t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Almost half a year now? So I can like. Answer pretty much whatever questions, or at least point you towards someone who has a better idea...though "we don't know" is occasionally the answer.

Alright. What is this town? Where is it?

We call it "Chroma" and we don't know where it is other than, like, here. But in relation to anything else? Not a damn clue. [ but yeah, apparently "any questions". ]

Chroma. [At least he has a name for the town now, even if he still doesn't actually know where they are.] If you've been here for six months, I assume you and others have already tried to escape?

[So anything he might come up with immediately has probably already been tried.]

Yeah, multiple times. I mean...basically we kinda haven't found any way to really leave, though. Even flyin' doesn't get you far enough out to get out.

[ ANNOYINGLY ENOUGH ]

[Even flying doesn't work? Right now, Connor is assuming that means with a helicopter or small plane. Maybe a jet would work, but they don't seem to have easy access to such a thing here, and without equipment and materials they wouldn't be able to build one, either.

And Connor can't even download the blueprints to build one off the internet.]

And no way to contact the outside world? Radio, telegram...?

[He knows it's super antiquated technology, but if they don't have modern phone lines or internet, those are the next most likely options.]

All we have is a shitty internet forum that only connects everyone in the town. And also can only be used on our assigned laptops, in our homes. Or other people's homes. Basically, you have to use it in a house or on a house or it won't work, so mobile postin' is a thing of daydreams.

He can figure out how to work with this. Surely.]

[He's not sure if he'll be successful, but it's not like he can't do other things while searching for any kind of signal in the background.

Oh, nah, my bad, I'm a terrible guide. That's like, an everyone thing. Shit was entirely monochrome when we showed up - except for us, which continues to be true - but we've been like...earning colors back, I guess? Via missions. Sometimes colors fade away if people leave or shit happens, but we're slowly but steadily makin' progress. I don't know if you eat at all, but if you do anythin' without color tastes like ash, so consider yourself warned.

[This is all very good information to have, even if he doesn't make any logical sense. An entirely monochrome world? Colors coming back through missions? Is this some sort of video game?

But it lines up with the information he's gleaned so far, so he can't exactly refute it. He nods.]

I do not eat, but thank you for the warning, anyway. [If he needs to, he can pass it on to other humans/beings that have to eat.] Does the missing color affect anything else?

[ A SHRUG.... ] I'm not really sure, honestly. Plants without color seem to grow normal and shit, and like...I guess water looks weird? And tastes weird if it isn't from certain places, so.

So it effects the water, but doesn't stop plants from growing. [That's good to know. It might only be safe to drink the colored water, though, for humans.]

[He certainly will! In fact he thinks hexadecimals are a great way to categorize everyone, but maybe he shouldn't say that.]

Connor hasn't had much experience with teenage humans, but he's starting to wonder if they're all a bit like this.]

Regardless, it's still good to keep a regular sleep schedule. Your brain executes a lot of necessary functions while you sleep.
