A. Siren follow up
- [On the day that everyone returns from the island, Guren gets to the docks looking like an even hotter mess than when he'd left. His injuries may be gone, but anyone might catch that he definitely faceplanted on the docks and stayed there for a minute before being convinced away to take a nap somewhere.
Immediately after that, he comes back to make sure everyone's had something to eat and been bandaged, if not healed. He looks a little less filthy, thanks to Dextera's purification, and his wounds are all completely healed! His uniform sure is torn up, though. It seems like he's nonstop even now, going between people, bringing plates of food or just sitting next to anyone who looks deep in thought.
If you don't catch him then, he stays at Dextera's house the night of, and the following day, he's back to wandering around the town or working on his laptop in his own house. Feel free to catch him if you want a follow up thread from the event!]
B. Training montage
- [As always, Guren doesn't let up on his training. He can be found close to the forest for things like this, usually as early as 5 in the morning. Stretches, jogging, exercises, things like that. It seems like he's taken to altering some of the peasant clothes to be workout worthy. Sleeveless, loose pants, and so on. When he's not doing that, he has a number of fuda (paper spell tags) that he's shuffling through, taking some sort of inventory of what he has on him. His sword is currently leaning against the base of one of the trees, and though no one else can see her, Mahiru is watching on with a curious gaze.
Don't stare for too long, though, or you'll get roped in. Hiding or not, Guren can sense someone looking his way, and he sighs, stopping whatever he's doing to stare over in that general direction.]
What, you want to join me? Come here. [He'll put you to work!!]
C. Cooking...?
- [What's a little more rare is seeing Guren walking around with a bag of what seems to be... vegetables and various foods hanging over his arm. He's stopped at one of the gardens, crouching over one of the food plants and holding it in his hand, brow furrowed like he's trying to figure something out.]
Hey. [Eventually, he bites back some of his pride and turns to whoever he sees next.] What kind of meals have you been making here? Anything good?
D. Anime rooftop prompt
- [It's funny, but sometimes Guren seems to appear out of nowhere in the middle of the town, looking worse for the wear. He's definitely wiping blood from his mouth as he leaves from his hidden apothecary this time, but more than that, he's carrying himself a little differently. Shoulders heavier, eyes tired and dark. Testing drugs on yourself isn't a fun time, it turns out, even if your demon heals you.
After that, he heads back towards his house, but it's one of the buildings with a flatter rooftop that he ends up on, instead. He's watching the sunset, leaning back against the wall near the doorway to the roof, looking lost in thought. But he won't chew out anyone if they want to join him.]

Now that they are here........
Minato has no idea how to actually catch said pig, so he's definitely looking at Guren.
NOW WHAT.]
no subject
Guren tries to mime out jumping the pig and stabbing it. He's gotten better at charades with Dextera, but he still looks ridiculous.]
no subject
Minato does kind of pick up on what Guren wants out of him here but.
Both eyebrows just kind of arch.
How good do you think he is with a sword?]
no subject
That is to say, Guren gives him a Look, and then just mimes a gun to his head. FINE. DO THAT THEN...]
no subject
So.
Minato drags in a slow breath, brow furrowed in concentration, and then he flings himself forward to stab his sword clean into the boar.
Which... he does, sword point sinking deep into the animal's back.
On the other hand, it appears to have some giant wings, and it's flight response is literal flight, which is how Minato ends up dangling from his sword hilt in the air as the boar, bleeding and losing strength fast, attempts to fly away.
To his credit, he's not letting go, at least.]
no subject
The head drops to the ground and rolls a bit, and the body should follow soon after, with Minato stuck in it. Guren drops elegantly to his feet, sheathing his sword already.]
If you want it to avoid suffering, as well as causing you more trouble, you should try to aim for a vital point first. Its heart, or its head.
no subject
It means he’ll just have to commit this to memory, and practice until he’s better, right…?]
…Got it. I’ll make sure… to do better next time.
Thank you, Ichinose-san.
no subject
[He crouches down and takes a closer look at the boar corpse. Hmm, how does he want to deal with this.]
Practice with easier targets first, and you'll get better.
no subject
[He'll just have to move forward and do his best from here on out? If nothing else, he feels like he understands a bit better, though he's definitely going to have to work a lot harder to do better.]
Thank you for guiding me in this, Ichinose-san.
[A beat, and ruefully, as he stares at the corpse as well:]
I'm sure I'm going to need a lot of practice, but at least I have a better idea now.
no subject
[It's good on all sides!]
Want to help me carry this guy back?
no subject
It's fine though; for now, he just nods peacefully.]
Let's do it.
[He's scrawny, but he's stronger then he looks--they can handle this.]
... What do you do with it after you bring meat like this back...? Do you give it to people? Or try to salt it and store it?
no subject
[So, there are those things. He's moving to help pick up this bloody pig corpse.]
For me, I usually just take what I need immediately. It looked like some others were already hunting for everyone and storing it, so I didn't bother helping.
no subject
[He did hear about Shouto's icebox, so that's good... It makes sense.
Upsie-daisy with that pig corpse... ugh, it's heavy.]
Then... I'll try to add what I can when I can, and take what I need from there, too. Things have... gotten pretty stable here, haven't they?
[at least in terms of town survival.]
no subject
[That's a little short, but he doesn't mean to shut down Minato's words or anything. As he's adjusting the red bracelet on his wrist, the one that matches with Dextera's and stays mostly hidden under the cuff of his sleeve (he's weighing the pig on his shoulder briefly for this), he's just thinking that he's worried about using that word. It seems to invite misfortune. They already get enough of it.
And nothing ever is stable in his life.]
But anything can change.
no subject
[Minato just offers that up idly from where he's hefting up the other half of that pig corpse with his best effort.
So he doesn't quite see what's on his wrist, beyond that flash of red, and that Guren paused to adjust it.
Hm...!!]
Not that that's a bad thing. I know that it's important to stay on guard. But... like I told him, I think for now I want to be a little optimistic.
[Someone's gotta be, right?]
no subject
[Says the guy who has noticed how similar the kid is multiple times and worried for him. Shhh.]
...But it's fine. Go ahead and be optimistic. You've got people like me and him to worry about the bad sides of things.
[And now he'll just help him move this pig back... Off they go.]
