t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [ A wave of his hands, as if to say don't worry about it. ]

This is probably the part where I bluff and say I have a black belt, or whatever.

[Similarly to her last words, there's a light, joking tone. Regardless, she glances towards him as they start to walk.]

Natalie. And... Yeah, if you think that's the best bet to start with, that sounds good.

[With no further preamble, Sadie points right at a rock.]

Ha-di!

[A colorless hieroglyph blazes in the air above her, and in the next moment, the rock shatters - its pieces go flying, thrown outwards by the blast.]

Not that complicated. Go on, answer: yes or no?

[Off they go! Sadie takes Kisa's hand without any problem and leads her along. She doesn't really know exactly where they're headed, but their wanderings eventually take them toward the waterfront.]

...oh! You're in for a treat. You ever been to the beach before?

It could be different times. I can't say time travel would be the oddest thing to have happened to me.

[Traveling through a well into another world? ...even that doesn't quite take the cake. It's likely the same for him, too, she thinks.]

You said your magic was similar to mine. Can you transform, too?

People are scared of all sorts of things. Besides, some fish have very sharp teeth. Haven't you ever seen a piranha?

I don't mind. These boots--

[She gestures down at her colorless combat boots.]

--were made for it, and all that jazz. Let's go.

I guess it's almost like a rite of passage by now...? [ Dry laughter... ] But, yeah, maybe we should do something about that! My poor glass heart was about to shatter down there, you know!

It'd be hard to build a ladder high enough to get out of there, though... A super cool ninja had to help me out, this time.

...There are so many answers to that, and I don't think you'd like most of them.

[Based on his expression when she swore earlier, that is.]

[ Again, he wants to say 'extreme', but the word ends up sounding too trite. As upbeat as he is about 95% of the time, the realization that danger is real and present is what pulls his easygoing smile down into a thin half-frown.

He's woefully underprepared for this, and he knows it. ]

...A little hard to wrap my mind around, to be honest. I'll try to figure it out as it goes, but—

—How have you been dealing? Has it been hard for you?

Oh, come on. That's totally unfair, you have to tell me your name.

[He doesn't, and she knows it, but she's hoping that her completely affronted tone will somehow convince him nonetheless. As he continues on, she gives a small shrug, and her first response is, of course, sarcastic.]

No, I'm completely unable to see anything at all at any point, so I hadn't noticed yet. [There's barely a beat, before:] Yes, I've seen the state of my surroundings.

—You'd definitely like my other half! He's super handsome, a super gentleman, and great at cooking! My darling is the one that really pulls all the weight, so please be kind to him if you ever see him, okay?

[ He is, of course, completely unabashed about saying so. ]

But, thanks! Even if it's just for the time we're here, I hope we can be super good friends... [ ah, he didn't even ask for her name...! ] ...What's your name, by the way?

[She glances his way as he makes it out of the well, but almost immediately, she's looking away in an attempt to pretend that she hasn't left the area solely because she's too busy examining her whereabouts. Whether or not that's convincing, she speaks up as he addresses her.]

Of course I am. It's not like it was hard to get out or anything. [...] This place is already pretty trippy, though.

[purrsuasively]

[The second that Mogget realizes what Jon is planning to do, he tenses right the heck up. That distance looks far too wide for him to jump! Obviously he's planning to just, like, dive into the water while holding a cat, because haha, isn't that hilarious? Isn't that the best prank of all time???

Except that... doesn't happen, of course, and he can't help but to feel relief when Jon's feet touch down on the nice, solid deck. He's too old for this! He's way too old for this!]

Thank the Charter for that. We shall see if the interior measures up to this sterling endorsement.

[That comes out a bit more cross than he'd wanted it to, but he's not about to apologize for it as he looks around. A boat is a boat, he thinks, and he has something else on his mind.]

That... leap of yours. [He sits up straighter in Jon's arms, peering closely at the bot's face.] How did you accomplish such a thing? I sensed no magic.

[purrsuasively]

[Leaving him alone sounds boring? No, thanks. And do you know what else sounds boring? That town.]

A village in a forest sounds pleasant enough, but you need not fear me terrorizing your village if I am ever nearby. I much prefer the cold.

[He's the slightest bit salty! Just the slightest bit!!]

How long do you plan to stay up here? There are other things to do, you know.

[purrsuasively]

[Pride? A desire for power? Humans, Mogget thinks, will do the dumbest things for the dumbest reasons, but he bites this back as he continues glaring at the ghost cat.]

Stuck by their own accord, or thanks only to the assistance of others? I wonder. It is rare for a soul to find its way back to Life without a necromancer... clearing the way, so to speak. [He huffs lightly.] What do you really know about your companion?

[purrsuasively]

[He's used to humans doing The Most at every available opportunity; the fact that this one is so calm does him credit, but Mogget still gives him a haughty look as he settles across his shoulders.]

There is a difference, boy, between thrashing and climbing. [He's just sayin'.] But if you are offering to take me somewhere dryer, and if you can, then by all means... do as you will.

[He'll just, you know, chill where he is. A wet cat stretching over the back of your neck must feel absolutely awful, but Mogget doesn't care the slightest bit. He's ready to go!]

[purrsuasively]

[When you're kind-of-sort-of-but-not-really a god, you have no time for mystical bullshit. A church? Lame.]

It is rather quiet, is it not? A good place for a nap. [He even hops up onto a dusty pew, testing its comfort with a paw before looking back at Tristan.] Or would you come here for other reasons?

[purrsuasively]

[There's a lot that Mogget could say about that answer, but philosophical discussions with strange teens aren't exactly his cup of tea. He much prefers learning more about this weird and wacky place, which is why he silently bats at the water as Dave just lets it all out. It's interesting! Until, of course, Dave mentions the whole no-dying thing; then Mogget glances back his way, because this cat is, uh, sort of an expert about death and what comes with it? And this is... buck wild...]

The living cannot die in this place? You speak the truth?

[Water forgotten, he turns right the heck around to study Dave's face.]

Is no one concerned by this? You say it is no fun at all, yet the casual manner in which you speak this is... most strange.

[He should be terrified! HORRIFIED! What the fuck!]

[He world-hopped back in his younger days! It's been a few millenia, but it wouldn't surprise him if this turned out to be another world that—well. Just another annoying, troublesome world.]

Perhaps. But it matters little if one can; the proper thing to ask if one wishes to be anything other than what they presently are. I... do not. [A beat, and then:] Most of the time.

[What a horrible cat?? But also that's valid and Percy nods along. It makes sense to him, and everybody's gotta eat.]

Bluo would be your best bet since it's near the ocean. There're plenty of places at the harbor that people fish at all the time. If you're patient, you can even find some that have their color and taste.
