Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [Mogget keeps his eye open for another few seconds, studying the boy before him, before... closing it once again. A human with some sense! Finally. He'll even allow his paw to sink back down to the ground, although the jury's still out on the petting.]

That isn't something I often hear, but... well, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose.

[Whose taste? He isn't about to explain! Nor is he about to offer his name, because Akira didn't ask. Instead—]

Do you fish, Akira Kurusu?

[theshowsover]

[He's wondering if that was a dig against his name. But he doesn't question it.]

Sometimes.

[Every now and then he went out to a fishing hole and fished for a bit with Morgana. He wonders if this cat would like sushi as much as Morgana does.]

Do you want some fish?

[purrsuasively]

[Now both eyes open, because that is possibly the best question he's been asked all damn day. Does he want some fish? Hell yes he wants some fish, but he knows better than to assume the best from a human. Two thousand years of living with them has taught him that there is always—always—a catch.]

Perhaps. It depends on the price.

[theshowsover]

...Price?

[Well, money isn't really a thing here, and Akira didn't intend to ask a total newcomer for anything of value.

So that leaves...]

Why don't you just tell me about yourself?

[purrsuasively]

[There's a moment of silence before Mogget just... sighs. Very dramatically, of course, because that's how he be.]

A very steep price indeed.

[But he stands, finally through with the I'm-too-sleepy-to-care act.]

Will my name suffice? Perhaps I will even answer a question or two, if they are politely worded.

[theshowsover]

[At least he doesn't seem entirely against the idea! Though he's never known a cat quite this reluctant to not tell him about themselves... okay, he's only known one other talking cat, but that cat talked his ear off!]

Deal. We can go down to the harbor.

[purrsuasively]

[Morgana is the most dog-like cat of all time! The proper thing for cats to do is to be as cryptic as possible, which Mogget absolutely adores. Case in point:]

I am called Mogget. Most of the time, anyway. [One vague answer that makes you think of another question! Doesn't he look pleased with himself.] Now, do lead the way. It's been quite some time since I've last eaten.

[theshowsover]

[He will nod, and then pause. Does Mogget intend to walk? Would he be happier if Akira carried him...?

He doesn't have a bag to put him in.]

Do you want me to carry you?

[purrsuasively]

[Mogget's pride is telling him no, but his paws... his poor, poor paws are telling him yes...]

If you are offering, [he says rather stiffly.] then I suppose it shall speed things up a bit.

[But before Akira can, like, bend down to pick him up, Mogget ducks behind him and leaps right onto a shoulder. He doesn't even need to use his claws! He's used to this type of thing, honestly, which is why he promptly settles across the back of Akira's neck like a furry scarf.]

The view is no better from this height, I see. Most unfortunate.

[theshowsover]

[Wow, that was nimble! Akira is impressed that he did that without clawing up his shirt.]

I think I still have one growth spurt left in me.

[So saying, he will start walking toward their destination! He's pretty sure he can grab an old fishing pole once they get down there, and something to use as bait. Easy.

Less easy: getting a fish that has color. He'll worry about that when the time comes.]

[purrsuasively]

[His eight foot vertical leap is sick, right? But Akira isn't exactly short, which is why, as Mogget makes himself more comfortable, he can't keep himself from quipping:]

Grow much taller and you shall hit your head against every doorframe in this town.

[These doors all look tiny? He's just sayin'. But as soon as he's perfectly comfortable, he turns his attention to the many buildings they're passing. He's seen worse, yes, but he's also seen a lot better. He's used to a lot better.]

Tell me this town has many kinds of fish, for everything else seems to be... sorely lacking.

[He can learn to duck!

Ah, but on the subject of fish. Akira gives a light shrug, nowhere near hard enough to throw Mogget off.]

I think there are a lot. But we have to catch one that has color or it won't taste any good.

[He has experience with this, unfortunately.]
