Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

[Demons and cursed gear? It doesn't sound far off from ninja technology and the newly appeared group with a link to the mark on Boruto's palm. He's old enough now to be able to acknowledge when opponents and enemies might give them some trouble.

Doesn't mean they're going to win. Not with him and Naruto around.]

Don't be too hard on him.

You remember being a kid, I'm sure. But you may want to dissuade him from giving himself up to the demon completely for the sake of his friends. [He doesn't get he should be giving Guren this pointed look also--but maybe he will in time.] Family is important to him, but he's important to his family, too.

( yuu knows bits and pieces of latin, enough japanese to speak fluently even if his ability to read it is. lacking. definitely not italian though. how weird. )

I was just going to take over Guren's house.

( He has absolutely no idea what's going and of all the things he expected, this was not one of them. Before he can even stop her, she's biting down on him and he yells, )

Ow! ( Trying to pull his arm away, ) What the hell? Let go!

( And really, he isn't one to hit a woman because he was raised right and he's definitely not the type to get handsy or anything but this is an exception, right? So with his free hand, he tries to push her away. )

Get your mouth off of me!

Yeah, that one.

( he gets where people would get that impression of guren, at least. even if he's not that serious at all. )

He's my family.

( my older brother killed them. there's an image that flashes behind his eyes, a knife, his own cries of daddy please i'll be a good boy, of fire surrounding him as he sat in the middle of his family's living room.

he doesn't know this dude well at all, but they. have some similarities, he realizes. the kind of similarities he wouldn't want to share with anyone. yuu's expression darkens noticeably, lilt to his lips falling flat. )

I was at an orphanage when I was small, and we were all taken underground to a vampire city. ( none of this is a secret, even if some of the bits and pieces to the seraph stuff is. ) We tried to escape and all my kids were killed--except one, but I didn't know he survived until just a little bit ago. And then Guren found me, took me in, gave me a team and helped me out.

[Trying to pet the cat? Of course. Like. Look at it, all stretched out in the sun and Hunk is all about this, shuffling closer with a hopeful look on his face, one hand just in the midst of lifting and--

He makes a garbled, apologetic kind of sound.]

Ohmygod you can talk. Uh. I didn't think you would talk. Don't scratch me? Please?

[LIFTS HIS HANDS IN SURRENDER]

[ okay, well, he can do that, but not until he finds his laptop. dextera is used to herding chickens, and doing it with yuu isn’t really that different. he just needs a goal. ]

Once you get your laptop. Then you can.

[ is this what being a mom is like? ]

I’ll help.

[Hunk looks around left and right. On ground level, of course, because naturally one tends to look around at ground level for someone speaking to them... usually. And then he looks up and up, his eyebrows going high.]

Uh. Chroma? But that's the name everyone else kind of voted to give it, who knows what it's actually called.

It feels like the whole forest is a source, but I can't really tell. The water's no good, either.

[So... beats him. There's some rustling between the trees now, and Guren curls his fingers on his sword, just in case, glancing to it. Nothing, at least not now.]

...That's funny, coming from a vampire.

[RUDE... but he's only cold like that for a second before relenting.] But I'm glad, if that's the case. Vampires treat us like cattle where I'm from. Maybe you'll meet one of them here.

Haha.

[Guren laughs, only ruffling more aggressively in those few seconds before he finally pulls his hand back.]

We'll see about that, brat. [He'll protect them, he knows. They'll protect him too, in their own ways.] But you're right. They're family.

[Guren breathes out a laugh at that. He doesn't know how to explain that it's Yuu's self-sacrificial attitude that's been keeping him alive this whole time. The way he goes into things with his whole heart... he's fallen completely into temptation, but he's resisted losing himself all the same. It's a delicate balance, and one Guren needs for the plan he's helping along.

That's too much to say, though.]

You think I don't know that? He's got a will to live, so don't worry about him. He's tougher than you think.

You may call me Archer, Miss Levy. [ It occurs to him belatedly that the skirt thing is indeed something he has to worry about now that she’s getting up there. HMM. She doesn’t seem bothered by it, but… ]

But please be careful. And call for me if there is any danger above. I should be able to take care of it from down here.

[ Honestly, he kind of wants her to hurry up to spare them both the embarrassment…but if she rushes she might fall…! DILEMMA. ]

[Hunk is just living his Flavo life--that is to say, he's carrying a small crate of what looks like fresh supplies gathered from the community garden. Not too much, of course, because sharing is important and this is more than enough to make quite a number of meals, but.

He pauses, peeking to one side. Peeking right at someone peeking out at him.

Luckily it's not someone huge and scary, maybe someone as timid as Hunk?] Uh. Hey there.

[So diplomacy it is, and he waves at Kisa after shifting the little crate to one arm.]

Oh, it is the saddest tale, Miss Maya. Certainly unfit for your ears. [ That, and revealing his legend might not be a good idea without his master’s input.

But Maya seems so nice…could he really resist for long… ]

Hmm. No.

[ is she being difficult on purpose or is this just the person that she is? who knows! it’s possible that sierra herself doesn’t know. ]

I don’t want to waste the energy on discussing it if you aren’t going to commit in the end.

Ya don't say. ( Really? ) So which one's the good one and which one's the troublemaker, huh?

( This is how families work! )

You found him already? ( If he's understanding this correctly. ) And you aren't staying with him?

I thank you very much for the compliment. [ Hell, he can’t help a little smile at that, even. ]

But I like to take inspiration from our surroundings, and as you can see, it is so very bleak.

[He waves a hand dismissively.] Actually, that won't be necessary. I can work with others if need be, but most of the time, I fight alone.

[Taking on the most dangerous villains, sticking his neck out the most, minimising casualties by not involving others. That's what he's used to, even though he knows how to cooperate with a team just fine.]

But, if you need any help whipping the squads into shape, I'm your man! I recently became a teacher of Foundational Hero Studies, [emphasis on 'recently'] so I can teach your defenders a little about heroics, too.

I don't think you know how contracts work! I won't sign first and learn the terms later.

[Please!! He's not a fool!]

Chuckling, “Well, the harp playing is a hobby, but I am indeed all of those things.” And then, somewhat conspiratorially, he leans in, “Between you and me, however, I much prefer wielding the harp.”

( Nodding, )

Everyone's running around helping all the new guys out so he's probably doing that. You're a big guy so I bet he'll see ya from a mile away!

( But is Mutsunokami a friend? Ah, he can answer that easily, )

Mm! Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki! ( It's a weird name, don't judge!! ) Shouldn't be too surprising though, right? Izukkun's the kind of kid that makes friends real naturally.

I'm no stranger to something like tragedy.

[ which is true, even if she says it with a smile. ]

So it could be coming from anywhere, huh... [Lovely. Well, he'll look into that, somehow. The rustling makes him freeze, and even when it seems like nothing is coming for them, he still speaks more quietly. Aaa.]

Now, you must have some idea as to why only certain items have color to them.

[Of course it's more nerd stuff.]

... Maybe a few people. Some people come from some bad situations back home.

[Where a place like this would be better than that... it says a lot.]
