A. Bees to see - OPEN
- [Guren feels as though he's been going a little easy on the quests lately. It's time to fix that. He's antsy, he's got an empty jar in one hand and his other on his sword, and he holds it up to anyone who might pass him by.]
Have you bothered getting any honey yet? You can come with me.
[And with that simple line, they're off! Unless your character has any resistance, of course, but assuming they don't, Guren leads them right into the forest.]
I wouldn't be surprised if these things were huge and mutated, so let's be prepared for that.
B. Wildcard - OPEN
- [If you want to hit Guren up for a different quest, even if he's a red, feel free! Try to ruin his day? Just see what he's up to? This is my generic space to say anyone can tag me even if I didn't plot things with them, so feel free, or hit me up at
Closed prompts in the comments!
yon... how did I manage that it wasn't even a phone tag
He sort of is. Combat with magical aspects, at least.
The body count is getting up there, though... and Guren doesn't want to test what other sort of spells they can throw. He glances over to Minato to check on him.]
i shamefully didn't even notice.......
The number of them seems to be thinning out, but on the other hand, it's probably only a matter of time before they're hit with some sort of actual spell--
In this case, RNG says blind SO BLIND IT IS.
Minato's dealt with a lot of status effects. But not that one, and he stumbles back with a very quiet noise of alarm (he can't see???), and hopefully does not stumble over Guren and/or a fairy.]
no subject
[He is stumbling back into just about anything, it looks like. A fairy, nearly, that Guren spears through with his sword, and then into Guren himself, who wasn't expecting Minato to just keep going like that.]
What's wrong?
[What was he hit with? He'd like to find out, gripping at Minato's shoulder to steady him, but they're still throwing things their way. An ice spell, first, that Guren slices through with Mahiru-no-yo to null, and only their surroundings get the freezing chill of that. Minato can probably feel the cold wind from it.
And then, a fairy is chanting some other spell nearby. Guren slaps a fuda her way, but it bursts into flames uselessly before it even reaches her. Defenses?]
Shit— [This is annoying.]
no subject
[Minato shakes his head once, and again, but it doesn't seem to help; he's at least calming down immediately now that he's realizing it's probably some sort of spell or status effect or something. It's definitely not permanent (right?).
Guren's hand on his shoulder is both grounding and keeps him in place; he drags in a deep breath, closing his eyes.]
I can't see. It must have been one of their spells.
no subject
[That's just great!! Even Guren would struggle with blindness out of nowhere, so he can't expect Minato to do anything. He just keeps his hand on him to keep him grounded as much as he can, deflecting direct elemental spells.
But there are so many of them chanting. It's only a matter of time before a status effect hits him, too.]
I'm going to have to leave you to take them down. Stay put, okay?
no subject
[That answer comes quickly, in a low tone as Minato keeps his sword point carefully away from where Guren's voice is coming from.
The blindness was startling, but now that he's settling... he can handle this, it's fine, right? He just need to listen for Guren's instructions.]
Don't worry. Just focus on what you need to do.
[He may not be great on the offensive right now, but he thinks he can at least defend himself from any of the little assholes who sneak through Guren's guard. At least, until Guren also gets hit by something. But they'll cross that bridge when they come to it.]
no subject
Thankfully, the spell that Guren gets hit with isn't too harmful. One minute, he's calling out Mahiru's name, fighting, and the next— he's completely silent? But there's still the sounds of fighting, so he must be alright.
He is, in fact, slaughtering fairies one after the other. Some come straight on at Minato, and those are easier to deal with, but the ones who come silently from the sides or behind are ones that Guren can't rely on Minato to see. So, he runs and jumps at a couple of those, sometimes having to put his hand on Minato's shoulder or back in an attempt to let him know he's here.
He's not sure it helps.]
no subject
Nothing else.
So there’s a soft, concerned:]
Ichinose-san…?
