QUEST 26 - Shouto

[So okay. Percy and Shouto haven't hung out a lot and he's heard about him mostly from Izuku. They went on their water adventure together (with Izuku) last month, and they've chatted a bit (thanks to Izuku), so Percy figured maybe it made sense to branch out and try to befriend the guy on his own.

Fighting's definitely how people bond, right? So. He heads to Shouto (and Izuku's) house and he bangs on the door with a fist, hands sliding into the pockets of his jeans again. As soon as Shouto answers the door:]

Hey. Do you want to come fight fairies with me?

[Hi.]

[glaciers]

[Percy isn't wrong. Fighting is absolutely a great way to make friends.

But it does take him a few minutes to crawl out of bed and open the door. His hair's a little messy, the red and white not perfectly parted as usual, but he did interrupt a nap. A few more seconds before he properly registers the guy at the door as Izuku's friend Percy.

Might as well make friends with Izuku's friends.]

Sure. They're strong against magic. I hope you have a weapon.

[Because Shouto only has his body.]

[hydrokinetics]

[He doesn't seem to mind the semi-sloppy appearance. It's not like Percy's put together or anything either. That seems to be the right answer though because Percy simply nods and steps aside. He's not sure if Shouto's ready to go like he is or if he needs to grab anything from the house but he's in a ready-to-move stance.]

I have a sword. Think that'll do it.

[glaciers]

[He runs a hand through his hair and only succeeds in making it messier. A note is written for somebody before he slips out the door and starts heading towards the forest.]

Let's go.

[hydrokinetics]

[Onward!! As Percy leads the way, he turns to glance back at Shouto and considers what he's said.]

Have you already done this one before? Or have you just dealt with the fairies on your own?

[glaciers]

I did it once with Giorno.

[He glares down the forest.]

Keep your guard up, they like playing with their pray and they stay in packs.

[hydrokinetics]

Why doesn't that surprise me. [He rolls his eyes and he reaches into his pocket, pulling out a ballpoint pen and keeping it between his fingers.] How big are they? Normal fairy-size?

QUEST 24 - Dirk

[Percy Jackson is a man on a mission, and that mission is to stop forgetting to follow up with people and actually make more friends. He's accepted that he's not going anywhere by now, so it's best to try and make allies and friends and work together. The quests are a good start and he goes through his (admittedly short) list of people he's spoken to and never got back to.

Dirk happens to be one of those people, and after some futzing around and messaging him on the forum, they agree to meet at the well to fulfill one of the quests. As a red, it made sense to bring Dirk to try and get some honey from the bees in the woods. Also they're just bees. This is probably fine. So he waits for Dirk and inclines his head when he sees the boy approaching.]

Thanks for coming with me, dude.

[ for obvious reasons dirk's social circle has always been on the small side. it's not inaccurate to say that the amount of people in chroma has been kind of overwhelming and it takes adjusting to have his circle expand so much. it can be easy for some contacts to slip through the cracks. however, he never forgets any names or hex codes from the people he's interacted with.

it's a pleasant surprise then when he gets a message from a familiar one asking him along on a quest. dirk doesn't really need any convincing, he's down for it straight away. he's usually in need of something to do and it's been quiet since the sirens fiasco. a quest is the perfect way to keep occupied.

he wastes no time making his way over to the well, nodding a greeting in return to the figure waiting for him. ]

No problem, man. I hope you know where and how to find bees because frankly I know fuck all about them.

[ waterworld apocalypse doesn't exactly have them. ]

[hydrokinetics]

What, no underwater bees? [It's a joke, obviously, but it's enough to keep the atmosphere light as he pushes himself off of the well and gestures for Dirk to follow. Two dudes looking for something to do? It's easy to proceed and Dirk is chill enough for Percy to get along with.] Don't worry about it. I think we can figure it out without really knowing a lot about them. Pretty sure we can find them in the woods though. That's where most things seem to be coming from.

[What does Percy know about bees?] If we're going after honey, we're probably looking for a hive, too.

[robosmith]

[ it gets a soft noise of amusement out of dirk at least. ]

Unfortunately, no.

[ interesting concept though, those underwater bees.

he follows along amicably as they head for the woods, nodding in agreement. when in doubt, look in the woods. especially when it comes to critters, fantastical or otherwise, and quests. so makes sense for quest-related creatures then. ]

So find bees, find hives, grab honey. Sounds simple enough. [ a beat. ] I'd bet my bottom boonbuck it's not going to be. There's probably nothing that can be considered normal in those woods although I can't claim expertise on what is and isn't.

[ but they can hope?? some quests have turned out pretty straightforward. ]

Good point. Why would anything be easy? [But he's striding forward anyway. He has a small jar in his pocket and that seems to be good enough for him.] I have a feeling you could be exposed to the most normal and abnormal things in the world and this place still wouldn't make sense. The sirens from a few weeks ago were different from the sirens I've seen. Same with some of the other monsters around here.

