A. Bees to see - OPEN
- [Guren feels as though he's been going a little easy on the quests lately. It's time to fix that. He's antsy, he's got an empty jar in one hand and his other on his sword, and he holds it up to anyone who might pass him by.]
Have you bothered getting any honey yet? You can come with me.
[And with that simple line, they're off! Unless your character has any resistance, of course, but assuming they don't, Guren leads them right into the forest.]
I wouldn't be surprised if these things were huge and mutated, so let's be prepared for that.
B. Wildcard - OPEN
- [If you want to hit Guren up for a different quest, even if he's a red, feel free! Try to ruin his day? Just see what he's up to? This is my generic space to say anyone can tag me even if I didn't plot things with them, so feel free, or hit me up at

[Illusions are easy to avoid, he thinks, but names? Well. He can probably manage that, now that he's conscious of it. Dextera won't be a worry, and Ryo can probably manage, too.]
There's no need. It's just the three of us. As long as we check our surroundings, we'll be able to communicate well enough. What would they do with our names, anyway? They're not just creatures that play harmless pranks, I take it.

[ dextera doesn’t know how much the fairies here will resemble the fae folk of legend, but better safe than sorry. he doesn’t want to end up the slave of a fairy because someone called his name out telling him to watch his back—but then, if “dextera” isn’t even his real name, would it work? ]
They’ll steal you. So it says.
[ all roads lead to imprisonment, it seems. ]

[ Dextera isn't alone in wondering if it'll even work with fake names; 'Ryo Asuka' was the name given to him when they couldn't find out his actual identity and where the hell he came from. ]
no subject
One of those, huh. Alright. No names.
[Just in case. He adjusts the bracelet on his wrist, peering through the forest ahead as they walk. Just a bit deeper, probably...]
No matter how we set this up, we're probably going to be the ones ambushed. That means I can't form a perfect strategy other than watch my lead. There should be a basic formation. How are you going to fight? [He looks at Ryo for that.]

it sounds unpleasant, especially for someone who has also been worrying about taking honey from bees, but fairies are probably a little more devious than the insects of this town. ]
…
[ dextera rests the weight of his sword in his hand—this one is from the sirens, and he hopes it can do something useful. ]

[ He won't know for sure until he actually sees what kind of fairies they're going to deal with here, though. ]
Also, folklore holds that fairies are vulnerable to iron. A steel knife could be more effective than lead bullets.
no subject
...But like I said, it's too difficult to plan it exactly. Just try to stick to that whenever possible.
[He's quiet after that, but his eyes follow something in between the trees, focused. He felt something, he's sure of it, but he's trying to unravel what must be an illusion starting, and he can't seem to find the ends. Is it just him, or...?]
no subject
…?
[ when he looks back, over his shoulder, he realizes the path they’ve taken has changed, and he touches guren’s arm to alert him to the difference.
it doesn’t matter if they know they’re being bewitched, if it works. that’s the trouble of illusion. ]
They’re here.
no subject
Be careful.
[ Without any sort of warning whatsoever, one of the fairies casts an elemental spell, sending a spray of ice at the trio's feet in an attempt to freeze them where they stand, or at least slow them down. ]
no subject
Guren looks serious, and he's already stepping forward. Of course, the fairies have already started their attacks. There are more among the trees, though they'll be difficult to spot, sending spells this way and that. Guren can't block all of them— he's focused on the first one, kicking off the ground to launch himself at it quickly and swing.]