[It’s not knowing what’s happening that’s the worst; Minato can’t even really fight without risking hitting Guren with some of his wider range spells, even though he knows Guren’s more than competent in a fight.]
no subject
It's short, too, since moments later he has to tear away to take care of another fairy, knocking it into a tree a ways away and draining its life from that force alone.]
no subject
He doesn't even flinch at that; it's a very familiar gesture, the sort of touch that he knows the fairies wouldn't be able to do, and he settles a bit under it, relaxing fragmentally. Well.
If nothing else, even if Guren is silent, he seems to be okay, right? That's what that gesture says.
So he just breathes out a soft sigh, eyes sliding shut (since really, there's no point to keeping them open right now anyway).]
Got it. [That's said quietly, but firmly.] Everything's okay.
[Presumably. Boy, he hopes there aren't too many of them out there for Guren to take on on his own.]
no subject
A pain in the ass. Either Minato has to pick up on the fact that Guren's sword isn't swinging and there's not the sound of his footsteps right now, or he gets hit by... whatever that is.]
no subject
Minato definitely picks up on the eerie silent lack of Guren's sword swings fast; it was what he was focusing on, both to stay out of his way and to try to keep track of Guren's well-being. So he's definitely frowning immediately, brow furrowing, as he opens his mouth again:]
Ichino--
[He doesn't really...get that far. Now that they're properly incapacitated, the fairies seem to be going for offensive magic instead of toying with them; there's an uncomfortable, eerie giggle, and then what one of them flings at Minato straight on is... just a pretty solid fireball. For his part, Minato's not near anime ninja enough to dodge something like that while blinded; he takes it head on, grimacing at the heat of it, and the scorch marks on his...clothes.
That's it, though, because honestly? Minato's own magical resistance is nothing to dismiss, not with Messiah at the forefront of his mind. He brushes off the fire spell with a furrowed brow, an expression on his face that's edging closer to irritated, and then he lifts the Evoker to his temple.
It's Messiah that he summons, and the spell that he uses, Megidolaon, is probably, at this point, a fair bit of overkill with how many of the fairies Guren has taken out already.
But he's concerned. He can't hear Guren anymore, and he's getting very sick of these assholes.
And so Messiah lifts a hand, and the spell hits the entire battlefield in a burst of blindingly white light; it cuts straight through magical defense, that's its entire purpose as a spell, and while it won't do anything to Guren, it definitely knocks the majority of those remaining fairies straight out of the air and to the ground (if it doesn't...incinerate them outright... which is probably does to a fair few of them).
... Still, once he lowers his Evoker, there's still just concern in his tone, cutting through the silence:]
Ichinose-san? Are you okay?
no subject
Nothing he can't take, but he still prefers to dodge. So when all of the remaining fairies are slaughtered, there's just the thud of Guren being freed by the vines and dropping to a knee.
He's coughing, not that that can be heard. He just needs a second.]
no subject
But.
Minato doesn't hear the chittering of the fairies anymore, and no more spells head his way, so he carefully walks forward step by cautious step, brow furrowed.]
Ichinose-san... I know something like this couldn't really take you down, but I'm a little worried anyway.
[Not being able to hear him is. Well. Alarming. Especially with that thud from before.]
no subject
This time, it lingers, and slides down so he can take his wrist and tug gently, encouraging him to walk a few steps with him, just to test. Good??]
no subject
Good.
Everything's good. Obediently, he follows, perfectly trusting.]
Some sort of mute effect, maybe...? Like we're in an RPG. [This is stupid. But. What was he expecting, really...]
Are you injured otherwise, Ichinose-san?
no subject
Fine. That's what he writes.]
no subject
That's good, then... we can probably start heading back then.
[Hopefully these wear off? Minato's kind of hoping they will by the time they get out of the woods, but either way...
Time for them to tramp their way back carefully! Minato probably faceplants over a log at some point, that's just the way it is, I don't make the rules.
QUEST ACCOMPLISHED.]
