Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! | |
t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

rather than approach directly, zelda pulls out her sheikah slate when she feels she's a good distance (and hopefully unseen but unlikely) and snaps a photograph of the beast. however the slate does make a pronounced click when that happens, something zelda only remembers after the fact.

[ caught. she quickly gets the slate holstered away in her belt, and comes out of her hiding spot into full view. there's the crease of a bashful smile on her lips, hoping she didn't offend the -- woman. the bat is actually a woman. ]

[ it’s not that sierra can’t defend herself—she can. even if she’s a bat, she’s got access to her magic, it’s just a little hard to channel it through such a small body.
what’s more concerning is that people would just attack her for no reason. ]

[ no one means bad by it, in other words. they just want to protect the people they care for, and the town they live in. though she trusts the fighters she does know, she doesn't know everyone. especially right now. ]

[ her tone is, surprisingly, not intended to be combative. it’s just that she’s fresh out of a war that was nearly exactly the result of a failure to understand what looks like defense to one person may seem like malice to another. oh well! she moves on—clearly, she doesn’t want to talk about it.

Four months. Some others have been here for six. We've come to expect newcomers out of the well every two months. [ now that there's a good sample size, she feels confidant in making observation into fact. ] Have you been doing well in regards to settling yourself in?

[ said in a tone that suggests she’s going to take up that mantle if someone doesn’t stop her—lazy as she can be, she’s got a good head on her shoulders for leading a village. ]

We have no leader. We run the community as a collective, so that no one person is above others. When something pressing must be decided, we can take a vote on it.
[ pointed and honest, though she still keeps even-toned. ]

I don’t think it’s a bad way to live, but what happens when people passionately disagree? With no mediator and no authority, suddenly you have a minor civil war on your hands.

I doubt it would come to that. A revolt would be rather pointless when we're the only populated village known of. [ or so she believes. really, it would just be for the sake of ego... which isn't impossible, but- ] There's no kingdoms, or higher authority in this land to speak of.
We govern ourselves. Those with such passions must learn to temper it for the collective good.

[ but it’s a rhetorical question. sierra already knows what would happen, because she’s seen it. the castle in north window is an example of a community like this done right, with everyone working under a common leader.
common in many ways. riou is a humble boy, but stronger than anyone realizes. they need someone like that here. ]

Your concerns are valid, Sierra, and understandable. It may be naive, but I want to believe in the best of people in dire straits. You're new here, so you haven't had a chance to know how people are here. All I ask is you keep an open mind to us.

And if anyone does get out of line in a way that cannot be forgiven... well. There are a lot of people here with a sword ready to 'defend', so to speak.

[ but she’s smiling as she says it, so it’s probably not as much of an insult as the words alone would seem. sierra isn’t a bad person, nor does she think of herself as one. she’s just blunt. ]
If it turns out you’re wrong, I hope you’ll vote me into leadership with your precious democratic system.

[ zelda is trusting of most people as long as they aren't outright malicious though. sierra seems haughty, but that's hardly the worst thing in the world to be. ]
