Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

I think so? He ran up walls and everything...! It was super dreamy!!

Was your first clue that we arrived in a well?

[This is a completely sincere question. He isn't capable of sarcasm (or is he?). But as he's looking around... it does seem like there are colors missing from certain objects. Maybe his vision is malfunctioning?

His eyelids flutter while he runs a quick scan, but... no, everything seems fine.]

Do some things seem to be... missing color, to you?

[And this is the part where budding friendships are torched, because Jotaro knows the polite, sociable things to do here would be to either stay put and watch Lottie's bag or go and look at the board with her, but. But! He also realizes he's been feeling with perfect certainty the presence of one of his family members--his mom, probably, since she was the one nearby right before he found himself in an enormous well, but conceivably also his grandfather since freaky phenomena are more his thing--and there is nothing more important to him than making sure they're okay.

Which is all to say that as soon as Lottie is distracted by the posted messages, Jotaro sets her towel on her bag without a word, sneaks off to disappear as best he can in the little crowd that's developing as more people make it out of the well, and then starts making for Flavo.

Sorry, green-haired lady. He'll at least feel guilty about it later...]

Hahaha.

[Reim is funny, he's like... so not like anyone from Guren's world since they're all army types prepared to fight or die. It's a nice change. Endearing, he guesses? But anyway, he puts out his hand to stop their walking, glancing into the forest.]

If we keep going this way, I can sense something a lot worse than that squirrel thing. I'm sure I can take it no problem, but it's up to you if you want to see it or not.

[ If Sebastian doesn't believe him, he can't blame him. He's not even sure he believes himself. By all the logic he knows, this entire situation shouldn't even be possible - yet here he is, and here he has been for almost half a year. After a while, he just had to throw logic to the curb. ]

I thought you must be from around my time! That's a bit of a relief. I was starting to feel like the odd one out.

[ which he's normally okay with, but not when it means he knows less than everyone... ]

Did you get a good look at everyone down in the well with you?

It's a regular cozy village, [ he replies dryly. If it's not living up to her standards now, he can't wait until she learns about the disease and the werewolves (not.) ]

One I'd be happy to tell you about. My name is Arsène Lupin - might I have the pleasure of knowing yours?

[ Oh, she definitely has them. It's a shame she can't access her website directly, there's a lot more content on there than her gallery. She swipes through her folders to get to the good stuff - while it isn't labelled where in LA it is, it's a folder with photos set in that location.

She hands the phone over to him. ]

You can swipe through these ones. [ Some include Lottie posing, looking far more put together and perfect than she does now, and some don't. Which makes sense why he asks his question - her ego inflates that much more. ]

It isn't, don't worry.. [ He actually isn't that wrong - a lot of people tend to move to LA for that reason. But hers is.. oddly specific. ] I moved to LA to become a fashion blogger. [ She doesn't think she could really act all that well, anyway. But she is good at standing and looking pretty! ] Now, I have my own line of clothes, following, and I model.

You've got a lot of energy, don't you?

[ He quirks an eyebrow. At least it's positive energy - Lupin can get behind that, if that's all it is. (Possibly weirder than Impey still remains a very real threat.) ]

Hang onto that. We haven't a leader or even a culprit, but we do have to fend for ourselves out here, and it's hard work.

[Turning just a bit, Sasuke glances up at the house again. When he follows his own pull, he should end up at a similar place, he supposes.]

If someone wanted to kill you [He thinks about Itachi, here, more than anyone else, more than even himself.] there wouldn't be any signs.

[The words are kind of like an added joke to Nico's own, but Sasuke's face, pensive, serious, seems to say it's not much of a joke after all. There's some truth behind it, and maybe the truth is somewhat personal.]

There's feathers, but I can't say what it means for certain. They're big. You're either rooming with a very large bird, or you're rooming with someone who has wings. I found a few scorch marks.

There's two laptops inside. In different rooms.

[ his relief that they're letting him off the hook is punctuated by bewilderment at their explanation. They're a gem with another gem's head? Is that possible? Technically, it must be, but -- does that mean if someone knocked Cairngorm's head off and put it on this gem's body, it wouldn't be Cairngorm anymore? He can't even be pleased about guessing right when the answer is bizarre - and somewhat unsettling.

But it's not like he can ask about it, either. It's obviously a sore subject. Practiced as he is at keeping things off his face when he doesn't want them there, his expression remains carefully neutral as they explain; only the slight hesitation before he responds belies any kind of confusion. ]

Fosfofolite...? [ wow that's a mouthful. he hasn't heard of this gem before, either. ] My name is Lupin - Arsène Lupin. Cairngorm is a good friend of mine, so I know a little bit about your kind. Do you mind if I call you "Phos?"

[Without interruption, Sasuke listens to Kaoru's story and... feels a bit worse for it. Not on Kaoru's part. Not even on the story's part. The fact it's familiar, the fact he can actually step back and say, "Yeah, that's me," is what sucks the most.

But it's needed.

