Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

Meanwhile, the current characters have some new gifts.

If there are any questions, please ask them here, and have fun! Thank you!

[Infrastructure, huh.... well, it takes all kinds...?]

Has anyone ever told you that when you flatter someone too much, it’ll start sounding fake? [That’s not true. She loves being flattered.]

'Unfair' isn't the word I'd use, either.

What word would you like?

[It's not like Okuni doesn't understand where Val is coming from. If you have that kind of pride in your occupation and in your fellow comrades, it's a given that you'd get upset when said comrades start diverging sharply. It never feels good to see people stray.

Okuni replies with a soft 'hmmm' as she thinks all of this over.]

You sure are passionate! [okuni] I'm used to humans, so I don't really get disappointed about how they are anymore. It must be harder for you though.

[An undemonlike burning pride for his job. That sure is Val. His personal comrades are doing an admirable job with all the stuff that's happened at home.]

I'm not disappointed by humans, I'm disappointed by my fellow demons!

Er, mean?

What's the point in making people afraid? What good does that do for people?

[personal profile] promissum 2018-09-15 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
It makes them live conservatively and keeps them from sinning.

.... what?

[....Come again.]

That is the noble purpose demons serve.
brightlyshines: (Hm)

So you're saying demons exist to make people scared of going to Ge-- the netherworld? Or....?

That is correct, lass.

How inconvenient.

[ it’s worrying, actually, though she’s loath to admit that to someone she just met. ]

Do people show up like this regularly? Give me a headcount of how many are in the town now.

I’m a vampire. What are you supposed to be?

[ she looks down at the saw in their hands, and she knows that she is absolutely, without a doubt, not going to let them get anywhere near her with that thing. it’s better for them, honestly, that they jumped back on their own. ]

Some kind of living statue?

[His eight foot vertical leap is sick, right? But Akira isn't exactly short, which is why, as Mogget makes himself more comfortable, he can't keep himself from quipping:]

Grow much taller and you shall hit your head against every doorframe in this town.

[These doors all look tiny? He's just sayin'. But as soon as he's perfectly comfortable, he turns his attention to the many buildings they're passing. He's seen worse, yes, but he's also seen a lot better. He's used to a lot better.]

Tell me this town has many kinds of fish, for everything else seems to be... sorely lacking.

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles dryly, because doesn't the inconvenience of a scratch depend on how deeply he decides to carve? But hey, he's new here! He's on (relatively) good behavior for the time being, so...]

Perhaps it is? Perhaps it isn't. You will have ample time to ponder the many possibilities, Natalie.

[Because as he finally sits up, he pointedly does not give her his name. And he looks rather smug about it, too. Cats!]

That aside, you are lucky indeed if a silly name is all that is necessary for you to almost enjoy your stay here. You have seen the state of your new surroundings, yes?
purrsuasively: (19)

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Thaaaaat's Mogget! He's the Worst.]

It's only polite. And you know, [Mogget says faux-thoughtfully,] other cats will rarely warn you before they strike? So perhaps my advice will save you unnecessary pain in the future.

[That's almost a generous thing to say, before he, you know, sighs in a rather dramatic fashion.]

Provided, of course, that you actually heed it. You humans so rarely do.

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[An unconventional exit to be sure, but it really was the easiest way for him to get them both out of the well. As for that bow, though... hmm. He regards her for a moment, tail swishing, before abruptly turning away. There's another very bright flash of light, and then—oh, hey. He's suddenly normal-sized once more, and he promptly trots a bit closer to her.]

You are welcome. [He says this somewhat stiffly, because he's not used to humans thanking him for anything? Wild. And this would be totally fine if he didn't immediately follow it up with:] When I see you again, you may repay me by finding something for me to eat. A fish is preferred, but I will never say no to a songbird.

[Is he serious? Is he joking? Hard to tell! But this is his (rude) way of saying that while he isn't nice enough to invite her along with him, he'll probably check in on her when she's settled the heck in. He has a feeling... that she'll be here for a while. Him, too.]

For the time being, you should remain near the well and look for a familiar face... or a particularly kind one? I suppose any helpful person shall do.
purrsuasively: (13)

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Damn, Sasuke, just read him like a book! He tilts his head, trying to look as innocent as he possibly can, but when diversions are scarce... well, humans can be good fun.]

