t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [It's fine, Percy's literally going to go a whole week before realizing Nico's here because that's just how his life is. Idiot. He misses the expression but it's something he constantly thinks about. There's a noise of acknowledgement though.]

That's all true. I showed up with Annabeth, but a different girl I know showed up this time. Nobody's sure why. You'd think there'd be a reason for choosing, but. [He shakes his head.]

Believe me, I'm working on it. Figuring out a way back or at least finding out where people go from here. That's all I want to know right now.

Uh. I don't think so, but I haven't looked very far today. What exactly does an angel look like in this instance?

[Listen, he understands this brand of protag...probably because he is this brand of protag. Nothing at home made a lot of sense a lot of the time either, so what's the point in confusing people here? Onward they go.]

I've done a ton of quests just to have stuff to do, but every now and then the town does some weird stuff on its own. Werewolves invade or sirens show up to kidnap people...portals open...you know. Totally normal stuff. [Absolutely normal.] I've done some exploring on my own, too, down in the ocean. After a while you start looking for anything that'll maybe give you an answer.

She has small white wings and braided pink hair.

It's possible she looked like a prinny but all her "dood" placement was awkward. She does a terrible impression.

No, no, you're fine! You can just call me Ryan-- or anything you want, honestly, I'm used to going by different names.

[Well, usernames, specifically, but he's unsure about bringing up the internet when he's not positive whether someone's familiar with it. It seems safest that way, honestly.]

And don't worry about giving me too many details, either. Information gathering's part of my job too, there's not really anything I could learn that won't help right now. The town's going to be here to get acquainted with no matter what I do, yeah? So I might as well take my time.

[And besides-- he does seem a little more at ease, by now. The conversation's helped in that regard as well.]

[ Even if she's not familiar with the phrase, Lottie still understands it enough to know what she means. And while it sounds pretty medieval, she doesn't have any say in it because it's not like she's going to do anything about it herself. ]

Right. No police. And that seriously works? Like, nothing bad has happened since you guys came here?

She. My bad. [But then the name registers and he looks briefly startled by...something. It's fine, it's fine...Bianca seems to be a popular name for girls who are dead but he's keeping that to himself.] I'd want attention if I was a ghost, too, I think.

[Ryan's asking something nicer though and he moves to latch onto that.] Yeah. The group before me set up a lot of the stuff we have now like the garden and the supply spots but people keep building new stuff all the time. I think that's why the town's happy with us.

Hard to miss then. If I see her, I'll send her straight to you. [...] What'd you say your name was?

[ She figured that out in the well the moment she tried calling the police, so the mention of no wifi or signal does not shock her as much as there being no way to charge her phone. ]

Other stuff like what?

[ Lottie is going to pointedly ignore the offer about magic - mostly because she's not even taking him seriously about that. ]

It can't be more important than basic communication?

-well, the recovery time's nothing new, but-- wait, are you saying other people have come back?

[How else would he be listing off unwanted side effects, Ryan.

But his steps slow a bit at the idea anyway, before he lengthens his strides again to catch up.]

[ the newcomers all seem to have interesting questions about their governance this time around! it's fair, but it does make her laugh a little awkwardly. ]

Well, not between us to my best knowledge. The danger is more out in the woods, and when it comes to the town to hurt us.

I don't really have anything going for me besides the whole extra sense, but I'm sure we could make it work. There's always running for it if things go too wrong.

[ Well, she knows what a hex code is (thankfully). And it definitely is long (long enough for her not to remember.....sorry). There's just one thing though, she feels out of the loop. Especially since she has no idea what hers is. ]

[This is one of the very few times he's sounded honestly concerned about something since arriving here, and he frowns, worrying at his lip for a moment while he thinks.]

Probably not good. I mean, maybe it's a little hypocritical of me to say, but people without that kind of ability coming back... I can't help feeling like that's a bad sign, y'know?

...I mean, a lot of those are pretty bad, if we're talking the original versions.

[A thoughtful hum, there, before he quickly adds-]

Not that all fae are like that! One of the ones I talked to was pretty decent, once you got used to... well, they have particular ways they operate, you just have to get used to them in general.

[ She definitely wouldn't. In all honestly she would probably go some variation of ballistic if he dropped it, so it's nice to see someone treat her phone as tenderly as she does. Lottie even looks a little smug, livelier than before, at his blatant praise.

It feels nice to be appreciated by the public, even if the public had no idea who you were two minutes ago. Gotta look at the bright side! ]

..Oh, thanks! Gotta stay ahead of the trends, y'know.

[ And she can tell, in an odd way, he means that compliment genuinely. Maybe it's because she doesn't feel uncomfortable or slightly threatened, like the usual response she'd feel from a man.. A good sign? ]

[ a part of him expected that she'll be the type who would protest and ask the fate of the others in the well. and a part of him is relieved that she's not and she didn't ask him either. because he's not sure how to let her down gently and tell her that no, he won't be helping them, they can get out on their own. ]

Pardon me. [ he takes her hand but instead of simply dragging her along with him like a doll, he goes to lift her in his arms. princess-style. ] If you have complaints, I'll can either listen to them after we get out or you can yell to it me from down here.

[ her choice. otherwise, he'll go on their way, his wings spreading and beating to get them aloft. ]

As for details about this place, you will undoubtedly find out everything quickly enough. I will give you some warnings immediately, though. Eat the food that has colour. Do not go into the forest alone. And be cautious, for the town has some means of entering our mind and making real our thoughts. The latter does not happen often, thankfully, but that it happens at all makes it worth being aware of.