His absence wasn't something he hadn't seen, hadn't understood. His absence was something he put on the back burner. Sarada has Sakura, her mother, a fine woman if anything, and that was enough... he thought.]

You're right. [In brief meetings, he's told Sakura as much--as little as it may be for someone like him. Sakura probably understands his actions better than his words by now. Sarada, not so much.] I regret I didn't have the opportunity to say so before ending up here.

Thank you. My name is Sasuke Uchiha, in case you meet someone looking for me.

[ While that is true enough, Nico has his reasons for making sure he isn't moving in with an obvious killer. There are often times when he sleeps like the dead and wouldn't be able to wake up even if someone did try to murder. ]

Fine, fine. But if you're omitting any obvious signs that my new roommate is some kind of serial killer, I'm finding out where you live and crashing at your place forever.

[ It might be said rather flippantly but don't doubt that Nico won't do exactly what he says. They may be virtually strangers yet he trusts Sasuke over some unknown individual. Or at least trusts him enough that if he did try to kill the demigod that it would be a quick death. ]

Great. Just what I always wanted... a pyromaniac bird-person-thing sharing my lodgings.

[ Though he does perk up just a bit about the mention of a laptop. ] Maybe the laptop can tell us something more than the bulletin board did.

[He is right. Though he's perfectly capable of adapting to humans (and other beings!), so if a bond is what Zelda wants between them, he can at least simulate that.

Right.]

I hope that will include you.

...That's your name?

[There's a hint of a smile on her face that indicates some teasing might be on the way.]

[Even if he did take his pants off, it probably wouldn't be enough. Connor looks up, thinking and calculating.]

If I lift you up, can you reach the neck of the well and climb up?

[Connor knows he could, but he's no sure Momo can lift him up. He's fairly lightweight, but it would still be like lifting up a well muscled human.]

... Chores?

[What?

Oh man he's been with a servant for so many centuries.]

I don't know if the clinic does, but I'm pretty sure Shouto's been setting up ice boxes around town to keep things cold. [...he might regret this question, but:] Do you need to store organs right now?

But of course.

[ there's no reason to not! even if he is a machine, that makes her all the more fascinated. a love of technology is strong in her, though always limited by the narrow-minded people of her world and their fear of it. ]

I would love to learn more about you, and your kind. If you can call what you are a "kind." Research into technology is a passion of mine, so I may have to pick your brain.

I could.... [She trails off there, one finger set on her chin before she smiles brightly:]

But I thought this was supposed to be an apology from you.

[ Is Ari supposed to... follow? Is the conversation over?? Unsure what the case may be, the boy predictably ends up trailing after the vampire demon.

It's kind of a relief, actually. Ari has felt so lost since he arrived that it's nice to run into someone ~~who seems~~ competent. ]

[The threat of being freeloaded by a teenager actually amuses him slightly, and he smiles just a bit for it.]

If you want to stay with me until you figure out who else lives here, you can.

[He won't force it awkwardly on Nico... but the invitation is there anyway. He doesn't blame the kid for being caution. Staying with him is almost as suspicious, but he's trying to at least show Nico he doesn't mean any harm, and he's sure Nico knows. Otherwise, Nico would have never so casually made the joke.

Stepping out of the way, Sasuke lets Nico have room to pass and head inside.] Go ahead. I'm behind you.

[Please learn to doubt people, small child.

But Val doesn't discourage him from following along like a duckling. Eventually he makes it to Ruga, with it's placard. Well this isn't the right place for either of them. So he starts walking into the next place.]

[ No worries about that. As soon as they start moving upward, Ari forgets about his embarrassment entirely and clings to her for dear life. He's not terribly afraid of heights, but the sudden movement is unfamiliar and jarring.

Thankfully, he doesn't tumble back down into the water far down below once they reach the top, instead landing safely on the grass beside the well with Shiho's help. ]

> "Th-thanks..."

[ He repeats his gratitude from before, a little shaky for the experience, but ultimately he's fine. Mission success! ]

Alright. Let me know if you need any help.

[He is here to help on the first day! Or anytime after, really.]

[ Nico wouldn't be a freeloader, he's more than capable of pulling his own weight around a place for the most part. He can at least clean up after himself.

There's a long moment where it's completely obvious that he's considering the offer very seriously. ] Maybe sometimes but I can't figure out who lives here if I'm never around.

[ Whenever he feels the powerful need to take a nap after shadow-travelling, Sasuke will find Nico at his place. If the man had wanted to kill him, he's sure he would have already. For now the demigod will place his trust in the ninja when he's at his most vulnerable or just swing by when he's had enough interaction with any cheery people who might be about.

A single nod and he's moving into the house, casually looking around - the place is about how Sasuke described. It doesn't take him long to find one of the laptops, which he gives something of a frown before opening the lid. Here's hoping it doesn't go on the fritz. Nico's not exactly an expert on using it but he manages. ]

Huh, looks like the only thing on it is a message board. People using it to communicate with each other. If there's any information here, we'll have to dig for it. [ He looks over his shoulder at Sasuke. ]
