Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

the forest

Plenty.

[Guren's been strolling along the edge of the forest to see if he can catch any newbies who are a little too courageous. It seems he wasn't wrong to check, but at least this guy is stopping to ask, first.

Those wings, though. They definitely have his attention. He's got a contract with a demon, sure, but it reminds him more of the seraphs from home— and that's... strange.]

It's dangerous, and you shouldn't go in alone. It's practically a living being, and everything in there is either some kind of mutated animal or mythological creature. I've been in and out with a handful of different people.

[ sandalphon briefly glances at him before he turns his attention once more to the forest.

dangerous and practically a living being, it reminds him far too much of the same forest his birthplace was surrounded in. would he find other primal beasts in it, the same ones that he's traveling with?
]

Have you seen a young girl inside during your trip? Brown hair with a plant growing on top of her head?

[ yes, it's a weird description but bear with him. if yggdrasil is in it, then he still be somewhere in the sky realm. ]

No, I've never seen anyone like that. The only people who show up here show up in that well. Everything else is either a monster, an animal, or a hallucination.

[So, that's great!] If you're looking for someone from home and you didn't see them in the well, then either they're around the town or they're not here.

[ ... sounds like fun! mutated creatures, monsters and hallucinations. ]

I don't sense them in the town so I assume that they're not there. [ how disappointing. one familiar face would be comforting, at least. ] But I sense ...

[ his red gaze flickers at the forest. there's a lot of things he senses in that forest, all of which he can't put his finger on. ] Perhaps it's my imagination, then.

I don't know about that. The place is twisted, so it could hold just about anything. I ran into demons one of the first times I went in there.

[So!! Speaking of that, though, his eyes flick back to Sandalphon.]

What are you, anyway?

[ psh, demons are totally doable and not a threat. c'mon, guren, have more spirit. ]

I'm an Archangel. [ he skips the part where he just became the overseer of the entire world but. you know, details. ] ... If I fly over the forest, will it make a difference?

[ like will he still see the hallucinations and monsters and all that? though with how dense the forest seems, flying might not even help. ]

[Well, he, a half-demon, could handle them just fine, but his group gave in pretty easily to temptation, okay.]

...An Archangel. [He repeats it, and it's not clear what his thoughts are, but his words are stiff.]

There are a few others who fly here, so you can ask them for the exact details, but I know it won't work.

[ he can almost hear the disbelief in his tone but sandy pays no heed to it. that's the reaction of most mortals towards them. ]

Why not? Is there something else about the forest that I need to know?

[personal profile] swordfucker 2018-09-10 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
The forest, the water... It's all the same. It's keeping us here.

[His fingers curl a little around the hilt of his sword at his hip, remembering.] It doesn't matter how strong you are, there's something stronger. Trust me.

[personal profile] heirworthy 2018-09-11 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ well, he's very familiar with that sentiment and all. it might be more helpful if the other primarchs were here but eh. ]

If that's true, then there must be a reason why we're being kept here. Is there also a reason why everything is ... [ he waves around him. ] Dull?
swordfucker: (8)

[personal profile] swordfucker 2018-09-12 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
There must be a reason, but it's hard to say what. When the first group arrived, nothing had color at all. Our actions are restoring it, by doing quests and making bonds, but...

I still don't know what it's actually doing, or if it'll help take us home. It's all we've got, right now.
heirworthy: (pic#12374770)

[personal profile] heirworthy 2018-09-12 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ doing quests and making bonds. his lips twist at that, clearly displeased by what he's heard. ]

Then they should've brought the Singularity rather than me. [ the person has their way of charming everyone and practically making bonds, even with a rock. sandalphon's just not the best candidate for that sort of stuff. ]

So we're being asked to do tasks without the guarantee that these tasks will return us to our realms? Optimistic isn't the word I would describe our situation, but ...

[ is it futile? passive acceptance? he doesn't know. ]
swordfucker: (186)

[personal profile] swordfucker 2018-09-13 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
They do directly help us. Color was restored to food, making it so it's not tasteless. We still have a long way to go, but it would be horrible to live here without the rewards we've gotten from those quests.

[Now it's only semi-horrible.]

There's no rhyme or reason to who they take, from what I can tell.
heirworthy: (pic#12374773)

[personal profile] heirworthy 2018-09-20 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ well, he doesn't really eat. or rather, he doesn't need to.

plus it's kind of sad to accept semi-horrible conditions simply because it's a bit better than horrible conditions. then again, as someone who just arrived, he can't really voice any kind of opinion about it.
]

Has the color of coffee been restored already?

[ most impt question of the day. ]

swordfucker: (131)

[personal profile] swordfucker 2018-09-23 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, actually.

[Having roommates who are coffee-obsessed as well has him well aware of this fact. They waited for that day.]

Pretty recently in the scheme of things, too. It's your lucky day.
