t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. I get the feeling it's more complicated than that.

[ Like Sasuke would be comforted by having the other around and maybe doesn't like the idea that the guy's so far out of reach but also knows that Naruto is needed elsewhere so he's glad the other man isn't here. Or maybe after having known the blond for so long, Sasuke would be just fine being on his own and it's just Nico projecting his own feelings on the ninja.

Thankfully he doesn't have to dwell on the thought too long because they've moved on to the last object Nico had in his pockets. ]

It's a message sent by an idiot who sacrificed himself and then came back to life. I look at it whenever I want to get angry.

[ ghost quartz pls it wasn't even one of his longer speeches. ]

A kind one, huh. Are there any unkind ones? Or is Phos [ he'll just shorten it, sorry ] just kind to you?

[ Definitely seems uncomfortable, shrugging a wet jacket on like that.. He'll get a not so subtle brow raise at that. ]

Oh, really? [ Better than everything else that's happened in the last fifteen minutes, at least. ] I don't know how those things work exactly, so.. That's good. [ Lottie, at least, has the decency to hide the cringe she feels at her own eloquent choice of words from sight.

She crosses her arms, letting her nails press against her skin. ]

..And that's the same with the one on your head, right?

[oomfies]

[ Lottie is about to say obviously, she didn't even leave her own home without her laptop, right up until he mentions a house. Ugh, that's right. That stupid, stupid letter she found..

Lottie manages to stop her face from souring long enough to come up with a response. ]

Okay.. What's your username then?

[The answer isn't what he's expecting. He had been looking serious, thinking it may be something like the technique scrolls from his world. Full of secrets, full of abilities. But no. Nico gives him another explanation.

It's so surprising that an amused smile turns the corners of his lips up a little more than normal. It sounds... like something he'd say, honestly. Probably about Naruto, since no one else was Naruto's level of idiot.]

It must say something pretty stupid. [Naruto.] Does it work?

We don't really have calendars here, so it's hard to keep track of time. But I started keeping a journal, and if my calculations aren't off, I'm pretty sure I've been here .... a little over a month, maybe two months.

[ so, not very long. ] That being said, I also came here by myself. Some people are like you, who come here and meet other people from your own world. Others just follow after a time ... there's no real logic to it, and it's difficult to say whether being here attracts others to just turn up in the well.

[ Most things that might contain secrets or abilities are either lost in time somewhere or kept behind glass in some museum. Nico may not be a kid born in the age of technology but even he didn't use scrolls for writing when he was little.

The question actually makes him pause. ] It did before I got here. Not sure if it does now.

[ Without prompting, unfolding it onto the floor and as soon as he does a flickering hologram appeared on the surface of the parchment paper. It's the image of a teenage boy with dark wispy hair, mischievious grin and short statue - though the hologram is only three inches tall so it might be hard to tell if one didn't know Leo Valdez. Then he starts talking.

“Hey, guys!” Leo spread his arms for a hug. “Sorry to leave you like that. Bad news: I died. Good news: I got better! I had to go rescue Calypso. We’re both fine now. We’re taking Festus to—” The image guttered like a flame in a strong breeze, disrupting Leo’s voice. “Back as soon as—” Static. “Cook tacos when—” More static. “¡Vaya con queso! Love ya!” The image winked out.

That's it. That's the whole message. Even now Nico's scowling a little at the blank scroll. ] I had this for almost six months before he turned back up at Camp. And when he did get back, I had everyone line up so they could hit him.

[oomfies]

[ Lottie is still screaming, even when she's abruptly pulled into a stop, suitcase to chest with this odd stranger. Sure, they saved her, but at what cost.... Her sanity? A heart attack?? The sweat and adrenaline she's totally feeling right now through her nice top!?

She'll ponder about that word of choice later, but for now - ]

Um, I thought you said this was safe? What about that was safe?!

[ She is shaking like a leaf and, quite frankly, would be crying if she wasn't so angry. ]

[osteotome]

Okay. That means you're associated with yellow here. I'm blue.

[ The golden alloy arms would be a good hint, even if that actually isn't always a good indicator. But Phos knows whereand Honebami follows, occasionally staring at them before turning towards the path. Hopefully it's not too weird or unexpected considering how... Dull people look in comparison? Less shiny for sure. ]

It's called a "laptop". You can use it to communicate with other people if they're also using theirs.

[Hmm.

When the scroll’s hologram is finished, when Nico is finished, one of the most surprising things ever happens. If not for all the rest of the weird shit that goes on in this town’s little world, it may have been one of the most surprising things to happen to date for sure.