QUEST 24 - Natalie

[This is maybe one of his less-than-stellar ideas, but Natalie had asked enough about the town and Percy always figured it was better to show instead of tell. If the quests were going to be a part of everyone's lives so long as they were in the town, it made sense to prepare her for things to come.

As such, he's waiting for her out by the well after arranging to take her on a quest to show her the ropes. One of them is more excited about this than the other, and it's probably not Natalie. As she approaches, he finds himself watching her and giving her a once-over to assess what kind of skills she might have.

At least he has a sword.]

I'm going to guess you've never done something like this before.

[robitussin]

[She's heard enough about the quests by now that she's definitely wary, even if she's not quite prepared for what they're about to go up against. There's no way for her to have a frame of reference for something like this; as much as she'd say her life has been anything but normal, it hasn't been quite this abnormal, either. That's why she hasn't brought anything with her, not that she has much to bring.

Whatever the circumstances, she meets him at the agreed upon place, glancing his way as she approaches.]

I'm not even sure exactly what it is we're doing, but there's a pretty strong chance the answer is no.

Harvesting honey from bees. Pretty straight-forward, but it's a good introduction. I've done this already so I kind of know what to expect. It'll be helpful to get you settled in here. You're not scared of bugs, are you?

[robitussin]

That... sounds easier than I imagined it would be. Not that I've ever harvested honey, but I'm sure I can figure it out.

[She shakes her head.]

Not really. I'll manage.

[hydrokinetics]

[Yeah, about that...] That'll make it easier. Are you afraid of mutants?

[THIS IS PERHAPS NOT HOW HE SHOULD ASK THAT QUESTION.]

[robitussin]

...Okay, hang on. Before we go any further, I need to be absolutely certain that you're not implying these might be mutant bees.

[Save her.]

[hydrokinetics]

Okay, here's the thing. [NOT HELPING.] They might be mutant bees? But they might also just be really big bees that aren't mutated. It's hard to say what the forest will give us.

quest 26!

[withwisdom]

[ there's nothing like bonding with the people you live with by going off to kill some fairies!

(that line only sounds good in her head and so she won't ever speak it aloud.)

zelda is prepared with her bow slung over her back and the sheikah slate in her belt holster in case she needs to go off tossing a bomb or two. she's already fought the fairies a couple times, and by now her only real goal in pursuing them is to ensure they aren't going to cause any havoc. ]

Ready to head out, Percy?

[hydrokinetics]

[You know the problem is that he'd actually agree? That's the worst. But sometimes you just have to kill some fairies to level up in friendship and it's why he flashes her a grin before he nods.]

Think so. Looks like we have everything we need. [He doesn't appear to be armed, but he's keeping his hands in his pockets anyway as they set off on their journey into the woods to hunt down some fairies.

He's done this a few times, too, but he has a similar goal in mind.]

I haven't decided which is easier. This, or the bees.

[withwisdom]

[ a snort. ]

It's not an easy pick. The bees are just bees, living as they are. Technically we're the aggressors here, taking their honey. The fairies are dangerous beasts. Maybe it's in the eye of the beholder then.

[hydrokinetics]

Well when you put it like that I almost feel bad for the bees. [Almost. Not quite though.] Maybe I just didn't think of it that way since dangerous monsters are normal. Have you done a lot of fighting back where you're from?

[He's pretty sure that bow's not for show at least. He's taking a hand out of his pocket to brush aside some low-hanging branches as they walk through the forest, but his other hand seems to be wrapped around something in his pocket.]

[withwisdom]

Truthfully, no. Others did the fighting for me. [ she wasn't allowed to wield a weapon, and there was no time to train her for it. ] I've been learning archery since I arrived here. My teacher is gone, but I still practice on my own.

[ she's not the perfect shot, but she gets most of her hits in. better than nothing at all. she does notice he's only using one hand as they go in and through, but figures there must be something powerful he's clutching onto. ]

Will you tell me what's in your pocket, Percy?

[hydrokinetics]

[Huh. That's something he can respect, actually, and it shows in his face.] That's awesome. Practicing's a good idea given how weird this place gets. [It also shows initiative which he likes.] I spent a long time not knowing how to fight either. Even if I don't talk to the guy who taught me anymore I still remember a lot of his lessons.

[Granted, it's hard to talk to his sword instructor when he's dead but that's a whole other thing. He looks a bit surprised when she asks though. It's habit, mostly, even if he knows the weapon will always return to him eventually. He's been without his sword before and it always terrified him a little.

But she asks, and so he removes his other hand and shows her...a ballpoint pen. There's also zero sense in being coy about it though given she's about to see him use it once they come upon the fairies. He takes the time to pull the cap off of the pen and it shapeshifts into a bronze-ish sword with a three-foot blade.]

Riptide. It was given to me years ago and I'd be pretty useless without it.
