wants to chomp on her hand, because this isn't something she's supposed to enjoy! Damn! But she seems willing enough to catch a fish, which is why he glances over to the side, tail swishing against the ground as he pretends to mull that offer over.]

Two fish, [he counters, looking back her way,] and an extra fish for every annoying question you ask. Otherwise I shall keep all my secrets to myself.

[THIS DEMON CAT DRIVES A HARD BARGAIN… but Okuni is pleased, because delayed gratification is even better than getting all your questions immediately answered! She’s just so thrilled to meet supposed demon cat Mogget today. ]

I hope you can eat a lot of fish then. Let me just put this on the board first.

[SHE’LL CATCH SO MANY FISH FOR MOGGET, some of them may be weirdly mutated but still. She straightens up, then tacks the paper she was holding on the board. It’s a picture of the money goose. Okuyasu’s improved money goose.]

Okay, I'm done! [she'll lead the way to the river unless Mogget has Questions about Okuyasu's greatest creation.]

[...Girl, what the fuck is that? Mogget takes a second to study that picture... and if cats had eyebrows, one of his would definitely be shooting up right now.

But as soon as she walks away, he follows right on her heels. Lead the way to some FOOD! He's not eaten in hours.]

We shall see how many you actually manage to catch. [He's the practical sort. But even though he feels like this is probably going to take him down a very stupid road, he can't resist asking:] Tell me, did you draw that... curious picture? Of a diseased bird, I believe.

[It was hard to tell what he was looking at, honestly.]

[Honestly, Mogget made the closest and most accurate guess?? Trust a demon to recognize a picture of a demon bird...]

No way! I can draw much better than that. [Except MS Paint foils her at every turn, so in the end she probably can’t make a picture as good as Okuyasu’s.] Okucchi’s the one who drew that one, and the one who came up with the money goose curse! I just put it up there to remind everyone that the curse exists.

[That and to scare small children with it, probably. Okuni picks her way through the thicker foliage near the river until she reaches the shore. Is it really water?? It’s all pale and dark and lifeless… but there are probably shapes underneath that look like strangely shaped fish.]