What an interesting assumption to make. I've been by your side for quite some time now, yet I've made no attempt to terrorize you.

[Maybe it's on his to-do list now. Hmm!! ]

And humans rarely look where they're going, it's true, but large cities have their charms. Large fish markets, for example. Or houses full of fat mice. [He should make a cat vacation guide. Anyway, though—] Does this... Konoha of yours have any such delights?

[Give this nosy feline the deets about your hometown.]
purrsuasively: (05)

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[All dogs are bad!! And you know, it's awfully hard to look dignified when you're a damp cat sitting atop a community board, but Mogget is doing his absolute best. He waits for the dog to sit beside its master, unable to resist giving it one last glare before turning his full attention to this oh-so rude human.]

I am what I am, and it is no business of yours. [HMPH!] I suppose you ask everyone you meet to reveal intimate details about themselves? After you allow your dog to charge at them, of course.

[This wouldn't be a big deal if a dog wasn't involved, but Mogget... is extra salty.]

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[What the fuck is Egypt? Mogget doesn't know, but he suddenly wants to vacation there.]

A most sensible society. "Egyptian," however, means as much to me as the Charter undoubtedly does to you. [AKA: Nothin'.] We are from very different places, it would seem. Or very different times? There are many things to consider...

[And all he wants to do is 1. eat and 2. sleep! Jeez!]
purrsuasively: (19)

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Bedtimes and... bread? Mogget could snort, honestly, but he somehow manages to keep his humor in check. Many of the adult humans he's served over the centuries wouldn't last a day without a gaggle of servants tending to their every need, so he's willing to admit that Jon is... sensible. Maybe.]

No bread? A veritable tragedy. But if I should ever come across a loaf, perhaps I will keep you and your friend in mind. [A sniff.] I much prefer meat, anyway.

[IT'S... the best way he knows how to thank this kid?]
purrsuasively: (24)

purrhaps!

[personal profile] purrsuasively 2018-09-15 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[...Girl, what the fuck is that? Mogget takes a second to study that picture... and if cats had eyebrows, one of his would definitely be shooting up right now.

But as soon as she walks away, he follows right on her heels. Lead the way to some FOOD! He's not eaten in hours.
]

We shall see how many you actually manage to catch. [He's the practical sort. But even though he feels like this is probably going to take him down a very stupid road, he can't resist asking:] Tell me, did you draw that... curious picture? Of a diseased bird, I believe.

[It was hard to tell what he was looking at, honestly.]

[Jotaro's face crumples a little, briefly, at the mention of burying friends. He still hasn't figured out what to do with his own losses, and he can't begin to imagine the sheer, concentrated fuckery Giorno experienced before arriving here--doesn't even have a clue as to its magnitude--but he can respect the evidence that the boy in front of him isn't a heartless monster like Dio was. His hands unclench at last, and Jotaro slips one into a pants pocket like someone might holster a gun.]

I understand. I won't give you any more trouble. [He turns to leave, to give Giorno time to deal with the truth, but decides to say one more thing first.] I probably don't know the things you want to hear, but if you ever do want to hear about him, or if you need a hand with something, I'm staying in Bluo.

[Lottie, you won the fuckin' bad luck lottery. But while he gives her an incredibly flat look that she may or may not be able to actually see in this dark, he does recognize the benefit of bringing the pack along. Maybe she has useful stuff in there? Maybe she has food in there. Hmm!]

In a manner of speaking. If I may make what should be a rather obvious suggestion—

[Here's a pause, just because he wants that to really sink in, before he continues on.]

Tie the end of the rope around your pack? Then, after you have climbed to the top, you may pull it right up after you.

[Mogget chuckles—yes, chuckles—as he steers them toward the church looming in the distance, because the truth... is rarely clear-cut. Even he can admit this.]

Which am I? I suppose you shall have to wait and see.

[He bounds a few steps ahead, looking around at the church's surroundings. He's not sensing anything magical about this place? It's just another run-down building, but like he's going to actually say that. If Tristan knows something he doesn't....]

For now, I suggest you focus your attention on finding this leyline of yours.
