Warnings: None really? Prompt D may have more gore mentions depending on how it goes, tho.

A. Siren follow up

[On the day that everyone returns from the island, Guren gets to the docks looking like an even hotter mess than when he'd left. His injuries may be gone, but anyone might catch that he definitely faceplanted on the docks and stayed there for a minute before being convinced away to take a nap somewhere.

Immediately after that, he comes back to make sure everyone's had something to eat and been bandaged, if not healed. He looks a little less filthy, thanks to Dextera's purification, and his wounds are all completely healed! His uniform sure is torn up, though. It seems like he's nonstop even now, going between people, bringing plates of food or just sitting next to anyone who looks deep in thought.

If you don't catch him then, he stays at Dextera's house the night of, and the following day, he's back to wandering around the town or working on his laptop in his own house. Feel free to catch him if you want a follow up thread from the event!]

B. Training montage

[As always, Guren doesn't let up on his training. He can be found close to the forest for things like this, usually as early as 5 in the morning. Stretches, jogging, exercises, things like that. It seems like he's taken to altering some of the peasant clothes to be workout worthy. Sleeveless, loose pants, and so on. When he's not doing that, he has a number of fuda (paper spell tags) that he's shuffling through, taking some sort of inventory of what he has on him. His sword is currently leaning against the base of one of the trees, and though no one else can see her, Mahiru is watching on with a curious gaze.

Don't stare for too long, though, or you'll get roped in. Hiding or not, Guren can sense someone looking his way, and he sighs, stopping whatever he's doing to stare over in that general direction.]

[He'll put you to work!!]

C. Cooking...?

[What's a little more rare is seeing Guren walking around with a bag of what seems to be... vegetables and various foods hanging over his arm. He's stopped at one of the gardens, crouching over one of the food plants and holding it in his hand, brow furrowed like he's trying to figure something out.]

[Eventually, he bites back some of his pride and turns to whoever he sees next.]

D. Anime rooftop prompt

[It's funny, but sometimes Guren seems to appear out of nowhere in the middle of the town, looking worse for the wear. He's definitely wiping blood from his mouth as he leaves from his hidden apothecary this time, but more than that, he's carrying himself a little differently. Shoulders heavier, eyes tired and dark. Testing drugs on yourself isn't a fun time, it turns out, even if your demon heals you.

After that, he heads back towards his house, but it's one of the buildings with a flatter rooftop that he ends up on, instead. He's watching the sunset, leaning back against the wall near the doorway to the roof, looking lost in thought. But he won't chew out anyone if they want to join him.]

[She can't believe she's nagging... She never nags... well she does, but she doesn't usually nag out of concern. Okuni's life in Chroma has been Wild so far.]

That was just from a drug. I'm already healed from that.

[He stares down at the street for a moment longer before sighing and taking a step back. He turns, then, moving back towards the door. Fine, he'll use the stairs.]

Come on. [Even if he was joking around about leaving without her, he nods for her to come with him.]

You're pretty good at saying things that aren't actually reassuring.

[Okuni's fast discovering yet another one of Guren's talents while following Guren down the stairs anyway. LET HER FOLLOW, SHE'LL BE GOOD...]

How often do you run your experiments?

[Nearly every day, sometimes..... He glances down the steps as they leave, considering how to answer that.]

Whenever they need to be run. It depends on what I've found and how close we are to a working drug. They're not all bad runs.

[A ROUNDABOUT ANSWER, HUH!! Okuni makes a soft disgruntled noise, but otherwise drops it… FOR NOW]

You’ve been working on different drugs, right? How many have you successfully made?

Three, so far.

[He sighs.] One of them is more like a potion. It helps someone here restore health in a specific way for what he needs. The other two— one protects your mind from attacks, and the other lets you take more hits. Both of them are defenses.

But they have horrible side effects, so they're emergency use only.

[OKUNI WANTS TO SIGH TOO!!

She’s also stupidly intrigued because she’s just like this, but for once she doesn’t grab onto Guren’s very nice demon army issued uniform and scream that she wants to try one. She's not sure she'd ever opt to try any of these, but Okuni hasn't lived this long by dismissing the possibility of having to.]

You can’t just say horrible side effects and not go into detail! [give her the DEETS] Are they the kind you can die from? That is, if you’re a normal person who’s not as stupidly sturdy as you? Do you start hallucinating? Coughing up blood? Losing inhibitions?

...If you take more than one in a day, yeah. You could die.

[OPENLY!! SURPRISE. They're at the ground floor again, and so he heads back outside into the darkening town.]

But if you just take the one, it's things like migraines that make it difficult to focus and may make you nauseous.

[This sounds more of what Okuni's familiar with, but migraine AND nausea? and taking more than one kills you??? damn, and you don't even get high??]

I don't mind migraines or nausea, but having them together might be annoying... [The ability to protect your mind from attacks sounds tempting, but] If that's what happens when you take a successful drug, then you must have had a terrible time trying the failures!

[THAT'S INTENSE, AND FOR WHAT]

It's fine. Human experimentation isn't a foreign thing to me.

[That's fine, isn't it? He can deal. He won't even mention the stupid Hiiragi's torture.]

I really don't want to hear that from you of all people...

[can one be responsible if they're also willing to Die for others, guren!!! but otherwise, Okuni doesn't look as put out as she usually looks when Guren denies her things.]

But it's probably better that way! I need to be in top condition in case you and everyone else who takes it end up fainting simultaneously, or getting hurt in another stupid way.

They know to only take it in an emergency. Only a handful of people got any, anyway. They should be with others who can help them if they really need to use it.

It might have been useful against the sirens, for example.

[To resist their song, at first. But it's hard to prepare for that in the moment. Now that they know that sirens are out there, though...]

[Okuni is glad Guren doled out drugs to the very responsible few of Chroma.]

They’ll be useful against them now, but it’s hard to take a drug when you don’t know what to expect.

[Unless taking drugs just becomes the go-to thing to do now for every Chroma event.]

People get useful things sometimes after they do the quests, right? Did anyone get something that can ward off spells?

There were potions at one point, but they were dangerous more often than they were useful, and they didn't come with any labels. I have a couple still, myself, that someone else earned and handed over to me. The first one he'd had was poison.