Sasuke laughs.

It’s not loud or long, but it is wholly amused and very genuine, and it echoes through the room out into the hall. The corner of his eye crinkles, and his mouth, though not open wide, smiles with the motion. He doesn't try to hide it or excuse it, and he doesn’t bring any attention to the fact it happen. It just does.]

And everyone hit him?

[The story is... familiar in its essence. It reminds him very much of his school days, of Team 7 and his peers, of the Uzumakis. Even the newest one, his pupil. Boruto. Thanks for the laugh, Nico. He needed it.]

[ The laugh is so surprising that Nico's head jerks up from the scroll to look at Sasuke. Granted, he's only known the man not even a day but something tells him that the ninja doesn't laugh like that very often.

Well, it's nice. Both in the sense that the guy is amused and that he can still laugh like that even after whatever his life must have thrown at him. Gives Nico hope for his own future.

He folds it back up carefully, not wanting to rip it even if technically the scroll isn't needed now that Nico's been able to hit Leo. ]

Or kicked or did whatever they felt was proper punishment. Then told Leo that he could expect the same treatment down at our ally's camp too. Everyone everywhere who knows him wants to hit him for what he did.

[ Does it matter that Leo saved the whole world by sacrificing himself along with their enemy? Nope. His friends and allies all wanted their turn. ]

[He’s made her day just by saying that.]

Finding a guy named Guren might be a good idea but he’s a huge nag. [You go into the sea with a couple of your friends, get kidnapped by mermaids, disappear for a couple of days with no one knowing where you are and he acts like it’s the worst thing ever...]

[Well, this place is gonna be wild. Food is a good distraction, though--teenage boys eat a lot, big teenage boys eat even more, and Jotaro hasn't eaten since before he arrived, so now that he remembers to think about it he feels like he's starving.]

Lunch sounds good.

[And now they are roomies.]

[ No... Awful! He's lucky he doesn't immediately see the pain that crosses Lottie's face at the thought of her living space being invaded. She needs at one place to be ugly before society sees her.

She manages to fix her face when she turns back, suitcase being zipped closed. ]

What, like Uber?

Oh... well. Not a lot, but a couple of times...?

[Minato tilts his head for a moment, lips pursing ever-so-slightly.

This is the not fun part for people to figure out.]

A lot of us--the first group that showed up here, I mean... we've been here for almost half a year now, I think.

[oomfies]

Like, the olden times? That medieval? But.. But I need my phone!

[ Lottie's hand moves to grab at it from her person, staring down at the screen in fear. ]

And no one has thought to make anything that could keep the battery up? Literally no one?

[messianic]

[But is she okay? Is it okay that she made that promise to be by his side? Is she okay now that he's--

There are a lot of things that he worries about, that weigh on his mind, but... he can't ask. Not yet. Not right now. Maybe...another time.

... Another time, surely, he'll be able to ask.]

Please don't worry about that.

[He flashes her a small smile, weak but sincere.]

I've been fine here, so... you're just in time.

[Lonely, maybe a little, but... he wouldn't wish some of what this place does on any of his team.]

[He's the friendliest shark-like sharped teethed 15 feet tall thing you can find anywhere! Just like a big, muscly teddy-bear...zora-fish. Yes.

On that looks rather disappointed.]

So not exactly a good place for one to relax. That is disappointing...

[hamerhead]

As long as there is some water for me, Princess Zelda, and a familiar face such as yours, then I do not require anything more.

[Well Familiar Now, considering he hadn't recognized her at first. You know...just a phrase. His heart was in the right place. He thinks about the houses again...]

Maybe I will try to crawl inside and see what it looks like later.

[It as hard to ignore the call, despite having lived in the waters for his entire life.]

he extends a hand towards her suitcase. ] I'll show you. It's pretty neat.

[They are very tiny brick buildings as far as he is concerned. He grins once more - you'll get used to it eventually as others tend to do around him.]

Do not worry about my safety! I've had my share of trouble in waters before. The dangers in Hyrule are many. If sea creatures bother you I will do my best to rid of them for all of you!

[Too bad he's a month fashionably late.]

[Having just taken care of a possible flood back home, the look he gives her is one of pure horror combined with 'let's not do that. Ever'.]

Even if I would survive a flood, many others would not. Let us not risk such an endeavor...but your powers are impressive if you are able to perform such a feat.

[Without missing a beat, Sidon will then find other vines and let them downwards towards anyone still down there to help them out before looking back at her, a grin on his face.]

Have you never met Zora's before? I will need some water, but I can survive outside bodies of water.
