Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. The best place to fish. After all, one must eat, [sighs the creature that doesn't need to eat a damn thing.] And from the sound of things, I may be here longer than I'd like. I assume you haven't chosen to remain here?

[He doesn't sound particularly bothered by that possibility, but his tail... is definitely swishing at a faster rate.]

Naaah, definitely haven't. Not everyone here is from the same world, either, if you didn't catch on to that one already.

The best place to fish, though - I guess the harbor? I can take you there - but only fish with color are gonna taste like anything. Everythin' else will taste like ash. That goes for all foods, for the record.

[Different worlds? Been there, done that. Ashy fish, though? That's what finally earns Dave a Look.]

Fish with no color? No taste?

[HMPH. He abruptly stands on all four paws, not even bothering with that cute lil' stretch cats usually do. Gross fish! Charter help him...]

Lead me to the harbor, boy, and I shall see for myself. If this is true...

[And here is some nice, quiet grumbling, although Dave can probably pick up a few things here and there. "Two millenia of servitude," of course, and the good ol' "this is how I am repaid?" He is one seriously grumpy cat.]

You some kinda god or somethin'? [ he caught "two millenia" and sounds pretty blase about the possibility...

and dave is leading mogget to the harbor pretty easily. ]

[Mogget follows right along, but just imagine that there's a tiny little raincloud hanging right above his head? Because that is honestly how he feels... until he hears that question. That actually causes him to hack a laugh.]

I am a "something," I suppose. [A beat, and then:] Once I was many things, but now I am simply whatever I choose to be. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

[Is Dave surprised to hear a cat give THE vaguest possible answer?]

I'm supposedly a "something", too. [ the god of time or whatever for the new universe...

honestly, he doesn't bother thinking of it that often. ]

Anyway, here we have the harbor...there may or may not be merfolk and sirens still living in the depths, so be careful.

[He glances up at Dave, tail swishing low and slow. Supposedly? That reminds him of... well. It's interesting, that's all.]

Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?

[But then, without any further ado, he pads right over to the water's edge and peers down at the strange-looking water.]

Tell me more about these... creatures. Have you seen them?

It's both. [ the walker the path and the path the walker ] And it's easier to walk the path that chose you if you let yourself choose it.

[ but he's a time player, and he has Ideas about that kind of fatalism... ]

Anyway, I didn't see the merfolk, but I did see the sirens last month. They're like...creepy fish people who kidnapped about half of us, and apparently did so in order to eat people? I'm pretty sure they didn't actually succeed in eating any of us, because someone would have spoken up by now. Even if they had, people don't really stay "dead" here, although they do come back as weird-ass sketchy blobs before they come back normal. So that's fun, by which I mean it ain't fun at all.

[There's a lot that Mogget could say about that answer, but philosophical discussions with strange teens aren't exactly his cup of tea. He much prefers learning more about this weird and wacky place, which is why he silently bats at the water as Dave just lets it all out. It's interesting! Until, of course, Dave mentions the whole no-dying thing; then Mogget glances back his way, because this cat is, uh, sort of an expert about death and what comes with it? And this is... buck wild...]

The living cannot die in this place? You speak the truth?

[Water forgotten, he turns right the heck around to study Dave's face.]

Is no one concerned by this? You say it is no fun at all, yet the casual manner in which you speak this is... most strange.

[He should be terrified! HORRIFIED! What the fuck!]

I'm maybe more used to that kind of bullshit than I should be. Someone else who hasn't died a lot might mind more?
