Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [ Man, now he feels real bad. Jion looks a little guilty, rubbing at the scar on his face. ]

Well ... I guess you're just people-watching, then? Since there's a lot of people here.

[ A pause before he offers her the nicest smile he can manage. ]

I'm Jion, by the way. You got a name?

[stripedown]

...

[ Carefully, her lips move, forming syllables. "Ki" and "Sa."

No actual words emerge. ]

[ Oh. Can she not talk? Jion gives a slightly surprised blink, but shows no other signs of balking. ]

Li ... sa? Lisa? Or was that first syllable a 'ki'? Kisa? Couldn't have been a 'pi.' Surely your name's not pizza ...

[stripedown]

[ Her name is definitely not pizza.

But the second one gets a nod. ]

Kisa, then! Nice to meet you, Kisa!

[ Despite the awful first impression, Jion does seem sincerely eager to make friends -- he offers a hand forward to shake, though not too quickly, just in case that might also startle her. ]

[stripedown]

[ ... Well, there's no sense in trying to bolt now. Handshakes are unfamiliar, but slowly, she reaches out to clasp his hand.

That's... what he wants, right? ]

[ Gosh, she's so cute. Jion is usually the type to shake hands enthusiastically, but he grips her little hand gently and only gives it a playful little shake before letting go. ]

By the way, I really am sorry about scaring you so bad, okay? I'll make it up to you as soon as I can.

[stripedown]

[ Kisa hesitates, then reaches out once more-- if just to pat his hand.

It's okay. ]

Aw, are you saying it's okay? Thanks! I'm really glad you're not too mad.

[ Giving her a cheery grin because man, what a great kid! He's pretty sure he wouldn't have forgiven anyone so quickly at her age. ]

By the way, have you been here long?

[stripedown]

[ A quick shake of the head.

Yeah, no, she's the newest of the new. ]

Oh okay, me neither.

[ He plops himself down cross-legged on the ground near Kisa. Might as well relax a bit! ]

So you must've just been in that well, right? Geez, that sure was nuts ... I'm glad you got outta there safe, it was pretty nasty in there.

[stripedown]

[ It was definitely not very high on her list of fun experiences. Cold and wet and dirty... a definite pass.

She tilts her head at him, though, a little curious. He was okay getting out? ]

Hmm? Oh, me?

[ He admittedly has to take some guesses at what Kisa means, but he also figures she'll probably be forgiving even if he gets a few things wrong. ]

Yeah, I didn't like it much in there either. Just all stuffy and dark and wet ... It was gross, right? So I got pretty lucky another guy helped me out pretty soon. People here are pretty nice, aren't they?

[stripedown]

[ She can't deny that, nodding-- almost a little wonderingly. This place is full of strangers who have no right to be nice to her when her classmates and the own Family head had been anything but.

And yet... ]

[organfarm]

[ She looks like she's thinking about something. Jion gives a curious tilt of the head, trying to figure it out. ]

Do you think it's weird? [ Because he can sort of understand that. Jion grunts as he stretches his legs out a bit, propping himself back on his hands. ] I guess it kinda is ... but I don't think they have ulterior motives or anything! I think people just know they have to cooperate to survive in a weird place like this. So everyone's nice!

[stripedown]

[ Is that how it works? She's admittedly never been in a situation like that where her survival depended on cooperating with strangers, but...

She tilts her head. She's definitely mulling this over. ]

[organfarm]

[ Did he say something weird? Maybe it's weird talking about survival to a kid. Jion hesitates, then tries to (clumsily) backtrack. ]

I mean -- I'm sure a lot of them are just nice because they're nice people, too! Not for, uh, survival. Just ... you know. It feels good to be good to other people and see them be happy, so it's best to be nice to people most of the time. Right?