…
[ finally, dextera withdraws one of the bones that he’s collected, in both this town and his world, from his pocket, and steps back to put some distance between the others in his little party.
luckily, he doesn’t have to bite this one. when he tosses it, it’s like an arrow shooting straight for one of the fairies, and there’s a small explosion on impact.
of course, the fairy cries out and drops like a fly. ]

Ryo spots a lone fairy that's a little further away from the others and decides to go after it, sidestepping the slippery patches of ice. His fingers curl tighter around the handle of his knife as he lunges it forward; he misses the main body but he does manage to tear a large gash in one of its wings. ]

Messing with perception, trying to paralyze them, confuse them, shooting elemental magic... It's some sort of light spell that knocks Guren back now, slamming his back into a tree and creating a blinding flash for the others to deal with.
It's burning him from the inside, and he's busy trying to struggle past it when another fairy shoots fire balls at each of them.]
no subject
it’s not the first time he’s been blind, but it does mean he shouldn’t be swinging his sword or throwing bones. instead, in his aimless flailing, he incredibly grabs one of the fairies from the air—though he knocks it with the back of his hand first, really—and snaps its spine. he would feel worse about it if it weren’t trying to kill them. ]
Ngh—!
[ as soon as the fairy falls, he feels the tail of his coat catch fire? please. it’s not as bloody as the harpies, but dextera thinks it definitely hurts worse. the throng is slowly clearing out, but a few of them are descending on ryo now just to pull at his hair in a kind of petty revenge for that wing cut. ]

Several seconds pass before Ryo manages to get back up on his feet, a stream of blood trickling down his forehead; he doesn't even get the chance to wipe it away before the fairies descend, giggling unpleasantly as they start yanking hairs out of his scalp.
Thankfully, he still has his knife—and a dark smile plays around his mouth when he slashes at the fairies with enough force to bisect one of them, a spray of blood landing on his collar. The next one isn't so lucky because it's still alive when it drops to the ground after Ryo's knife slices its abdomen open, but it doesn't have to suffer for long before Ryo crushes its skull with the heel of his shoe. ]
no subject
We're not staying here too long. Finish up with the ones directly attacking you and start retreating back!
[He doesn't want to play with magic like this for too long, even if Ryo seems to be having a fun time over there. Energy leaks from his sword as he mutters Mahiru's name, borrowing more strength. He's going to take out all of them left, if he can help it.
His speed sure has increased, and any of the fairies trying to attack him aren't able to do it fast enough, but Ryo and Dextera will have to finish their own fights and back off themselves.]
no subject
…
[ what he can do from here is at least take out the fairies surrounding him, and it’s not long before the ground around them all is littered with fairy corpses.
at the end of it all, his coat is still burning a little and his foot is a rock. ]
no subject
Once they're dead, he does as told and begins to back off. He grabs Dextera by the arm and attempts to tug him along, not noticing his current problem. ]
no subject
Three more. He'll be there in a jiffy, guys.]
no subject
he manages to extinguish his coat at the same time ryo pulls at him—burning his palm just a bit in the process—and he realizes just how heavy his leg has become. ugh.
it must have been one of the fairies now trying to take out guren, or maybe the magic will just take longer to wear off. ]
Foot—
[ slow down, is what that really means. ]
no subject
I hope that's not permanent. [ that would suck tbh. ]
no subject
But now, all the fairies are done with, as long as they don't wait here longer, and Guren... is bringing his free hand to his face, and then blinking repeatedly. He can't see.
He can hear the fire on the tree nearby, and he can hear the both of them moving away. He doesn't know what's happened to Dextera or what might be permanent, but he turns back to them, taking an unsteady step forward. Listen, feel, it's temporary...]
It should fade away in time. [He's moving rather slow with his sword still out, isn't he.]
no subject
good thing guren is blind! ]
Ah…
[ he nods, curling his hand back to his chest. unsurprisingly, he can’t immediately see what’s wrong with guren. it just looks like he might be woozy. ]
Are you OK?
no subject
[ like that one time at the sabbath when a guy started hitting him with a baseball bat after his little stabbing spree. he glances over to guren, noticing that he's moving rather slowly. ]
You're looking unsteady, Ichinose-san.
no subject
They hit me with a spell. I can't see. [He can't see what Dextera's face might look like to hear that either, and he grits his teeth.]
Keep moving. Don't slow down for me, or more will come out to ambush us.
